Ep 441 - The Sacroiliac Joint - The Anatomical Gossip Fence: “The Rebel MT” with Allison Denney

With all the things a back can do, and all the support the pelvis offers, there is a lot to be communicated from one to the other. Enter the SI joint. Otherwise known as the anatomical gossip fence. With all the chatter that happens here, it is, quite possibly, the busiest gossip fence ever.  Host:      Contact Allison Denney: rebelmt@abmp.com             Allison’s website: www.rebelmassage.com                      Allison Denney is a certified massage therapist and certified YouTuber. And I am not your typical massage therapist. After 20 years of experience and thousands of clients, I have learned that massage therapy is SO MUCH more than a relaxing experience at a spa. I see soft tissue as more than merely a physical element but a deeply complex, neurologically driven part of who you are. I use this knowledge to work WITH you—not ON you—to create change that works. This is the basis of my approach. As a massage therapist, I have worked in almost every capacity, including massage clinics, physical therapy clinics, chiropractor offices, spas, private practice, and teaching. I have learned incredible techniques and strategies from each of my experiences. In my 20 years as a massage therapist, I have never stopped growing. I currently have a private practice based out of Long Beach, California, where I also teach continuing education classes and occasionally work on my kids. Ep 439 – Feeling Anatomy: Your Practice in 3D with Rachelle Clauson and Nicole Trombley

Being a skillful feeler is a huge part of what we do in the massage room. And beyond being a good palpator, our touch influences the anatomy our clients feel. In this second episode in our three-part series “Your Practice in 3D,” we discuss the concept of feeling anatomy from the point of view of both the therapist and the client and how AnatomySCAPES dissection lab trainings are improving therapists’ ability to understand the anatomy they touch.   Resources and Author Links:   Journey Into the MATRIX: the Fascial System” dissection lab workshop: http://www.anatomyscapes.com/MATRIX   website: www.anatomyscapes.com   FB: facebook.com/AnatomySCAPES   IG: instagram.com/anatomyscapes   YouTube: youtube.com/@anatomyscapes   email: info@anatomyscapes.com   Hosts:   AnatomySCAPES Co-Directors, Rachelle Clauson and Nicole Trombley, are NCBTMB-approved continuing education providers and teach anatomy explorations for hands-on professionals online and in person. Ep 436 - Pulmonary Fibrosis—An Aberrant Matrix: “I Have a Client Who . . .” Pathology Conversations with Ruth Werner

A person with rheumatoid arthritis and lupus develops new back pain in her mid-upper left side. It feels like “it’s coming from under my ribs,” she says. First, it’s diagnosed as arthritis, but interventions don’t seem to make a difference. Finally, a year into this unremitting pain, a rheumatologist asks about her breathing and discovers she has developed a complication called pulmonary thrombosis, probably related to her autoimmune diseases. They start treatment and voilà, her back pain is gone. This is a good example of a case in which massage therapy was definitely NOT the best choice.   Resources: Dsouza, K.G. et al.
