Episode 286: Violeta Ayala, creator of Prison X
Violeta Ayala's Prison X — Chapter 1: The Devil and The Sun, stunned us at Sundance this year. The Quechua film and theatre-maker blended lessons learned from those disciplines to put the audience inside a Neo-Andean myth via VR. (Check out our enthusiastic review.) This week's episode is a wide-ranging discussion with the creator about how she brought the work to life, and the powerful themes that flow through this mix of myth, theatre, and technology. Episode 285: Shine On Collective on 'Welcome Home' & 'Spirits of Tillinghast'
Marlee Delia and Anna Mavromati are the co-founders of Shine On Collective, the LA immersive theatre company that made its name creating intimate horror experiences with a strong audio signature. Like so many others in the pandemic, Shine On had to pivot if they wanted to keep producing, and what that landed on came as a surprise. Their first quarantine experience was Welcome Home, a boxed mystery that came with a delivery/take-out meal in LA and is now shipping as a mystery in a box with a dessert nationwide. They followed it up with The Rouguelike Presents: The Spirits of Tillinghast, the inaugural offering from Burbank's The Roguelike Tavern, a bar owned and operated by LA immersive theatre veteran John McCormick. We talk with Delia and Mavromati about finding new ways to tell immersive stories in the real world after all the rules changed. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Episode 278: Sundance New Frontier 2021
It's 2021 and the Sundance Film Festival is going where it hasn't gone before: ONLINE. Helping them get there is the collective wisdom of the New Frontier branch of the Festival, led by Senior Programmer Shari Frilot, which helped launch the VR Renaissance back in 2012 and now is helping shape the online social spaces that will bring festival goers from around the world together on a platform built by Active Theory. Both Frilot and Active Theory co-founder Michael Anthony join us to talk about this bold new venture for the legendary film festival, as well as this year's exciting line up of work in the New Frontier -- which will inevitably shape the conversation in XR for the year to come. Episode 277: The 2020 NoPro Awards
Welcome to "The Immies." The first-ever No Proscenium awards for Outstanding Achievements in Immersive & Experiential Production are hereby unleashed upon the world. This episode features both our juried awards and the Audience Choice Awards, as presented by members of the NoPro editorial board and staff: Kevin Gossett, Laura Hess, Patrick McLean, Blake Weil, Executive Editor Kathryn Yu, and Publisher Noah Nelson. The various categories were limited to work that was accessible online, by telephone or post so as to create a somewhat level pool of candidates. Location-based experiences were excluded this year, as they require a regional approach. This is the third and final part of NoPro's Year in Review coverage. For more of the highlights of 2020, including location-based work, and immersive adjacent projects see: Unforgettable: Moments That Defined Immersive in 2020 NoPro Critic’s Picks for 2020 Correction: In the podcast, Taylor Feld, recipient of the award for Outstanding Achievement in Individual Performance 2020, was verbally misgendered. Feld uses they/them pronouns. We regret the error. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
