Cool Tools featuring Luis Malbas of TLDC

Cool Tools. This episode was definitely influenced by The eLearning Tools Summit from a couple of weeks ago and all the requests received asking if TLDC was going to do another similar event. We'll definitely be doing another Tool Summit, but also, individual series on community members sharing some of the tools they use in their daily workflows. So in this episode Luis Malbas focuses on the tools he uses to build TLDC events. You'll find tools for writing, images, transcription, messaging and more. Hopefully some of these tools are things you might be able to in your work. And if you have any questions at all about any of these tools, message luis@thetldc.com. SLIDE DECK

Community Discussion: Open Table Fridays

In this episode we had a community discussion where I introduced a new TLDC idea: Open Table Fridays. Open Table Fridays are going to be a regularly held Friday meeting using a virtual platform, specifically, Airmeet. So what's gonna happen during Open Table Fridays? Volunteer hosts discussing topics such as mentorship, freelancing, working out loud --- basically anything relevant to L&D professionals. And what you'll hear in this community discussion recording are some decisions we made about the frequency of these meetings - weekly, when they are going to take place - Fridays, the duration of every meeting - an hour - and more. So give this episode a listen if you'd like to get caught up on this idea we're formulating and starting in May. Open Table Fridays will be an exciting community endeavor I think anyone involved in TLDC can benefit from. Here are the slides.

e-Learning and Today's Disrupted Workforce with Danny Ortegon

In this episode, we had a chance to catch up with eLearning Consultant, Danny Ortegon, and talk about e-Learning and Today's Disrupted Workforce. Danny wrote an article about this specific topic and I caught it on Linkedin. And I wanted to bring it to an episode because although it's a topic we've discussed during the more intense days of the pandemic, we're moving into the endemic stage of things (hopefully) and there are impacts to our careers, our jobs, our organizations, that we probably don't think as much about anymore. We're all kind of burnt out ... but I think it's a good time to step back and reflect and reconsider all of it. Danny has some great points in this one; he's always an articulate guest with a tremendous amount of experience, so it was a pleasure talking with him. Linkedin 2022 Workplace Learning Report

What the XR? with guest Kristin Torrence

In this episode, we had an opportunity to chat with Kristin Torrence, a long time TLDC Member and currently, Head of Learning Engineering at Talespin, an Immersive Learning company. We wanted to catch up with Kristin and discuss something she's been creating and sharing a good amount of content for: XR or Extended Reality. So XR is an umbrella term that covers virtual reality, augmented reality, mixed reality, and any other tech generated simulation reality out there. And Kristin shares some great resources for IDs wanting to get in to XR. And it was really nice to hear about where her career has taken her over the last couple of years. Enjoy the episode and don't hesitate to connect with Kristin if XR is something you'd like to steer your future toward.

Community Member Showcase: Matt Vosmik

Our guest for this Member Showcase was a little different than your typical at TLDC. We had Matt Vosmik, Director of Growth Training at Oak Street Health join us. Matt's background is more on the organizational development and performance management side of things, so it was interesting to hear his career journey and how he relates to L&D. He joined TLDC because he's building a team of instructional designers and was looking for an active group doing the work now - which pretty much sums up what our community is up to. So give this episode a listen if you'd like to look at L&D from a different perspective, a view you might not ordinarily see from.

Comics and Learning Design featuring Moe Ash

Moe Ash was the guest in this episode of TLDCast and we had a bunch to talk about. Although Moe was here to talk about comics and learning design, he also covered gamification, and storytelling. But more than anything, I was impressed by his sense of creativity and how he uses it to produce effective learning. This episode is longer than our typical because as you'll see, Moe is passionate about discussing these topics and could probably go on for hours talking about what we covered. Give it a listen and you'll see what I mean.
