Coaching Elite 15 Athletes (Anthony Peressini)
In this episode of the Rox Lyfe podcast we get to chat with Anthony Peressini (@awildperessini). Anthony is the husband of the HYROX World Champion Lauren Weeks. But he is also her coach, and coach to two other Elite 15 athletes in Lauren Griffiths and James Kelly. In this chat we talked about so much including his recent hybrid challenge of a heavy bench press and a marathon in the same day, his sporting history and his past as a coach, how his coaching of his wife, Lauren, has evolved over time and what has changed in her training to get her to the place where she was able to smash the World Record in Vienna. We also get into threshold training and lactate testing, mindset, what he changed in James Kelly's training in the few weeks before JK won the Mens Pro race in Cologne, and lots more. Lee Tuck (from International Football to HYROX)
In this week's episode of the Rox Lyfe podcast I got to chat with Lee Tuck (@lee_tuck).
Lee recently ran a Men’s Doubles race in HYROX Copenhagen, finishing in 51:05. Back in November, he finished the Men’s Open in 57:09 which puts him in the top 20 fastest athletes ever in that division. That’s all obviously very impressive but what’s more he’s only been in the sport for a relatively short period of time, as less than a year ago, he was still playing professional football, and actually played for the Malaysian international team.
In this chat we talk about his career as a footballer, including playing in front of 80,000 fans, we talk about his training, racing in HYROX, and lots more.
It was a really enjoyable chat with someone who has already had a very impressive life in sport and now has huge potential in HYROX.

Charlie Botterill - from Pro Cyclist to HYROX
In this episode of the Rox Lyfe podcast we chat with Charlie Botterill. This was recorded just a few days after Charlie won the mens open at HYROX Rotterdam in a time of 59:35. A few weeks prior to that he ran the second fastest mens pro doubles time ever - along with Jake Williamson who has also been on this pod – in a time of 51:51. Charlie is only 22 but is an amazing athlete and has quite a back story. We talk about his sporting past – including his time as a footballer and a pro cyclist living in France, we talk about his battle with depression after suffering an injury in football, as well as how he struggled with an eating disorder for many years before going to Uni. We get into some detail about the book he’s writing, his training, his racing in HYROX, the time he ran a marathon around Wembley stadium, some of his running numbers and the amazing numbers he used to be able to achieve on the bike, we talk about his mindset in a race and lots lots more. It was a great chat, with an impressive young athlete who seemingly has a very mature head on him and a great future in the sport of HYROX.

5 Athletes Chasing the HYROX Elite
In this episode I get to chat with 5 different top level HYROX athletes. On 13th and 14th of April, we will see the first of the last chance qualifiers where a large number of people will be battling it out in the Pro divisions in Cologne, trying to earn themselves a spot in the Elite races at the HYROX World Championships in Nice. The field is wide open on both the mens and the womens side though in the mens race it is only the winner who will claim their spot, and on the womens side it is the top 3. Ahead of these huge races I wanted to get some of the athletes who will be competing on to the show and have a chat with them. We talk about their training, their mindset, how they’re feeling, their taper plans ahead of the race, and lots more. You'll hear from, in this order, the brilliant Jon Wynn, Zara Piergianni, Hidde Weersma, Alina Willnow and James Kelly. I loved chatting to them all and I think you’ll really enjoy it.

Kristi O'Connell (CrossFit Legend Takes on HYROX)
In this episode of the Rox Lyfe podcast I'm chatting with Kristi O’Connell. Kristi made her name in the world of CrossFit. She has appeared at the CrossFit Games in 7 consecutive years, 6 of those times as an individual, where the lowest she ever placed was 13th. She's now retired from competing in CrossFit but recently took on her first ever HYROX – competing in the Pro division in Houston where she won in a time of 64:37. Kristi has more of an endurance background than many crossfit athletes, and her potential in HYROX, should she choose to give it some focus, appears to be very high. She is certainly a name we could see competing in the Elite 15 at some point in time.
In this chat we talk about her experience in her first HYROX race, her training, her sporting background, her best sporting experiences, how she transitioned from an endurance background into the more strength based world of crossfit, her mindset, and lots more. Jess Towl (from Triathlon, to CrossFit, to HYROX Elite)
In this episode of the Rox Lyfe podcast I'm chatting with Jess Towl (@jesstowl).
Jess had only raced in 2 HYROX races when she qualified for the Elite race Major in Washington DC. That seemingly incredible achievement becomes a little more understandable when you hear about her sporting background – from competing for Great Britain in the triathlon, to then moving to CrossFit where she set a world record, and now she has found HYROX.
But even though she has an impressive sporting background, it feels like there could be even more to come from her, especially when you hear how low her running volume has been in the build up to the races she's done.
We also discuss her transition from triathlon to the more strength based training for Crossfit, we talk about her training, what surprised her in HYROX, how she fared in the Washington race, her mindset, and lots more.
