UK's Fastest HYROX Athlete (Graham Halliday)

Graham is the UK’s fastest HYROX athlete.  He has a PB in the Pro division of an incredible 57:35, and finished 5th at the HYROX World Championships in Manchester. Runner Chasing the HYROX Elite (Jake Williamson Interview)

In this episode of the Rox Lyfe podcast I get to speak with the fantastic Jake Williamson. Jake has huge potential to go very far in HYROX. He is just 25, is a very fast runner – and we get into just how fast – and combines that with having plenty of strength which in theory makes him very well suited to HYROX. He already has a time of 66 minutes to his name from the Pro division but has his sights set on Elite 15 qualification in this upcoming season, as well as becoming one of the UK’s fastest athletes, and it certainly seems possible that he could achieve that.We talk the upcoming season, his running training, his sporting background and his ongoing work with Stonewall, raising awareness and supporting the LGBTQ+ community within sport. Dr Phil Price Interview (Hybrid Training Research for HYROX)

In this episode of the Rox Lyfe podcast I got to speak with the brilliant Dr Phil Price (@drphilprice). Phil is a senior lecturer in Strength and Conditioning, and Biomechanics, at St Mary's University. He is also the host of The Progress Theory Podcast (@theprogresstheory) and is currently researching hybrid training and is part of the HIFIm research group, who are investigating and developing exercise countermeasures for the training of astronauts during space travel. Phil is an incredibly knowledgeable guy with some fantastic insights into hybrid training, and I was really pleased to get to be able to speak with him and basically fire questions at him all about how to optimise your training for strength and endurance when preparing for something like HYROX. We get into the dos and don’ts of zone 2 training, recovery techniques – including ice baths, common hybrid training mistakes, what the research shows about hybrid training and the interference effect, and lots more. Mikaela Norman Interview (Womens Doubles WR Holder, and North American Champion)

In this episode of the Rox Lyfe podcast we hear from one of the fastest ever women in HYROX, Mikaela Norman. Mikaela burst on to the scene in Hamburg last year when she broke the HYROX Women’s Pro world record in her first race.  Since then, she has also taken the Women’s Doubles World Record, and won the North American championship, and in the past, she has been to the CrossFit Games. George Edwards, HYROX Master Trainer Interview

In today's episode of the Rox Lyfe podcast I get to chat with George Edwards. George is one of the UK’s HYROX Master Trainers and spends a lot of time travelling around the UK coaching the coaches from HYROX affiliated gyms.  He’s a very experienced personal trainer and athlete, and in this chat we have a great discussion about his training for an Ironman which he’s currently preparing for, his duties as a master trainer, his recovery strategies, what he’s changed his views on with regard to HYROX training in the past year or so, and details of his upcoming training camp.  George is also good friends with the HYROX world champion and world record holder Hunter McIntyre, and we get into what he’s picked up from Hunter with regard to training and recovery for HYROX. Improve Your Row and Ski at HYROX (Jane Erbacher from Erg Army)

In today's episode of the Rox Lyfe podcast I get to chat with the wonderful Jane Erbacher. The Future of Brands and Equipment in HYROX (Matt Brewster, WIT Fitness CEO)

On the Rox Lyfe podcast this week I got to chat with Matt Brewster.  Matt is the CEO of WIT Fitness (https://www.wit-fitness.com/), a very popular, multi brand, global retailer born out of CrossFit and who have a fantastic gym- recently HYROX affiliated - in the heart of London.  Additionally, he’s on the board of Built for Athletes, and has previously worked at Speedo, Arcadia and Beyonce’s company Ivy Park.  He has a huge amount of experience in retail, and in sport in his role at WIT, and we have a great chat about the growth of HYROX, the community, what he sees as opportunities for brands moving into the HYROX space with regard to equipment and apparel, we talk about the development of a shoe specifically targeted at HYROX athletes, we discuss the media side of the sport and lots lots more. Elite 15 Series Changes - All the Info! (Mo Fuerste, HYROX Co-founder, Interview)

What Makes a High Performing HYROX Athlete (Tiago Lousa Interview)

On the Rox Lyfe podcast this week I got to chat with Elite HYROX athlete Tiago Lousa (@thelousaway). Tiago is 41 years old – he finished 9th in the Elite race at the 2023 HYROX World Championships, and set a PB last season of 57.54 in the Men’s Pro division. He’s a busy guy – he’s a coach, a crossfit box owner, he works in the police and he does all that while still being one of the top performing athletes in HYROX. We have a really chat about his training, his mindset, some of the qualities he thinks are important in a high performing athlete, and lots lots more.
