Bitcoin Rapid-Fire

Alex Gladstein is the Chief Strategy Officer at the Human Rights Foundation and The Oslo Freedom Forum. He has been working to bring awareness to, and rectify, human rights abuses around the world for his entire career. In 2016, he fell down the 'bitcoin rabbit hole' and realized how it could be used as an extremely powerful tool to combat authoritarian regimes the world over. Since then he has been giving talks on the subject, and educating people on the significance of bitcoin and how to use it for greater freedom for all people. I recently heard max on a few other podcasts and was simply blown away. To me, Max seems like someone who understands the impact and importance of Bitcoin to a high degree, and is engaging with it fully to construct a life of freedom and propserity. Max shares his knowledge via his YouTube videos and podcast on the World Crypto Network, as well as through his website (towardsliberty.com), the talks he gives, and via his contribution to some of the exciting and important open source projects currently being developed in the space. He's a wealth of knowledge, and in my opinion, an exemplar of the type of person and life that is made possible through bitcoin. Enjoy! We talk a lot about adoption in the bitcoin space, and the hurdles that may be keeping more people from starting to engage with it. I'm super bullish on the 'bitcoin back' rewards model because it allows people to start getting familiar with bitcoin without having to change their behavior OR take on any risk, it's basically free bitcoin, and that's a pretty damn powerful proposition that many seem to be interested in. I recently came across Gene while watching his debate at The Soho Forum with Professor Richard Wolff (link below). Gene, a follower of the Austrian school of economics, represented the 'Capitalism' side, while Richard, a Marxian economist, took the 'Socialism' side. After watching the debate, it was clear in my mind that Gene won (the audience agreed), and so I thought it would be interesting to have him on for a chat. We touched on the debate itself, as well as socialism vs capitalism in general, and then broke into discussion on somethign we DO NOT agree on. This was focused on Gene's assertion that money (including gold and bitcoin) is not, nor should be, a 'store of value', but rather simply a 'medium of exchange'. I disagreed with this, and as a result we engaged in a spirited debate on the subject:) This one is a bit long, so if you'd like to jump right to the 'store of value' discussion, it starts just after the first hour.
