1/27/23 Ted Snider: Were the Minsk Agreements a Lie?
Scott talks with Ted Snider about former German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s recent claim that the Minsk agreements were never meant to bring peace to the Donbas. Merkel said that instead, they were implemented to give Ukraine time to build up its military. Some are doubting whether Merkel’s comments are true, but Snider explains why this is a big deal whether she’s lying or not. Scott and Snider explore the dynamic around the Minsk agreements and examine the crucial years between the 2014 ousting of Yanukovych and the 2022 invasion. They also touch on where things stand today and on whether the best window for negotiation has already passed. Discussed on the show:

1/26/23 David Swanson on What Russia Could Have Done Instead of Invading Ukraine
Scott brings on David Swanson to discuss the war in Ukraine. Scott and many of his guests have spent a lot of time explaining all the ways the U.S. and NATO unnecessarily backed Russia into a corner. But there are, in fact, plenty of things Moscow could have done to address the situation that didn’t involve invading Ukraine—which has only emboldened NATO and destroyed countless lives and livelihoods. Scott and Swanson also discuss the Rage Against the War Machine rally on February 19th in Washington DC where they will both be speaking. Discussed on the show:

Kyle Anzalone joined Scott on Antiwar Radio this week to go over some of the week's biggest stories. They talked about the German Foreign Minister’s admission that NATO is fighting a war against Russia. Of course we all know that’s the case, but Scott and Anzalone discuss why it’s a big deal that the FM said it out loud and on the record. They then talk about the deal to send heavy tanks to Ukraine and the immediate pivot made by Kyiv and its western supporters to now push for sending F-16 fighters. They put these escalations in context and also discuss weapons company lobbying, the Doomsday Clock and Zelensky’s apparent anti-corruption maneuvers. Discussed on the show:

1/19/23 Branko Marcetic: Cables Expose Washington’s NATO Expansion Lies
Scott talks with Branko Marcetic about some cables he recently dug up that show U.S. officials and western governments voicing concern about Russia’s reaction to NATO expansion going back to the 1990s. Marcetic’s work adds to the evidence that shatters the argument that anyone connecting NATO expansion to the February invasion is either an amplifier or victim of a Russian disinformation operation. 1/13/23 Bjorn Handeen on Using Local Politics to End the Wars
Scott talks with Bjorn Handeen, a long-time listener who is now the Idaho Republican Party Region 1 Chairman. The two talk about Handeen’s efforts to translate his knowledge of American foreign policy into results by focusing on local politicians. Unlike some of the big names in today’s Congress, politicians on the county and state levels are often totally uninformed about international issues, which can make them relatively open-minded if only you’re able to get in their ear. Handeen says you’ll be surprised how much access you’ll get to local legislators if you just start showing up. They talk about when democratic institutions can be an effective tool in the non-interventionist effort. And they also look back and reflect on Scott’s early interviews. Discussed on the show:

They then dig into the new Twitter Files thread which details the company and government’s response to Tweets relating to Russiagate.
