FAH in 5 Minutes: Ask Your Kids Good Questions
Getting our kids to name what they feel in distressing moments often comes by asking good questions. Contrary to our natural instinct, we don't need to fix our kids so they feel happy all of the time. The power is just sitting with them in their uncomfortable emotions and helping them label what happened. Think of it as putting together a puzzle. What did they see, think, hear, smell, taste, or touch? We don't even need to ask them what they're feeling. Sometimes it's too difficult for them to label. But when we inquire about the facts and take the time to ask good questions, the emotions begin to make sense.
