S17E13: People Will Say We're In Love | Shirley Jones and Jack Cassidy
Some people have all the luck, and at least when it comes to breakthroughs in show business, stage and screen legend Shirley Jones was certainly charmed. After somewhat accidentally - and also successfully - auditioning for Rodgers and Hammerstein, her career took off. It led her to an intoxicating love affair with the charming but not exactly faithful actor Jack Cassidy, who would become Shirley's ex-husband in 1975.Join us this Thursday, February 16, for That Trashy Show – A Valentine’s Day Decompression Session! S17E10: Flowers | Tish Cyrus and Billy Ray Cyrus
We covered the long and tumultuous relationship (and oh-so-brief marriage) of singer Miley Cyrus and actor Liam Hemsworth, but that was before we learned that Miley's parents, Tish and Billy Ray Cyrus - he of the Achy Breaky Heart - had themselves parted ways. It wasn't the biggest of shocks: by the time of the April 2022 announcement that they'd been separated for at least two years, Tish and Billy Ray had already had two divorce petitions withdrawn or dismissed. In the end, it seems, not everything was reconcilable.Join us Thursday, February 16, for That Trashy Show – A Valentine’s Day Decompression Session! S17E08: Basket Case | Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Part One
We've covered the Kennedy family in some detail during the show's run, but like any sprawling dynasty, there's always more to explore! This week, Alicia brings us the back story of Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the son of slain Attorney General and presidential candidate, Robert F. Kennedy. Let's just say that Bobby experienced a troubled youth, which was certainly not helped by the high profile murders his family was subjected to, or his family's effectively unlimited money and prestige.Join us Thursday, February 16, for That Trashy Show - A Valentine's Day Decompression Session! S17E07: Bust A Move | Silent Film Titan Buster Keaton
Choosing a career in the arts is always risky, but it's not like Hollywood legend Buster Keaton had a choice. S17E05: Going To California | Led Zeppelin's Jimmy Page, ca. 1972
Vladimir Lenin famously observed, "There are decades where nothing happens; and there are weeks where decades happen," and it's such a fitting statement for the long-gone era when rock & roll was young. Traveling musicians had long indulged in their share of excess, but when Jimmy Page's Led Zeppelin exploded onto the scene in 1969, they redefined what debauchery could be. At the same time, the first wave of Groupies, typified by Pamela Des Barres, was giving way to the so-called Baby Groupies, a younger cohort. Which is to say, a cohort that was far too young for the relationship Jimmy Page allegedly carried on with a fourteen year old girl. Stacie has the story, in all its trashy, day-glo, Marshall-stack tawdriness.Content note: This episode includes fairly graphic descriptions of disturbing behavior.Want early, ad-free episodes, limited series, Zoom hangouts, and more?
