On todays record we give our thoughts on the Allen V Farrow Docu-Series   This will of course be a very contentious topic of debate given the subject matter  at hand.. add to that the fact your hosts on the episode believe Woody Allen is innocent which seems to be against the grain of the current public emotional opinion   Again we implore people who have watched this docuseries to hear from the other side and the links below can adhere to that   Rick Worley's - By The Way Woody Allen Is Innocent   https://youtu.be/muyaCg2dGAk   Cathy Young - Allen v. Woody Adjacent - Paul Rudd, Amy Poehler - They Came Together (2014)

Continuing our Woody Allen Adjacent project JAMES has picked this interesting romantic comedy spoof..... It was an interesting discussion actually, where we delve more into our thoughts on the so called 'romantic comedy' genre on a whole..... and other pedantic quibbles ;P   In They Came Together (2014) Joel (Paul Rudd) a corporate candy exec, threatens to shut down Molly's (Amy Poehler) charming indie candy shop. Sparks fly despite their opposing businesses, leading to a whirlwind romance filled with clichés from classic rom-coms, hilariously exaggerated for maximum satire. Through flashbacks and dinner conversations with another couple, their journey unfolds, with misunderstandings, grand gestures, and awkward moments mirroring the tropes they poke fun at. As their relationship navigates breakups, second chances, and quirky obstacles, the film playfully critiques the predictable patterns of romantic comedies while reminding us that love, even in its cheesy forms, can be sweet and funny.   Please check out the links below for the full cast, user reviews, ratings and info you may find interesting   Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/They_Came_Together   IMDb: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2398249/   Rotten Tomatoes: https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/they_came_together   ____________________   A VERY Special Thanks to The Woody Allen Pages Website & The Woody Allen Subreddit for the continued support and info – check them out for the latest from the Woody Allen Fan Community!!   https://www.woodyallenpages.com     &    https://www.reddit.com/r/woodyallen   PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT TO THIS OR ANY OTHER EPISODE USING OUR COMMENT SECTION VIDEO LINK HERE   >>>>>>>  https://bit.ly/warpcom   IF YOU LIKE THE SHOW, PLEASE CONSIDER BUYING US A COFFEE / GIVING US A TIP VIA OUR PATREON CAMPAIGN  >>> https://www.patreon.com/woodyretro   Thanks for listening as always - we would also LOVE a review on iTunes or a 5 star rating via Spotify or whichever podcast platform you are listening on - please find all our connected links below.   >>>   https://linktr.ee/woodyretro

Woody Adjacent - Scarlett Johansson, Adam Driver - Marriage Story (2019)

Continuing our Woody Allen Adjacent project our next conversation will be about...   In Marriage Story (2019) New York theater director Charlie (Adam Driver) and his actress wife Nicole (Scarlett Johansson) navigate a heartbreaking divorce, navigating custody battles, lawyer pressures, and lingering love amidst the emotional wreckage. As they move between coasts, their once-strong bond frays, forcing them to confront their individual desires and the sacrifices made for their shared life. The film explores the raw pain and fragile hope of letting go, ultimately questioning what it means to stay connected even when falling apart.   _____________________________________   Near the end of this recording we also touch on (just a little bit) the pushback and critical response on the HBO 'Allen v. Farrow' Docu-Series which we MAY expand upon.. but honestly its already frustrating from what we have seen thus far   ___________________________________________   Please check out the links below for the full cast, user reviews, ratings and info you may find interesting   Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marriage_Story   IMDb: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt7653254/   Rotten Tomatoes: https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/marriage_story_2019   ____________________   A VERY Special Thanks to The Woody Allen Pages Website & The Woody Allen Subreddit for the continued support and info – check them out for the latest from the Woody Allen Fan Community!!   https://www.woodyallenpages.com     &    https://www.reddit.com/r/woodyallen   PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT TO THIS OR ANY OTHER EPISODE USING OUR COMMENT SECTION VIDEO LINK HERE   >>>>>>>  https://bit.ly/warpcom   IF YOU LIKE THE SHOW, PLEASE CONSIDER BUYING US A COFFEE / GIVING US A TIP VIA OUR PATREON CAMPAIGN  >>> https://www.patreon.com/woodyretro   Thanks for listening as always - we would also LOVE a review on iTunes or a 5 star rating via Spotify or whichever podcast platform you are listening on - please find all our connected links below.   >>>   https://linktr.ee/woodyretro

Woody Adjacent - Phil Joanou, BONO, Stephen Dorff - ENTROPY (1999)

Continuing our Woody Allen Adjacent discussions our next conversation will be about a movie that is a particular favourite for one of our hosts...   In ENTROPY (1999) aspiring director Bobby (Stephen Dorff) juggles the chaotic demands of his first film with a whirlwind romance and the seductive whispers of his own ego (U2's Bono). As pressure mounts, the lines between art and reality blur, leading him down a spiraling path of self-destruction. Amidst fractured relationships, creative anxieties, and existential questions, Bobby's journey becomes a poignant reflection on the price of passion and the precarious dance between ambition and disillusionment.    ______________________________   We did reference an interview the films director took part in - that interview can be found on the following link...   http://www.money-into-light.com/2016/04/phil-joanou-on-heavens-prisoners.html   Please check out the links below for the full cast, user reviews, ratings and info you may find interesting   Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Entropy_(film)   IMDb: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0156515/   Rotten Tomatoes:  https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/entropy   ____________________   A VERY Special Thanks to The Woody Allen Pages Website & The Woody Allen Subreddit for the continued support and info – check them out for the latest from the Woody Allen Fan Community!!   https://www.woodyallenpages.com     &    https://www.reddit.com/r/woodyallen   PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT TO THIS OR ANY OTHER EPISODE USING OUR COMMENT SECTION VIDEO LINK HERE   >>>>>>>  https://bit.ly/warpcom   IF YOU LIKE THE SHOW, PLEASE CONSIDER BUYING US A COFFEE / GIVING US A TIP VIA OUR PATREON CAMPAIGN  >>> https://www.patreon.com/woodyretro   Thanks for listening as always - we would also LOVE a review on iTunes or a 5 star rating via Spotify or whichever podcast platform you are listening on - please find all our connected links below.   >>>   https://linktr.ee/woodyretro

Woody Adjacent - Louis CK, Chloe Grace Moretz - I Love You, Daddy (2017)

As part of the Woody Allen Retrospective Podcast we now move into our next phase of the project that i (Don) have been planning for well over a year now.   Woody at this time has completed a nearly 50 movie run and still going strong, so in the meantime while we await another official Woody release - there are a WHOLE lot of films that pay homage, imitate and or resemble Woodys filmography   As a way of creating more content we now want to discuss, disect and debate the finer points of such movies.   With the help of some true Woody fans and from investigations online we have a great list to work from, which means we have some great conversations coming up and to enter this new era for the podcast i am more than excited to do this with a new co-host to join us on this new venture!   You have certainly heard him before on some of our more recent Woody Discussions - Author, Filmmaker, Content Creator and founder of popular community website Manic Expression, let me re-introduce you to the host with the most: James Daniel Walsh will now be joining me on these discussions that we like to call 'Woody Adjacent'   The first title we have chosen to begin our new venture is with Louis CK's Disastrous shelved Film... It's a LONG conversation and after reading Woodys memoir it was hard to ignore this one - LETS DIG IN!   In I Love You, Daddy (2017) Glen, a successful TV writer navigates his daughter China's (Chloë Grace Moretz) relationship with a much older filmmaker, Leslie Goodwin (John Malkovich). As Glen becomes increasingly worried about how to handle the situation, his life delves into disarray navigating the complexities of morality, power dynamics, and the challenges of parenting in hollywood whilst also navigating developments in his own career    Please check out the links below for the full cast, user reviews, ratings and info you may find interesting   Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I_Love_You,_Daddy   IMDb: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt7264080/   Rotten Tomatoes: https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/i_love_you_daddy     A VERY Special Thanks to The Woody Allen Pages Website & The Woody Allen Subreddit for the continued support and info – check them out for the latest from the Woody Allen Fan Community!!   https://www.woodyallenpages.com     &    https://www.reddit.com/r/woodyallen   PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT TO THIS OR ANY OTHER EPISODE USING OUR COMMENT SECTION VIDEO LINK HERE   >>>>>>>  https://bit.ly/warpcom   IF YOU LIKE THE SHOW, PLEASE CONSIDER BUYING US A COFFEE / GIVING US A TIP VIA OUR PATREON CAMPAIGN  >>> https://www.patreon.com/woodyretro   Thanks for listening as always - we would also LOVE a review on iTunes or a 5 star rating via Spotify or whichever podcast platform you are listening on - please find all our connected links below.   >>>   https://linktr.ee/woodyretro

Ep 65: 2020 - Apropos of Nothing Memoir *Discussion*

As promised we are BACK again with more Woody Allen content, this time having a thoughtful discussion focusing on Woodys recently released memoir: Apropos of Nothing (2020)   We are joined here once again by James Walsh, Author, Content Creator and founder of popular community website Manic Expression - http://www.manic-expression.com   It's quite possible you've heard us talk about Woody a few years ago, contemplating his 'final chapter' ...and since then, Soooo much has happened to the filmmaker    This conversation could also be considered a general catchup on Woodys life / career up to the time of this recording. Personally, I (Don Wunder) really enjoyed putting this one together.. and if you stay tuned to the end you might even hear some very exciting news about the future of this project ;)   Thanks for listening and supporting us folks!   __________   SPECIAL NOTE - On this episode we mentioned a few outside references I want to note  below for you to follow up on - we think these were all pretty interesting indeed!    1. Ep 64: 2019 - A Rainy Day In New York *Discussion*

After a long hiatus.. we finally get to have this discussion about the extremely elusive and somewhat controversial release by Woody Allen in the midst of this ongoing global PANDEMIC and so much behind the scenes crap you guys probably don't wanna hear about.. this show must go on.. so at long last.. let's discuss: 2019's - A Rainy Day In New York   ....a movie we even have a hard time pinning a release date on since it had such a staggered kind of distribution. Anyway, this recording is just a little bit more relaxed and curt as firstly.. we didn't have the best experience with this one.. we had a few drinks before the recording.. and honestly we were just not as excited to pull out all the stops for this discussion so we apologise if its not exactly the review you were waiting for   The guest we have on here is also pretty useless lol but hey he wouldn't shut up so we gave him a mic too :P Okay so following from this recording we do have 2 other discussions coming up focusing on Woodys Autobiography (which is excellent btw) and then maybe later down the year we can start the Woody-Like project I've hinted at...   Anyway - thanks for your patience, we really appreciate the people who enjoy the podcast for what it IS and not what they think it SHOULD be ;)   In A Rainy Day in New York (2019) two young college students, Gatsby Welles (Timothée Chalamet) and Ashleigh Enright (Elle Fanning), embark on a whirlwind weekend getaway to New York City, expecting a romantic escape from their mundane lives.   Gatsby, an aspiring filmmaker, plans to show Ashleigh around his beloved city, filled with iconic landmarks and cultural attractions. However, their romantic plans are thwarted by a series of unforeseen events and unexpected encounters.   Please check out the links below for the full cast, user reviews, ratings and info you may find interesting   Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Rainy_Day_in_New_York   IMDb: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt7139936/   Rotten Tomatoes: https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/a_rainy_day_in_new_york   ____________________   A VERY Special Thanks to The Woody Allen Pages Website & The Woody Allen Subreddit for the continued support and info – check them out for the latest from the Woody Allen Fan Community!!   https://www.woodyallenpages.com     &    https://www.reddit.com/r/woodyallen   PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT TO THIS OR ANY OTHER EPISODE USING OUR COMMENT SECTION VIDEO LINK HERE   >>>>>>>  https://bit.ly/warpcom   IF YOU LIKE THE SHOW, PLEASE CONSIDER BUYING US A COFFEE / GIVING US A TIP VIA OUR PATREON CAMPAIGN  >>> https://www.patreon.com/woodyretro   Thanks for listening as always - we would also LOVE a review on iTunes or a 5 star rating via Spotify or whichever podcast platform you are listening on - please find all our connected links below.   >>>   https://linktr.ee/woodyretro
