This week on The Tarot Diagnosis Podcast, I’m pulling cards to the concept of the golden shadow, a lesser-known aspect of Carl Jung’s theory of the shadow. While the idea of the shadow and shadow work is well-known and often discussed in the realms of tarot and psychology, the golden shadow highlights the positive traits and potentials we might have repressed or ignored. Throughout this episode, I pull the Page of Swords as an example of golden shadow work, highlighting how curiosity may be repressed due to negative feedback in childhood. The Magician as representing resourcefulness and the potential within. The Seven of Swords highlighting strategy, resourcefulness, and self-assertion. This week on ⁠The Tarot Diagnosis Podcast⁠, I’m sitting down with The Gender Doula, Eli Lawliet, PhD. Eli (he/him) is the dreamer and weaver of The Gender Doula. In addition to a decade of experience researching trans healthcare, law, policy, and history, he has formal training as a full spectrum doula, breathwork facilitator, and tarot reader, as well as many years of surviving the world of poverty wages and retail work.   The broad scope of his experience directly informs the equally broad spectrum of his work as The Gender Doula. Eli has been seeing clients since January of 2020 and has worked with trans folks nationally and internationally in sessions, classes, and workshops. Though he was born in Oklahoma and raised in Missouri, Eli currently lives in Los Angeles (Gabrieliño-Tongva, Chumash, & Kizh land) with his partner, three cats, a dog, and four snakes.   I invite you to join Eli and I as we nerd out on the construct of gender through the lens of tarot. This week on The Tarot Diagnosis Podcast, I’m doing something I have never done before. I am exploring tarot through the lens of music - specifically the iconic Taylor Swift. Swift recently took the world by storm (as she always does) not just via her Eras world tour, but by dropping a (double) album in the midst of the tour. Admittedly, I have never been a Swiftie and only recently started listening to her music when she released Midnights. I tend to listen to more obscure metal and indie folk music - I know…weird mix. But it is what it is. Anyway, I was listening to Swift’s new Tortured Poets Department album and really enjoyed the irony and sarcasm throughout the song “I Can Do It With A Broken Heart.” I kept thinking about cards that would depict this song and found it to be a fun way to deepen my connection to the cards.
