Bill Ascol began his ministry at Bethel Baptist Church in September 2005 after 28 years ministering in Louisiana Baptist churches. He is a former Vice-President of the Executive Board of the Louisiana Baptist Convention as well as a former President of the Louisiana Baptist Pastors' Conference. He served as the Chairman of the Board of Founders Ministries and is the Coordinator of the Saved By Faith Youth Challenge Camps for young people. He received the MDiv degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.

“I cannot see but that the Doctrine some Men strive to promote, is but little better than Popery in a new Dress.”[1] In Benjamin Keach’s sermon titled The Marrow of True Justification, Keach is concerned about Christians who err on this important doctrine.  Keach was staunchly opposed to the teaching that sincere obedience (or works) plus faith equates justification. He thought that this teaching was reverting to Roman Catholicism—popery in a new dress. If my word count is correct, Keach references “Mr. Baxter” 6 times in this sermon.
