Sam and Will discuss the true meaning of the 2nd and 3rd commandments of God. We must reject idols because we become what we worship. Therefore, we should hold God as the highest beauty and the most precious Being in the universe. In doing so, we will naturally become like Him. And we should revere His name. The third commandment involves FAR more than just our words.

Sam and Will discuss the importance of the Ten Commandments for both individuals and society. What happens when people abandon the universal and absolute nature of morality and truth? In short, nothing good. In His kindness, the Lord provides a roadmap for how He has designed the moral fabric of our universe.

Sam and Will discuss the Israelites' experience on Mount Sinai as God prepares to deliver the Ten Commandments and the Law. Why would God lead them to a desolate location and then provide a litany of terrifying sensory experiences? The Lord obviously wanted the people to respect His holiness, but why would a loving God want His people to fear Him? Is it possible that this was also driven by His grace?

Sam and Will discuss the kindness of God in sending Jethro, Moses' father-in-law, as a priest of Midian to relate to the burdens of leadership. Jethro will teach Moses that he cannot bear the burdens of leadership on his own, and he gives him a blueprint for leadership over the Israelites. Sam and Will also discuss the importance of sacrificial relationships in building our lives and our faith.

Sam and Will walk through Exodus 17 and discuss the grumbling of the Israelites. In this chapter, we find two events that anticipate the gospel of Jesus Christ. The Lord brings forth water from a rock, and then He shows the Israelites that they can find victory in battle when their champion Moses stretches out his hands atop a hill.

Sam and Will discuss the stunning faithfulness of God in leading the Israelites into the barren Sinai wilderness. As the Israelites grumble, the Lord does not respond with punitive wrath or abandonment. He feeds them and requires them to rest. In the Gospels, Jesus will tell the crowds that HE is the true bread from heaven. What can we learn from this miraculous display?

Sam and Will discuss the miraculous display of God's faithfulness in the wilderness. After three days of walking through desert terrain, the Israelites are nearing death. When they finally come upon a lake of water, they are devastated to find that the waters of bitter. How does God bring life to the dying? How does He transform the bitterness into sweetness? Join us to find out.

Sam and Will discuss the prophecy of Isaiah 9:1-7. The words of Isaiah 9:6 ("For unto us a child is born") are found on lots of Christmas cards and greetings, but the story behind Isaiah's good news is truly incredible. When you look at the entire passage, you find God's battle strategy for overcoming the darkness of our world, and you find your role in the story of redemption: SHOUT!

Sam and Will discuss the visitation of the magi and several misconceptions about that biblical story. As these foreigners arrive in Bethlehem, they come prepared to worship a baby with tributes to a king, a priest, and the dead.

Sam and Will discuss the birth of Jesus. In the nativity story, our Lord is sovereignly painting a beautiful picture that reveals the purpose of Christ's birth. Jesus was born to die, and the details of his birth were intended to point our hearts and minds to his death, burial, and resurrection to come. This is the great sign given to the shepherds!
