Book Club.On this episode we speak to Director Bill Holderman and Producer/Actress Erin Simms.Bill and Erin discuss the movie “Book Club,” the Diane Keaton and Jane Fonda-starring romantic comedy that marks his directorial debut. It’s the story of four longtime friends who decide to tackle the E.L. James novel for their monthly, you guessed it, book club. Keaton and Fonda are joined by Mary Steenburgen and Candice Bergen, each playing a woman who is in some way inspired to change her life as she digs into the titillating trilogy. Holderman, who co-wrote the screenplay with Erin Simms, wanted to make a movie in which “women of a certain age” are given rich character arcs, in which they can exist as romantic and sexual beings, in which they can learn and grow and change. He wanted to write them as complex, and in short, treat them with respect—and it all started with the “Fifty Shades” books, a Mother’s Day gift, and those long drives in Georgia.Erin Simms was born and raised in Montreal. She went to St. George's high school that specializes in the arts. After learning acting for a couple of years she landed a small part in her first movie and then landed the part of Morgan on Student Bodies. She left the show to be on the Power Rangers. Palms.  On this episode we speak to musician and songwriter Dustin Kensrue. He is the lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist in the rock band ThriceAt the end of summer 2017, not long after Thrice had finished up a national tour, singer Dustin Kensrue woke up in the middle of the night and found himself fixated on the mental image of an open hand—a visual that instantly became his touchstone in the writing of Thrice’s tenth album, Palms.In the spirit of that openness, Thrice created Palms with a free-form and fluid approach to the album’s sonic element. The result is their most expansive work to date, encompassing everything from viscerally charged post-hardcore to piano-driven balladry. To carve out that eclectic sound, Thrice enlisted trusted producer Eric Palmquist for the recording of the percussion and vocal tracks, and self-produced all of the guitar parts on Palms. Much like its predecessor—2016’s politically minded To Be Everywhere Is to Be Nowhere—Palms mines a great deal of inspiration from the literary and philosophical realm. In his lyric-writing, Kensrue drew from sources as varied as the lectures of philosopher Alan Watts, the writings of Franciscan friar Richard Rohr, and the process metaphysics of mathematician Alfred North Whitehead. Thrice’s first release since signing to Epitaph in early 2018, Palms matches its raw passion with a measured intensity, a rare feat for an album so informed by the volatility of the times. It's a Sailboat.  On this episode we speak to n American film and television actor Ethan Suplee best known for his roles as Seth Ryan in American History X, Louie Lastik in Remember the Titans, Frankie in Boy Meets World, Randy Hickey in My Name Is Earl, Toby in The Wolf of Wall Street, Elwood in Without a Paddle, and his roles in Kevin Smith films.The first major role Suplee landed was as Willam in Mallrats, directed by Kevin Smith, alongside future My Name is Earlcostar Jason Lee. He also appeared briefly in the independent Kevin Smith View-Askew produced Drawing Flies. Smith cast both Suplee and Lee again in later films Chasing Amy and Dogma. They both make cameos in Clerks II. At the same time as the filming of Mallrats, Suplee also had a recurring role as Frankie "The Enforcer" Stechino in Boy Meets World, from 1994 to 1998. Suplee's dramatic performances include the roles of the ruthless Nazi skinhead Seth in American History X, a man who rapes a clown in Vulgar, Ashton Kutcher's goth college roommate "Thumper" in The Butterfly Effect, football player Louie Lastik in 1970s Virginia in Remember the Titans (a direct opposite on his racial views from his American History Xrole), Johnny Depp's buddy and initial drug-dealing partner Tuna in Blow, and the simpleminded Pangle in Cold Mountain. Suplee also had a cameo in the HBO TV series Entourage in the fictional movie Queens Boulevard. New Noise.  On this episode we speak to Dennis Lyxzén the musician best known as the lead vocalist for Swedish hardcore punk band Refused. He is currently the vocalist in INVSN.  Aside from Refused, he has been involved in numerous Swedish bands during his musical career, acting as vocalist, bass player, or guitar player. Since the break-up of Refused, his most notable bands have been The (International) Noise Conspiracy and Invasionen (Previously called The Lost Patrol Band). Lyxzén also runs Ny Våg, a punk record label. He acted as producer of the 2005 self-titled album by Swedish punk band Regulations, which was released on the label.As a punk rock frontman, Lyxzén's songs are of a counter-culture nature, within line of his socialist political views. Despite his political views, he tends to maintain a level of lyrical variety throughout his various bands. Lyxzén was voted sexiest man in Sweden in 2004 by Elle Magazine and is also vegan.In 2011, Lyxzén joined The Bloody Beetroots for their Church of Noise tour as a guest vocalist. Lyxzén is also featured in their newest single, "Church of Noise", and the accompanying music video.In 2012 it was announced that Refused would reunite for Coachella, Way Out West Festival and Fun Fun Fun Fest 2012. They went on to headline Groezrock 2012 in Meerhout, Belgium.Although Refused stated in 2012 that their reunion was only temporary, in 2015 they released their fourth studio album Freedom. Refused have continued to tour to promote Freedom. A Quiet Place. On this episode we speak to English actor, Noah Jupe.Noah is known for starring in the television series The Night Manager, the dark comedy film Suburbicon, the drama film Wonder, and the horror film A Quiet Place. He made his feature film acting debut in 2017 with the war drama film The Man with the Iron Heart.Noah started his acting career in 2015/2016 by a little appearances in the television series Penny Dreadful and Downton Abbey. Later in 2016, he played a significant role in the spy thriller series The Night Manager along with Tom Hiddleston. In 2016, he also played a significant role in the series Houdini & Doyle.In 2017, he started his career in films, with his first major role being in The Man with the Iron Heart, a World War II drama, in which he starred along with Jason Clarke and Rosamund Pike. Also that year, he appeared in the British film That Good Night, with John Hurt and Charles Dance had one of the lead roles, the son of Matt Damon's character, in the black comedy film, Suburbicon, directed by George Clooney and appeared in the comedy-drama Wonder as Jack Will, best friend to Auggie Pullman (played by Jacob Tremblay).In 2018, he starred with Sam Worthington and Tom Wilkinson in science fiction film The Titan and alongside Emily Blunt and John Krasinski in the well-reviewed horror film A Quiet Place. Gordan's Alive. On this episode we speak to English actor, writer, presenter, and comedian Brian Blessed.Boisterous British actor Brian Blessed is known for his hearty, king-sized portrayals on film and television. A giant of a man accompanied by an eloquent wit and booming, operatic voice, Brian was born in 1936 and grew up in the mining village of Goldthorpe in South Yorkshire. His father was a miner who wanted a better life for his son; Brian lost three uncles in the pit. At a young age, he displayed an acute talent for acting in school productions, but also had a penchant for boxing, a direction that would be short-lived.Working various blue-collar jobs from undertaker's assistant to plasterer, Brian managed to attend the Bristol Old Vic and was off and running. He has lent his musical talents to several productions - from playing "Old Deuteronomy" in "Cats" to "The Baron" in the more recent "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang". In the 1970s, he began appearing more and more on-camera with both classical and contemporary performances. In costumed television movies, he has played "Porthos" in The Three Musketeers (1966) and The Further Adventures of the Musketeers (1967), "Augustus" in I, Claudius (1976), and "Long John Silver" in John Silver's Return to Treasure Island (1986) and has been a part of various reenactments including Catherine the Great (1996), Lady Chatterley (1993), The Hound of the Baskervilles (1983) and Kidnapped (1995).On film, he has appeared in robust support in several William Shakespeare adaptations, including Henry V (1989), Much Ado About Nothing (1993), Hamlet (1996) and Macbeth(1997). Eat The Rude.On this episode we speak to Danish Actor, Mads Mikkelsen.Originally a gymnast and dancer, he began his career as an actor in 1996. He rose to fame in Denmark as Tonny the drug dealer in the first two films of the Pusher film trilogy, and in his role as the brash yet sensitive policeman, Allan Fischer, in Peter Thorsboe's Danish television series Rejseholdet (Unit One)Mikkelsen became more widely known for his role as Tristan in Jerry Bruckheimer's production King Arthur, but achieved worldwide recognition for playing the main antagonist Le Chiffre in the twenty-first James Bond film, Casino Royale. He has since become known for his roles as Igor Stravinsky in Jan Kounen's French film Coco Chanel & Igor Stravinsky and his Cannes Film Festival Best Actor Award-winning role as Lucas in the 2012 Danish film The Hunt. In 2012, he was voted the Danish American Society's Person of the Year. He starred in the television series Hannibal as Dr. Hannibal Lecter. In 2016, Mikkelsen portrayed Kaecilius in Marvel's film Doctor Strange and Galen Erso in Lucasfilm's Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. In 2018, he starred in Joe Penna's survival drama Arctic. I can Climb Mountains.On this episode we speak to Hell is for Heroes frontman Justin Schlosberg.Hell Is for Heroes are an English post-hardcore band from London. Founder members Will McGonagle and Joe Birch (previously of Symposium) were joined by James Findlay, Tom O'Donoghue and later Justin Schlosberg. After two independently released singles, Hell Is for Heroes released their debut album in February 2003 on EMI. The Neon Handshake was produced and recorded in Los Angeles at Sound City Studios and mixed in Umeå, Sweden at Tonteknik by Pelle Henricsson and Eskil Lövström. The band and their A&R left EMI in 2004. The band released its second album Transmit Disrupt independently, before signing a deal with Burning Heart Records, who subsequently re-released it in 2006.
