Atlantic Health System Builds a Broader Definition of Clinical Intelligence
Convincing clinicians they need to do a better job isn’t the easiest task. James Barr, MD, had his epiphany when he looked at his own delivery of care about 20 years ago, and wasn’t pleased with his level of consistency delivering evidence-based medicine. He’s out to change that for the 5,000 doctors who practice at Atlantic Health System, especially as more patients are being treated through its accountable care organizations. Data from different sources – external to the organization and its Epic electronic health records system – provide a full picture of patients and their needs, he says. Pulling these different sources of intelligence into a cloud-based environment is the vision for the system, enabling clinicians to break down traditional silos of data. The result will be to create analytics that is both predictive and prescriptive – heading off expensive interventions by meeting the ongoing care needs of patients. In this episode of healthsystemCIO’s Partner Perspective Series, Barr talks with Editor-in-Chief Anthony Guerra about these issues, and much more.

Partner Perspective: As Healthcare Evolves with COVID, So Does Dependence on Digital Identity
Gus Malezis joined Imprivata as its CEO in 2016, and in addition to improving the company’s bottom line, he instituted a renewed focus on customer service. That powered a resurgence in the company and a redefinition of the services it would provide to healthcare customers, with an increasing focus on digital identity services. That new direction for its product line seems prescient, as the healthcare industry shifted quickly to respond to COVID – ramping up remote and virtual care, greatly expanding telehealth services and utilizing remote workers to handle burgeoning capacity challenges. Malezis also says Imprivata is partnering to support customers during this difficult time, putting off the sales-call mentality for later. In this episode of healthsystemCIO’s Partner Perspective Series, Malezis talks with Editor-in-Chief Anthony Guerra and describes how authentication services will face increased demand as healthcare organizations change the way they provide care as a result of their COVID experiences.

Tackling the Toughest Problem in Healthcare IT Security: Medical Devices
If managing security can be described as a bear, then medical device security can only be called an octopus. That's because it seems to be the one security challenge healthcare IT professionals have the most trouble getting their arms around. This point is made abundantly clear by the fact that most health systems can't even get a good inventory of what devices they have or exactly where they are; let alone the security status of each. In this critical webinar, we'll hear from leaders who have made it their mission to get a firm handle on their medical devices so these life-saving machines can never be used for harm.
