Weekly Training: Why You Numb Out
So this week, I wanted to talk about numbing out. Why it happens, what it’s hiding, and how to tackle it in a healthy way.
Because the more you reject or ignore an emotional state, the more often numbing out will happen, and the more you’ll turn to potentially unhealthy coping mechanisms. With everything going on these days, it’s more important than ever to bring some conscious awareness into things. I hope you listen in.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information. In this episode, I talk about the art of saying no—and it is an art. Over the next 14 days I invite you to say no without feeling like you have to justify yourself or giving a backstory for your no. A lot of people grow up as kids feeling like they’re not able to say no in their family system and that causes them to feel like their no doesn’t matter as an adult. Listen in for hear more.

Roger Nygard - The Truth About Marriage
Why is marriage so difficult? Should you even bother? This week I sat down with acclaimed documentarian Roger Nygard. Using his latest film, The Truth About Marriage as our focal point, we explore partnership in all its forms, biology vs. culture, and the origins of monogamy.
Roger Nygard is perhaps best known for his acclaimed documentary Trekkies, about the most obsessive fans in the Universe. Nygard’s previous documentary, The Nature of Existence, addressed the impossible subject of the world’s philosophies, religions, and belief systems. Nygard has also directed television series such as “The Office” and “The Bernie Mac Show.” His work as a film editor includes “Grey’s Anatomy,” “The League,” and Emmy-nominated episodes of “Who Is America?” and “VEEP” and “Curb Your Enthusiasm.” Nygard has made several other award-winning films, including the car-salesman cult-film, Suckers, and a profile of UFO fanatics, Six Days in Roswell, and now the documentary The Truth About Marriage, accompanied by The Truth About Marriage companion book. Most recently he co-produced and edited The Comedy Store, a documentary about the comedians who came through this world-famous LA club, as well as editing scenes from Borat 2 (Borat Subsequent Moviefilm). Next up: Curb Your Enthusiasm season 11.

Weekly Training: How To Call Someone Forward
Today we’re going to talk to someone about how to call someone forward and not call them out. When we call someone out it’s often about satiating our own ego and almost never has the desired impact on the other person or our relationship with them. We often deploy shame, guilt or anger to call someone out.
Many of us haven’t been taught any other way to give feedback in a productive way. Calling someone forward means we communicate from a position of invitation and camaraderie. It’s about being a mirror for another person. So listen in to find out how to call someone forward. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information. Learn more about your ad choices. GS Youngblood - Embodying Masculinity, Creating Structure, and Moving Into the Heart
This week's interview is with GS Youngblood, and it is chock-full of useful advice and insight. In our conversation, we deep-dive into his exciting new book, "The Masculine in Relationship", and cover sexual leadership, the importance of embodiment practice, where we make mistakes in relationships, and what it looks like to respond in a grounded way instead of pure reactivity. I encourage you to listen in with your partner for this one!
GS coaches men in relationship how to live, love, and lead from their Masculine core. He is the author of 'The Masculine in Relationship: A Blueprint for Inspiring the Trust, Lust, and Devotion of a Strong Woman. He has been a student and creator in the fields of men's work for 10 years. Through this lens of Masculine leadership, he also pulls in principles from a variety of fields: psychology, martial arts, tango, meditation, and BDSM. All of his writings are filtered through the laboratory of his and his clients' real-world, long term relationships (including the successes and spectacular failures) to see what actually works and what doesn't.

Weekly Training: How To Deal With Your Relationship Problems
Today we’re talking about conflict and how to deal with relationship problems. I’ve been getting a lot of questions about how to deal with relational conflict and turn conflict into connection. It’s hard to think clearly when you’re disconnected from the emotional data that’s in you.

Weekly Training: Increasing Sovereignty
This week I’m going to talk about increasing sovereignty. I’ve seen that people have been struggling to find a sense of individuality or sovereignty in their life because so much of their opinions and beliefs and identity are outsourced to these large systems like, politics, religion, media and groups. We need the duality between the individual and the collective.
