Starting at age 17, Matt embarked on a health journey, grappling with unexplained neurological symptoms. Despite consulting several medical professionals, he received no clear diagnosis. He then explored the impact of diet on health. Initially, he attempted Atkins and keto diets and managed to lose weight but saw no relief from his neurological symptoms. Next, he tried a vegan diet inspired by The Game Changers, but instead of improving, his health deteriorated further due to what he believed were nutrient deficiencies. Frustrated, he experimented with an anti-dieting approach, which only exacerbated his condition. In a drastic change, he switched to a carnivorous diet, experiencing the first signs of improvement. He committed to this diet, incorporating unprocessed animal products and experiencing significant symptom relief and weight loss. However, severe cramps emerged as a new issue. To counter this, he added carbohydrates from honey and fruit to his diet, following the advice of Saladino and Ray Peat. While this solved the cramping, he gained weight and lost muscle definition. A stint of consuming more carbs than meat led to blurry vision and eye floaters, but despite tests, the cause remained elusive. Demetrios is currently in his fifteenth month of following the carnivore diet. Initially, he used raw honey with the comb as a substitute for sugar, which helped him gradually reduce his cravings for that harmful substance. However, around the second or third month, he started experiencing significant insulin spikes, sugar cravings, heartburn, and increased hunger even from consuming honey.
