Hello and welcome to the latest episode of the Leadership in Insurance Podcast where this week we are lucky enough to be joined by Trent Brown CEO of Australia-based Knightcorp. As well as sharing a truly inspiring story of insurance innovation, Trent also shares a lot of insight that I will take forward into my own business. Do give this one a listen, I hope you enjoy this one as much as I did. Here are some of the highlights…Creating an agile and innovative culture with a customer-centric ethosWhat defines an insurtech? Technologically native insurance businesses vs. insurance SaaSKnightcorp’s mission to do things differently in an inherently non-traditional environmentChange is who then what - we need people to drive changeHow do we augment the process not replace?Who is the true customer? To change broking you need to change the whole ecosystemPeople are looking for a better experience, at a point they are going to demand it‘First who then what’ - Change is a people action, once you have the people right, the rest falls into placeBuilding loyalty into the culture and fostering a growth mindset, not a replacement mindsetInsurance has a replacement mindset - we replace like for like - that inhibits growth. Growth democratizes influence and power in organizationsBalance is key to building a team - talent beats experience but you need experience in your team. Promote talent not tenureregulation and 3rd parties in the broking ecosystems are the inhibitors to growth - we cant evolve beyond our carrier partners but that is not an excuse to stand stillThank you Trent for your time, it was great to speak to you! This Podcast was brought to you by FinPro, an executive recruitment business that works in the Insurance and Insurtech space. Our host in FinPro Director, Alex BondPlease like and subscribe if you enjoyed this podcast Hosted on Acast. Hello and welcome to the latest episode of the Leadership in Insurance Podcast where this week we are lucky enough to be joined by Dax Craig, co-founder and president of Pie Insurance.Pie doesn’t need much of an introduction to those of us in the insurtech world, but for those who don’t know Pie, they are a workers’ compensation insurer with a direct distribution model and a fully digital experience. Their aim is to serve small businesses with insurance that is easy, accessible and affordable. We dig into what it takes to grow an insurtech, Pie’s journey from start up to scale up and how our goalposts can change. What is actually outdated? Is it just the tech that’s missing?🚀 ‘Culture eats strategy for breakfast’ - how do you maintain culture at scale?🚀 The concept of a ‘Unicorn’ - it’s quite literally a mythical term that doesn’t exist, so is it a helpful term?🚀 The art vs science argument for insurance : underwriters vs actuaries, are they at odds over price?Thank you Dax for your time, it was great to speak to you! This Podcast was brought to you by FinPro, an executive recruitment business that works in the Insurance and Insurtech space. Our host in FinPro Director, Alex BondPlease like and subscribe if you enjoyed this podcast Hosted on Acast. Silicon Valley Bank : Executive Liability & What it means for InsurTech : A Conversation with Max Bruner, CEO & Founder of Anzen

We have an extra episode out on The Leadership In Insurance Podcast today, we don't normally release an episode on a Friday but this bonus episode is particularly topical for everything that has happened this past week.I connected with Max Bruner, CEO & Founder of Anzen Insurance this week after following his insightful commentary and advice for founders in light of the Silicon Valley Bank events. The last week has without a doubt been a roller coaster ride for tech founders, employees, investors, and executives impacted by the failure of Silicon Valley Bank… at the mercy of the markets, the media, and the federal government, and initially with many more questions than answers. After the Federal Reserve, Treasury, and FDIC guaranteed depositors were protected in full, a collective sigh of relief was breathed by bank depositors and everyone in their orbit. With the help of Brett McKenzie, we got together this week to record an extra episode discussing #SVB and how the turn of events is impacting the insurtech ecosystem. Here are some of Max's recommendations - & tune in to this episode to hear more... 🎧✅ Have a cash runway: don’t learn the hard way the way many of us have—expect a several month slowdown in #VC financing and do what you can to find an extra three months or more of runway than you had planned last week.✅ Diversify your accounts: be aware of what is covered and what is not under the #fdic for each account. ✅ Have at least two banking partners with active accounts. Don’t concentrate all funds in one sector specific bank.✅ Be certain that your payroll provider is diversified in their treasury management. ✅ Know what a sweep account is—the pros and cons—and know that you can control your funds and have appropriate short-term liquidity if invested in securities. Thanks again Max Bruner for not only getting together this week to record this bonus episode but also for the valuable insight you are sharing for the insurtech community 🙌This Podcast was brought to you by FinPro, an executive recruitment business that works in the Insurance and Insurtech space. Our host in FinPro Director, Alex BondPlease like and subscribe if you enjoyed this podcast Hosted on Acast.
