24FA Class #25: A Live Experiment in Empathy with Basim Razzo
During a lecture in the Fall 2017 semester, SOC 119 students were moved by Basim's story of tragedy and overcoming hate with empathy. They asked if SOC 119 could bring him to the United States to share his message. On Tuesday, April 10, 2018, that became a reality.

The first half of the class Sam talks to Maureen and Chris, two black students and asks them about the American cultural phenomenon of parts of black culture become modern slang, music tastes, and fashion.
