ARTIS GILMORE | How Basketball Has Changed
American former professional basketball player Artis Gilmore competed in the National Basketball Association (NBA) and American Basketball Association (ABA). On August 12, 2011, Gilmore was admitted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.Gilmore, a standout center during his two years of college at Jacksonville University, guided the Dolphins to the 1970 NCAA Division I championship game before losing to the UCLA Bruins 80–69. Gilmore continues to hold the record for most rebounds per game in NCAA Division I basketball.Gilmore was selected first overall in the 1976 ABA Dispersal draft, which distributed the players in the ABA clubs, like the Kentucky Colonels, after five All-Star seasons with them. Gilmore won the ABA Rookie of the Year, the ABA MVP, and was selected to the team 11 times. Known as "The A-Train," Artis once participated in 670 straight games.What Travis and Artis discussed:
