John 1:43-51 Today we hear Jesus gather more followers; Phillip and Nathanael. Nathanael doubts that the the savior could come from the town of Nazareth. We hear  Jesus' response to this and from it learn that Jesus knows what’s going on inside of us, our thoughts and feelings, and He knows what’s going on outside of us.  Jesus is such a powerful & loving father that there will never be a time when He does not know what’s going on in your life and that brings us comfort today. John 1:19-23 & 35-42 In today's episode, we will hear priests asking John the Baptist who he is. They have journeyed all the way to find him in order to understand who he really was.  We discuss that there are others in the Bible with the same name so it's important to know which John we are reading about.  We also meet Andrew and hear that he was excited to follow Jesus. Andrew couldn't wait to tell his brother, Simon, all about the Messiah. Colossians 3:12-17 & Ephesians 5:20 Today we read Paul's letter to the Colossians. He writes, " And whatever you do, whether in word or action, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him." The kids will learn that this really means in whatever we do. We don't give thanks or serve God only when we are having fun or getting a gift.  To help them understand, we use real life examples: Instead of complaining that they they have to clean up their toys, they can remember they get to clean them up because they are thankful God gave them toys to clean up. Matthew 15:29-39 We continue our compassion series. If you’ve missed the previous ones, please go back and listen as they build upon themselves.  Today, we are learning about compassion from the one who did it best and of course, we are talking about Jesus. The scriptures will show how He had compassion on the hungry crowd. We've heard something similar to this before when Jesus fed the  5,000. The kids are encouraged to look up Mark 6 & 8 and Matthew 14 &15 where both feedings are recorded. Parents, help them identify similarities and differences between them. The crowd tells the blind men to leave Jesus alone, but that doesn't stop them from crying out to their loving Savior. Matthew 14:13-21 Today, we begin a series about compassion. We begin by defining it and seeing how Jesus showed us how to be compassionate through His actions. Jesus had just received some sad news about John the Baptist but despite this, he had compassion on the crowd. He healed the sick and fed them too. There is so much to learn from this story that we will do it again in the future to accommodate talking about more of it. Acts 27:21-44   We pick up from last week's story where we find Paul on rough seas as he journeys to visit Caesar. Paul tells everyone about God's promise He has given him......and guess what!??!??! Every single one of those promises comes true! We discuss that God has given us promises too and read some of these from our Bible today. While we hopefully won't be on a creaky boat with waves crashing all around, we too have times where life feels stormy. Acts 25:10-12 & 27:1-26  This episode introduces Paul and gives a brief history about who he is. Paul is falsely being accused of breaking the law so he asked to be sent to Caesar, since he is a Roman citizen, and discuss his case with him. Today's story picks up here on this exciting journey. Paul boards the creaky ship bound for Italy but on the journey, they encounter rough seas. We will hear the promise God gives Paul and how Paul trusts God even in the storm.
