Also, running a node enables you to prove that nobody manipulates the network or changes the rules. - Creating transactions with your Bitcoin node can enhance security by eliminating or reducing the need to expose private keys.  - What's more, running a Bitcoin node enables you to complete and broadcast transactions from it, thereby avoiding services that can compromise personal information. A node eliminates the use of a block explorer in verifying a transaction status. A block explorer allows a third party to track transaction history while linking it to an IP address. Thus, it can leak physical location details, Bitcoin balance, and financial counterparties. Running a Bitcoin node can help you avoid such issues. Episode 5 - Privacy & Compartmentalization - Using Aliases / Mobile Phone separation

- Separation of personal identity from other identities online. These are referred to as pseudonyms or Nyms. It is important to create different online Nyms to protect your personal identity and reduce your attack vectors. Create different accounts to use for social media, online shopping profiles (Use Privacy.com for purchases) and any other web service or streaming service accounts. YOU DO NOT NEED TO USE YOUR REAL NAME. I want everyone to get into the habit of using garbage info. You can easily keep track of all these accounts inside your Password manager, I suggest using KeypassXC or Bitwarden for a cloud password manager. - Using VPNs can greatly reduce your tracking vector and increase surveillance from your ISP - Create separate email accounts or at a minimum eamil aliases for these Nyms. The next step would also be to have separate names and associating phone numbers. - Phone number sources:  - MySudo - Google Voice - Twilio - Mike Bazzel link - https://inteltechniques.com/blog/2021/10/15/the-privacy-security-osint-show-episode-238/ - Email Services: - Simple Login - https://simplelogin.io/ - Protonamil - Create aliases - https://protonmail.com/ - Tutanota Email - aliases - https://protonmail.com/ - MySudo (can also handle phone numbers) - https://mysudo.com/ Leave a review at the website - Also blogs are being posts - https://closedntwrk.com Consider Donations to FOSS Applications and Projects: - Donated to Signal (tax deductible) - https://signal.org/en/donate/ - Became a CalyxOS Sustainer - 5g unlimited data hotspot (750 a year, 236 dollars was tax deductible New Developments: - I'm on Twitter - https://twitter.com/ClosedNtwrk Ted Talk - Glenn Greenwald: Why privacy matters - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pcSlowAhvUk Email Services I use: Tutanota - https://tutanota.com/ Proton Mail - https://protonmail.com/ Farady Bags I use - They Accept Crypto - https://godarkbags.com/ Calyx Institute - https://calyxinstitute.org/ Podcast 2.0 apps - https://podcastindex.org/apps

Episode 3 - Practical Steps To Be More Private And Secure

In this episode I talk about some very simple and practical applications and techniques to start safeguarding your personal information. These can be implemented on day 1 of your privacy journey.  I discuss the following: - Securing purchasing transactions with the use of https://privacy.com - Implementing "sudo" profiles with virtual phone numbers, email and text using https://mysudo.com - Using an email aliasing tool called Simple Login to avoid the spam train after signing up for services - https://simplelogin.io - Setting up a password manager to manage all your logins to websites so that you never use the same password on more than one website. I talk briefly about KeyPass and 1Password but I'm currently using Bitwarden because you can self host it if you desire. - https://bitwarden.com I also discovered a great podcast on the same topic called "Opt Out" and I have been really enjoying it so I wanted to share that as well. - https://www.optoutpod.com I have no affiliation with any of the services I have mentioned. This is purely my opinion and I may change in the future and if I do I will be sure to discuss that on the podcast. Feel free to reach out to me via our website at https://closedntwrk.com
