Almost Accurate

What’s up people! This week Almost Accurate is back to compare and contract two EXTREMELY different series. Couldn’t guess? Well no worries, it’s She Hulk and Only Murders in the Building! One is a well-established series that is concuding its second series on Hulu, and another is just barely getting underway on Disney +. Turns out, they couldn’t be more different and Jake and Ryan have PLENTY to say about how they turn out. It sure looks like a giant corporate like Disney sure can have different ways of approaching a series, don’t they?  Hosted on Acast. Well well well.. if the boys haven't found themselves a room and if it isn't time to apparently talk about what the streets are saying is apparently the most WOKE movie of all time apparently, that's right, it's time to talk about Prey. Which in case you want to peer through all the right wing bullshit about this being a woke movie because it dares to depict a semi-accurate view of life in the early 1700's before English settlers had conquered what would become the United States, it's actually an interesting, fun take on what a Predator movie in the early 1700's would actually be like. Spoiler alert: it's fun. It's a wonderful, well- acted and well scripted movie and we are actually quite happy to have partaken in it. Well the boys are back on Google Meet and if the world wasn't already a mess, so is DC. Seriously... what are they DOING over there? Batgirl is DONE. DC is going around to everyone's house and erasing their hard drives, everyone got fired, and no one is legally allowed to even say the word Batgirl anymore. That 10 year plan they're talking about? Don't hold your breath. Anyhow... enough about Warner Brothers suddenly merging with Discovery out of the blue, it's time for a spoiler chat on the excellent third season of The Umbrella Academy. Happy Shark week! We don’t talk about Shark Week on this episode whatsoever, we just are trying to get into the spirit of the season. But good lord are there a bunch of new things to talk about! We’ve still been playing Stray and that game is incredible, and wraps things up witha delightful little ending. Sometimes it’s great to just kick back and pretend to be a cat for an afternoon. Makes for some great stories. And you’ll make a lot of robot friends in the process too! Umbrella Academy realeased their season 3 something like 14 years ago it feels like, and we’re finally getting around to watching it and talking about it! What an upward trajectroy this show has been on from that absolutely drab and lackluter first season to now! If you haven’t watched this show, don’t sleep on it. It’s amazing and season 3 is the best one yet! Marvel also detailed their upcoming Phase 5 and 6 and they will NEVER EVER stop releasing new content. We break down the entire list and nearly lose our voices in the process. Yeah, there was a lot to get through on this week’s episode. It’s a shame to still be over Zoom but that’s just the way it goes nowadasys folks. After a much needed break, Jake is back from France and he's brought home a lovely souvenir. That's right, it's Covid! So apologies in advance for both a) the audio quality of this episode and b) the overall horrible sound of one of the hosts voice, and their general overall grumpy demeanor 😂But it's not all bad news! Not all all- the boys have two VERY exciting things to talk about in this week's episode. Stay is out (and it's free depending on which confusing tier of PlayStation Plus that you're currently subscribed to) and it's a very vibe and fun game where you get to play as a cat running around an abandoned, post-apocalyptic city. Both of which are great, and man oh man is it a relief to finally be talking about things that are GOOD. No joke, we literally are in a golden age of good stuff coming out in the TV format and we are so lucky to be able to finally have new stuff that is good and new and man, what a great time to have a podcast. Nintendo had a mini-direct where they announced stuffed that we've already played like Persona and Mega-Man but if YOU haven't played them yet you really should (because they've awesome games and come on... you really got something better to do right now?) This week the boys return with a new episode full of NEWS! How much new stuff are we talking about??! Well since we missed last week we have some content to catch up on, but there's plenty (a few) new things to talk about this week. How about that Lyle Lyle Crocodile trailer that just dropped? Looks good doesn't it (not really) How about how one or both of us thought it might actually be a continuation of the Loki extended universe and not a property in the public domain that Sony decided to appropriate and turn into a new musical franchise? But.... even with that potential disappointment, there are still plenty of new stuff to talk about! Square Enix is really trying to squeeze all they can out of the Final Fantasy 7 franchise by finally releasing a few scant details about Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, and offering an entirely different (and new) take on a Final Fantasy 7 remake, with Final Fantasy 7 Ever Crisis! Well.... no new episode this week guys, but keeping with our recent Star Wars theme, lets turn back the pages and take a look at the original Star Wars Trilogy! FYI- the only reason we covered this two years ago during the very height of COVID was because there was literally NOTHING new coming out, and Star Wars is comfort food. SPOILER ALERT- all of these are good movies. But are they overall still the best in the franchise? (Yes). Here's looking to be back soon with some more new episodes! It’s another week, but Jake and Ryan are still on the highway to the DANGER ZONE. That’s right, it’s time to talk about the (excellent) Top Gun seuqel, Top Gun Maverick! No spoilers, but this is one of the most fun, popcorn movies you can see in theaters right now. It’s seriously so much fun. Go see it!  We’re also breaking down reactions to Star Wars Celebration 2022, the newly announced Skeleton Crew series, and that Cassian Andor trailer! Sony is also balling out with spinoffs for all of it’s video game franchises. Seriously, they’re pulling an Oprah it seems. Horizon- you get a spinoff series on Netflix. God of War- you get a spinoff series on Amazon. Gran Turismo??! HELL YEAH Gran Turismo you’re somehow getting a spinoff series on a yet to be announced platform as well.
