In this series on The Way of Perfection (Part 5), Pastor Kong Hee shares that perhaps the most powerful way we grow deeper in union with God is through solitude—something Jesus practised constantly. The moment we are fully alone, we are in God’s presence. Simply by being alone, we find rest and restoration for our bodies, minds, and emotions.

Every Christian has a ministry to fulfil. Just like how Jesus’ ministry moved from Bethlehem (birth), Nazareth (growth), Galilee (miracles), to Jerusalem (greatest work—the cross), believers must progress in their walk and ministry. We are called to use our God-given talents and not waste them. Do not let obstacles such as fear, laziness, neglect and fault-finding hinder your ministry. Let’s honour God’s anointing and boldly step into our calling to fulfil His purpose.

God often calls us to do a little bit more. Just look at Jesus, Noah, Abraham, and the apostles, who had passion and went beyond the ordinary. Small extra efforts can lead to great impact. If John and Luke had not written their gospels, how will we have all the amazing Scriptures on which we base our faith? In contrast, Judas chose betrayal, embodying traits of unfaithfulness, deception, and dishonour. Let us decide to reject fear, ingratitude, and disloyalty, choosing instead to honour God, our calling, and our leaders.

In The Way of Perfection (Part 4), Pastor Kong Hee shares on the importance of Silence & Solitude. After Jesus’ powerful encounter of being baptised in the Holy Spirit at the Jordan River, the first thing He did was to retreat into the wilderness—a quiet, solitary place, for divine encounter. Like Jesus, the busier life gets and the more successful we become, the more we must withdraw into silence and solitude, to grow in our spirituality.

In The Way of Perfection (Part 3), Pastor Kong Hee teaches on simplicity—not about having nothing, but living with less. Through the Parable of the Rich Fool, Jesus warns against three enemies of simplicity: materialism, busyness, and pride. Life isn’t measured by possessions—what if more is less? Simplicity helps us grasp “the life that is truly life” (1 Tim. 6:19).

In the second part of "The Way of Perfection", Pastor Kong Hee teaches on the prayer of faith—not as a one-time decision but as a continuous spiritual journey. He outlines seven steps in the practices of faith, which result in the alignment of our hearts, minds, words, and actions with God’s promises and will.

Thanksgiving is a defining characteristic of a Spirit-filled Christian—it should be our way of life! The more we are filled with the Spirit, the more our heart overflows with thanksgiving.
