The History of Racism, and Q&A
On today’s Bible Answer Man broadcast (06/19/23), Hank takes time in the second segment to discuss some of the things that we’ve almost never heard about the history of racism. For example, prior to the nineteenth century, Christians were the most vocal opponents of slavery—you think of people like John Newton, author of the wonderful song Amazing Grace who once was a slave owner before converting to Christianity and becoming one of the most vocal opponents to slavery. But today you have secular progressives extolling the virtues of the Enlightenment and denouncing Christianity as though it is a religion of racism and slavery. If you think about the Enlightenment clearly, you don’t just think about social reform, scientific development, or progress; what you think about is some of the main figures within the Enlightenment—figures who are lauded. People like Voltaire, who said, “The negro race is a species of men as different from ours as the breed of spaniels is from that of greyhounds.” That they are of a “different nature” and “greatly inferior.”Hank also answers the following questions:What is your opinion of Bethel Sozo? What is the difference between giving first fruits and tithing? Are Christians required to tithe?
