S12 Ep57: All Roads Lead To Florence
With the Giro d’Italia now in the rear-view mirror Tadej Pogačar can afford to put his feet up (relatively-speaking) and watch how his likely rivals for the Tour de France fare in their final warm-up races.
Daniel Friebe is at the Critérium du Dauphiné having transformed into Television’s Daniel Friebe by entering the nearest telephone box before emerging with a slightly bigger microphone. He handed over the baton to Graham Willgoss, who will be part of our Tour de France team alongside Richard Abraham and Mitch Docker.
Graham, Richard and Mitch recap the opening couple of days of the Dauphiné and ask what to expect from the race in the French Alps over the rest of the week.
Our Tour de France 2024 coverage starts here…

S12 Ep56: Girovagando 2024: The Highlights
The Giro d’Italia that ended last weekend was the ninth The Cycling Podcast has covered on the ground, in full, with daily episodes from every stage.
Over that near decade, it’s fair to say that our love of the ‘Corsa Rosa’ and its host nation has deepened and broadened with every edition.
Daniel Friebe was initially nonplussed with the route unveiled last autumn - thinking it lacked sporting uncertainty and both historical and topographical showpieces - but the journey from Turin to Rome ended up both reviving old loves, revealing new ones and providing a compelling canvas for the racing itself, for all that Tadej Pogačar robbed the General Classification contest of any suspense.
In this podcast, you’ll hear some of Daniel’s personal highlights from road trip he shared with Brian Nygaard - and to which you, as listeners were vicariously invited, down and up ‘The Bel Paese’, on and off-course, hopefully into the soul of the Giro d’Italia.

S12 Ep52: Better Late Than Never
In the May episode of The Cycling Podcast Féminin, Rose Manley, Denny Gray and Rebecca Charlton look back over the recent Spanish stage racing from the comfort of their own cabaña.
Questions may have hung over Demi Vollering’s form after a consistent if lacklustre run in the Spring Classics, but the SD Worx rider answered in no uncertain manner with three dominant performances across the Vuelta Femenina, Itzulia Women and Vuelta a Burgos. Some unexpected rivals emerged though, most notably Evita Muzic who is priming herself to be France’s great hope at this year’s Tour de France Femmes. The team also discuss a huge comeback win for Lotta Henttala at the Vuelta a Burgos, her first victory in over five years after struggles with both her physical and mental health.
This month’s feature visits the topic of latecomers to the sport. These are riders who make the jump from regular jobs to elite racing careers in their late 20s and 30s. We hear from Jayco-Alula’s Mavi Garcia, Movistar’s Mareille Meijering and Coop-Repsol’s Monica Greenwood about their journeys into cycling and the peculiar life lessons they’ve learned along the way.
