With so many icons leaving us at an alarming rate, we can barely keep up with all the tributes. And this week, even though we had just recorded a solid three tributes to the long gone soul producer and arranger Charles Stepney, the more recently departed legendary composer Burt Bacharach and Television's visionary co-founder, Tom Verlaine, we got late word that Trugoy the Dove from De La Soul, a/k/a David Jolicouer, had passed (so we'll have a feature on him next time.) Our two Verlaine tributes come via Matt Jencik from Reckless Records in Chicago, and Why Patti Smith Matters author Caryn Rose.
