A recent systematic review has come out with the title, "No relationship between the acromiohumeral distance and pain in adults with subacromial pain syndrome: a systematic review and meta-analysis"β
Often we are taught impingement is due to limited subacromial space.β
The type of acromion has also been theorized as a contributing factor?π€ What has science told us in regards to these issues?π€ Are impingement theories holding up to scientific testing?π€ Most importantly, what does all this mean when you sit in front of a patient with shoulder pain?π₯π₯ Join Jarod and Mark as they discuss this and more in this week's episode of the Modern Pain Podcast.π₯π₯Article Links:https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/29490599/https://www.researchgate.net/publication/233562428_Subacromial_impingement_syndrome_a_musculoskeletal_condition_or_a_clinical_illusionhttps://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/19336812/ps://www.thelancet.com/journals/lancet/article/PIIS0140-6736(17)32457-1/fulltexthttps://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/27422460/https://www.nature.com/articles/s41598-020-76704-zhttps://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/29065348/*********************************************************************πΈ - Follow us on Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/modernpaincare/π¦ - Follow us on Twitter - https://www.twitter.com/modernpaincare/ποΈ - Listen to our Podcast - https://www.modernpaincare.com____________________________________Modern Pain Care is a company dedicated to spreading evidence-based and person-centered information about pain, prevention, and overall fitness and wellness

SI Joint Dysfunction????
π©π©This joint nearly had me quit PT.π©π©π₯π₯ It convinced me that I will never be capable of feeling that millimeters of movement that supposedly were the key to "fixing" people.π₯π₯π Thankfully science has been very helpful in putting the SI joint in perspectiveπ€ Can we detect millimeters of movement reliably?π€ Does SI joint dysfunction even exist?π€ Is this a case of palpatory pareidolia?(not sure what pareidolia means?
