469: How to Achieve Inner Peace
Have you ever wondered how some people are able to remain relaxed, calm, and seem to be genuinely happy no matter what life throws at them, while others seem to live in a constant state of stress? What’s the first (albeit smaller) group’s secret? If you’re someone who allows external circumstances to dictate your mood, this episode is for you. Today, I’ll show you how to remain calm and centered, no matter how difficult life gets. You’ll learn the exact tools I use to deal with stressful situations and how I see these moments from a fresh perspective instead of letting them ruin my day. You’ll also learn how finding inner peace helps you make better decisions and bring out the best in you and your loved ones in each moment. KEY TAKEAWAYS Why inner peace is the doorway to productivity and happiness. Every waking moment is an opportunity for choosing gratitude. How pursuing happiness makes you unhappy. The power of taking full responsibility for how you react to life’s challenges. How suffering and past traumas make us grow. Why you don’t need to feel happy to find inner peace. 467: How to Sleep Better
So many people I know suffer from sleep disorders, and I used to be one of them. My sleeping schedule was a mess for the better half of a year, averaging 2-4 hours each night, so I know how bad it can get. As a result of chronic sleep deprivation, I developed severe anxiety, depression, and PTSD as a result. But I found a way out, and that’s why I am passionate about sharing what I did with anyone who needs help. In today’s episode, I’ll tell you exactly how I overcame my struggles with sleep, so you don’t have to go through that same misery. I also share my evening routine for falling and staying asleep, including which supplements I take, what I read to fall asleep faster, and the mindset that allows me to have a deep, restful sleep each night. KEY TAKEAWAYS What I learned about sleep supplementation by trying dozens of sleep aids. How I tweaked my nighttime ritual to improve my sleep drastically. How the food you eat and when you eat affects how well you sleep. Why different books activate different parts of your brain and how that affects sleep. The quality of your thoughts before bed affects how well-rested you’ll wake up the next morning. 466: The World Needs YOU to Lead
We humans are facing many daunting challenges that sometimes make it difficult to find hope in the world today. But as circumstances get tougher, the need for each of us to step up as leaders, who embody the best human qualities, is greater than ever. You might be thinking, “I’m not cut out to be a leader” but the reality is that everyone who influences another person—whether at home, at work, or in relationships with loved ones— is a leader. And that’s what we’re discussing in today’s episode—how you can show up at your best, for those you love and those you lead. Today I start by sharing and expanding on an excerpt from the powerful Who Do We Choose To Be by Margaret J. Wheatley. You’ll learn how anyone can choose to be a leader through acts of courage, compassion, and love. In combination with Margaret Wheatley’s expertise, I’m sharing insights that will help you determine where you can step up as a leader and the mindset that will allow you to show up at your best, even in times of uncertainty and chaos. KEY LEARNINGS: To change the world, you need to change yourself first. Leadership doesn’t have to be global. You can lead through many small and thoughtful acts each day. How focusing on what you excel at makes you a better leader. If you’re influencing other people, you’re a leader. The power of defining your vision of the type of leader you want to be. Why great leaders focus only on the things they can control. The importance of being grateful despite your difficult circumstances. Self-doubt and fear of failure can be paralyzing at times, but I’ve found that breakthroughs happen when you take risks and put yourself out there. On that note, today’s episode is a special one. It includes a story I’ve never told before and the risk I took that led to an incredible breakthrough. KEY TAKEAWAYS How mustering up the courage to meet one of my favorite authors turned into something beyond what I could have ever imagined! Do you ever struggle with changing your habits and behaviors? Today’s guest believes that lifestyle changes don’t have to be unpleasant and that you can even make them fun and enjoyable. Mae Steigler was the first employee at Organifi and is now their CEO, playing a crucial role in getting Organifi on the INC. 5000’s fastest growing companies list and being awarded Forbes Great Places to Work more than four years in a row.
