091 Pamela Wallace: Witness the Rise of a Screenwriter
Academy award-winning screenwriter, Pamela Wallace, knew she was going to be a writer when she was a young girl. First, magazine articles and romance novels; then, screenplays and TV movies. Pam fought hard to own her talent and showcase it in Hollywood where women are often second to men and do become invisible as they age.
“The point of getting older - having gained wisdom - is to pass it on and make the path easier for the women who follow me.” - Pamela Wallace
Now, in the ‘age of generativity’, Pam continues to support and teach screenwriting and hopes to create a nonprofit to raise up diverse women whose economic status adds another layer of discrimination in this difficult industry.

089 Joy Loverde: Visionary Spokesperson for Eldercare
The world is just catching up with Joy Loverde, a champion of eldercare and family caregiving
for over 30 years. In the second of two widely acclaimed books, Who Will Take Care of Me
When I’m Old? (2017), Joy speaks frankly and considerately about planning for the realities of
aging and living longer. Women should start planning in their 40s so as older adults they will
have enough money and housing that feels like home. She also encourages women to have
authentic conversations with each other about experiences of growing older. Joy consults
widely with companies about respectful messaging of their products and services to the mature
market. She embraces technology as a tool for resourceful living, including robots becoming
part of our lives. Joy’s consistent message: If you want to know about being old, observe and
ask the people who are old.
Old people are living answers to our lives. - Joy Loverde

087 Kate Kunkel: Music Helps Us Stay in Tune
Life in Ecuador lends itself to mindfulness, meditation and music. However, no matter where we live, the quality of our lives and our health is intimately connected to our diet and lifestyle. That is what determines how balanced our gut microbiome is, which determines how robust our immune system, and ultimately, how well we retain healthy brain functioning.
When her mom was diagnosed with dementia, Kate set her sights on understanding this cruel disease and how to prevent it. Her discoveries led to lifestyle changes that improved her own memory and health. Now, Kate guides others to do the same as a vegan nutritionist, health coach and sound therapist.

086 Kathryn Haueisen: It Takes a Village to Write a Story
Kathy Haueisen first moved to Houston with her family in 1982. After a brief return to her home state of Ohio, she again settled in Texas in 1996. Already a journalist and published writer, she earned a Master of Divinity degree in 1985, intending to teach creative writing. Instead, she took a 35 year detour as an ordained pastor before retiring to write more in 2014. For the past few years Kathy embarked on an unusual project - writing her first historical fiction novel. The topic turned out to be of significant interest - the 400th Anniversary of the Mayflower.
Writing is like a drug; once you receive a check you are addicted. - Kathryn Haueisen

084 Linda Randall: Sharing Your Stories: Sad or Happy
Feisty and outspoken! That is how we describe Linda Randall - semi-retired psychotherapist, board member of Village Chicago, active and resilient. Linda does not mince words when it comes to loss and grieving. Loss comes in many forms: physical, psychological, emotional, cognitive and sexual.
The old adage, Linda concedes, that tells us ‘The best is yet to come’, doesn’t feel true anymore. Yet, she continues, we are all resilient or we wouldn’t be here. Linda encourages us to think about all the things we’ve done in our lives and write them down. That way we remember what made us strong women.
“The best way to cope with loss is to tell the truth!” - Linda Randall

083 Marie Kisiel: Upstaging Time--Creativity in Later Life
At age 91, Dr. Marie Kisiel continues to pursue her passions as a mentor to
people of all ages and as a writer about seasons in human life, centering on food, learning
and work. The daughter of immigrant parents who had little formal education, Marie ignored
convention by going straight through from high school to a Ph.D. in English with a minor in
Guidance and Counseling. She then married, lived abroad with her husband, settled in the
western suburbs of Illinois, had two “marvelous” daughters, and mentored-taught adults in
college for nearly 30 years. Creativity is the theme that Marie integrates into her mentoring,
teaching and writing. She now lives apart from her husband of 57 years and is grateful for the
excellent care he receives in an assisted living facility. Marie strives to “enjoy every single
day” and advises all of us to “not take life and people for granted.”
" My passion is to bring out every person’s potential and creativity." - Dr. Marie Kisiel

082 Susanne Dumbleton: The Power of Women as Forces for Human Rights
Susanne Dumbleton, Ph.D., does the research and then creates courses--e.g., Little Women, Joan of Arc, women leaders of social movements--to enlighten adults about the fight for women’s and human rights in the United States and around the world. She also is a prolific writer of OpEds, articles and essays concerning social justice reforms. A career in higher education enabled Susanne to pursue innovative paths in teaching and academic leadership, particularly serving adult and nontraditional students. Married for 50 years to a man who shared fully in their domestic life and supported her professionally, Susanne was “able to have it all, just not all at once.” Patience, passion, flexibility, reinvention and caring relationships are keys to Susanne’s resilience and vitality. Learning to live solo after her husband’s passing in 2016, Susanne is committed to living a life of gratitude and enriching lives of other people.
"I wanted a life not just a career, and that has required me to make choices."
