Vela is back, and LAFC are scary again! Doop, say the Union! Johannsson to MLS?
Doop! The Union project is fully mature, and they took years of frustrations out on Toronto FC. Andrew, David, Doyle and Calen give Jim Curtin and Philadelphia their due and wonder whether a double is in the cards. A double is possible because the Supporters’ Shield is back, as the decision not to award the trophy in 2020 was reversed by the Supporters’ Shield Foundation. Doyle is, of course, a Shield truther, and he says this proves the trophy means more than it ever has before. Calen, meanwhile, is back on the Carlos Vela hype train, even if LAFC’s star still looks a half step slow. Alicia Rodriguez (SBNation) also drops by to drop some Chicharito and Guillermo Barros Schelotto takes and explain what’s going on in San Jose and Sacramento. 8:00 – Huge win for the Union! What’s it mean, and now what? 25:07 – LAFC gets Carlos Vela back and they’re back in the MLS Cup convo 37:02 – INTERVIEW: Alicia Rodriguez on LAFC, Chicharito, Guillermo Barros Schelotto 58:16 – Playoff races heat up! So who are we watching down the stretch? 1:03:04 – Nagbe? Zelarayan? Maxi? Vela? What’s the biggest return from injury? 1:07:54 – 22U22 and Aron Johannsson in the mailbag!
