Leigh-Anne Burns, RD has practiced medical nutritional therapy for over 20 years.  A specialist in the area of nutrition support, she earned a BS from Northeastern Louisiana University and an MS from Louisiana Technical University.  She spent fifteen years practicing as a Nutritionist for the E. A. Conway LSU Health Sciences Center in Monroe and serving as an Instructor for there LSU School of Medicine in Shreveport, where she cared for the critically ill, including oncology patients. She has dedicated much effort to cancer prevention and early detection. She teaches medical students, residents, and fellows various areas of nutrition and participates in both research and patient care in the area of oncology and cancer prevention. She has specialized in the clinical practice care of oncology patients, spending much of the last seventeen years caring for patients with neuroendocrine carcinoid cancer.

This interview was recorded live on Zoom with an audience of NET cancer patients and caregivers. In part 2 of the interview, Dr. Chauhan continues his discussion of issues that impact NET patients and answers live questions directly from patients. Dr. Aman Chauhan is board certified in internal medicine and specializes in the treatment of neuroendocrine tumors. He is a member of the medical oncology team at the UK Markey Cancer Center dedicated to multidisciplinary evaluation and treatment. His clinical interests include treating NETs, including carcinoid tumors, high-grade neuroendocrine carcinomas, and small and non-small cell lung cancer. As Markey’s director of NET Theranostics, Dr. Chauhan will identify NET patients who qualify for Lutathera® (Lutetium 177 DOTATATE) treatments for gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumors.

Dr. Joseph Dillon, an endocrinologist and neuroendocrine cancer expert, is part of the faculty at the University of Iowa Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center, a Center of Excellence for the treatment of NETs. In this show he will be answering some critical questions regarding how neuroendocrine cancer patients can receive the best care possible.
