Gray Graham: Pottenger’s Prophecy, Epigenetics and Why Being 100% Paleo Might Be Hurting You

What if you could completely change the way your genes are expressed, without using any crazy sci-fi, new-agey machines or drugs? Gray Graham is here to explain exactly that. Gray is the lead author for the book “Pottenger’s Prophecy” and expert in epigenetics. If you're not familiar with the term epigenetics quite yet, don't despair (heck, spell check doesn't even recognize the word!). But this field of study is definitely something you don't want to dismiss: epigenetics has revealed that we have the power to literally reprogram our genes in favor of being lean and strong (instead of fat and flabby). "What we know now is that genes can be turned on or off...based on what we do in our environment: food, exercise, and toxins." - Gray Graham  In this week's show you'll hear about: How you can literally reprogram your genetic expression to live longer Why what you eat has massive implications on the health of your children Why being 100% Paleo or 100% Vegan might be hurting you What nutrition has to do with sexual dysfunction. And much more "The mistake is thinking a diet worked for me then, so I should maintain it for the rest of my life." - Gray Graham Updates from the world of The Fat-Burning Man: Be on the look-out for our newest app “Gluten Free Desserts” – in the meantime, you can check out the eCookbook HERE. We will also be launching the Android version of our best-selling app “Caveman Feast” VERY SOON. :) How about you? Had you heard of "epigenetics" before the show? What do you think about our ability to completely change our own genetic expression through food, exercise and other lifestyle changes? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below.

Today's guest is Danny Dreyer, and his book "ChiRunning" is really the first book that made me question my relationship with running, and then snowballed into rethinking the way I ate as well. I don't usually encourage or recommend many of the books that come my way, but this is one that I seriously love and think a lot of people could benefit from reading.  It's been a great week here, and after some exciting conversations, the one thing I want to ask of you this week is FEEDBACK! So I need you to let us know: What is it we are doing right now that's working? What do you LOVE about the show and FatBurningMan.com? Rich Roll: Vegans vs. Paleo, Alcoholism & Food Addiction, and the Real Food Ultraman

After loads of requests from you loyal listeners, we are pleased to present Mr. Rich Roll! Rich is one of Men's Fitness Magazine's "Top 25 Fittest Men," a fellow top podcaster, plant-fueled endurance athlete, and the author of the best-selling "Finding Ultra." We speak about beating out Jillian Michaels for #1 in Health on iTunes, and I'm pleased to say we got her this week. Interestingly, I have FAR more in common with Rich's point of view as it relates to nutrition and health (despite the fact that he's vegan) than Jillian. You really can be happy and healthy at the same time, and tip of the hat to Rich for walking the walk. Another huge thank you to those who have continued to donate to the show. If you haven't had the chance to donate and would like to, you can do so by clicking HERE and I'll send you 2 of my bestselling ebooks as a special thanks for your support. Denny Hemingson: Living Paleo as a Touring Musician, Dropping 45 Pounds, and Life on the Road with Tim McGraw

Today is a very special episode, because our guest is actually one of our listeners. Denny Hemingson contacted me a few months ago via email and told me about the great success he's had with a Wild Diet-lifestyle. The kicker of all this? He's actually the band leader for Tim McGraw's back-up band. If anyone has some great insight on how to live Paleo/Primal on the road, this is the episode for you! In other exciting news, I am just getting back from Victoria, Canada. I was up there recording with Dave Asprey for a brand new show we'll be doing all about biohacking. We don't even have a name for it yet, but it's going to be awesome. Be sure to sign up below so you'll be the first to hear when that comes out. [ois skin="Postage"] I'd also like to also send a huge thank you to those out there who donated over the last week to support The Fat-Burning Man Show. Every dollar counts when it comes to making sure we can continue to bring the show to you without advertisements or sponsorship. A big shout-out to those who signed up as a supporting member at $9 per month, or even donated $50 or more! If you haven't had a chance to donate yet, and would like to do so, please CLICK HERE. Again, thank you so much for your support. How Tim Mcgraw exercises on the road (hint: he’s a beast). How Denny went from 240 to 194 by eating bacon, butter, and eggs. Vinnie Tortorich: Fitness Confidential, Why Exercise Doesn't Work, and Why Jerry Seinfeld is Wrong about Breakfast

Today we have a oft-requested guest, Mr. Vinnie Tortorich. He's Hollywood's go-to guy for fitness and weight loss, coined as America's Angriest Trainer. Vinnie is also the author of the terrific book Fitness Confidential, where he debunks the myths and gimmicks of the weight loss industry. Vinnie is hilarious - you're going to dig this episode. Before we get to the show, I have a very special request. Unlike a lot of podcasts out there, The Fat-Burning Man Show is entirely listener supported. No advertisements, no sponsors, no corporations lurking in the background trying to influence what we have to say. As you know, the show and a lot of the content on FatBurningMan.com is completely free, and I want to keep it that way for as long as I can. With the amazing growth we've seen over the past year and a half for the show (we just passed 2 million listens!!!), we're barraged by companies desperate to advertise their wares on the show. But for the reasons I describe on this page, we always say no. If you like what you're hearing each week, and what we're coming up with on the blog, I would be so grateful if you donate to help support the Fat-Burning Man Team (Yes! We have a whole team!) and keep us commercial free. I'm also giving away 2 very special surprises to everyone who helps out by donating as little as a dollar. Click here to learn how you can help support the show (and win 2 gifts and a message from Abel on your voicemail...)  Thanks, you rock! Alright, on the show. Vinnie and I chat about: Why the fitness and weight loss industry thrives on products that don’t work Why exercise is a horrible way to lose weight And why Jerry Seinfeld is wrong about what he orders for breakfast

Dr Charles Livingston: Supplements, I.F. for Beginners and To Vaccinate or Not To Vaccinate

We're here today with Dr Charles Livingston, who is a Board Certified Chiropractic Physician and the man behind "Fat Loss Factor." His goal is to give clients a lifestyle change that is simple, ultra effective and allows them to still eat their favorite foods. We cover a lot of really interesting topics in this show, I think you're really going to like it.  Before we get to it though, if I could ask one favor of you all. If you haven't already left a review for the show on iTunes, I would appreciate it so much if you took a minute to do so. We're actually going to be giving away a prize in the next few days to one lucky review-writer (not telling you what it is though!). So if you can take a minute to scoot over to iTunes, that would be great. Today Dr. Charles & I talk about: Why taking supplements every day isn’t a good idea A chiropractor’s take on whether or not vaccinating your children is safe How to get started in intermittent fasting And lots more!

John Durant: The Paleo Manifesto, Being Out of Touch and Orange-Eyed Aliens

This week's show is with John Durant, author of "The Paleo Manifesto: Ancient Wisdom for Lifelong Health," which releases on September 17. John is one of the original "modern cavemen." He's been seen running around barefoot in NYC, and has been featured on The Colbert Report, NPR and in the New York Times. This show is a lot of fun, you don't want to miss it! Lots of exciting things happening lately. I just returned from a wilderness survival trip out in Rocky Mountain National Park. It was a blast, and if there's one thing I recommend you take as an action step this week it's this: leave all your gadgetry at home, disconnect and get outside! We've also started recording a fun new video series with Dave Asprey, from Bulletproofexec.com. We're going to be talking about a lot of fun things on that show. We don't even have a name for it yet, but you can look forward to that! Last but not least, the CavemanFeast app is still kicking butt on the iTunes charts. We were even featured by Apple in the U.S. and Australia, plus a few other countries. So thank you all for the reviews and for downloading it, we seriously appreciate the support! Alright, on the show. Today with John we talk about: How we’re all out of touch. Why aliens have orange eyes. And we even act out tea time with Henry Wadsworth Longfellow...
