This is passed down through lineage -- you get half of it from your mother, and the other half from your father.The way that the report of your genetic test is delivered is through easy-to-understand terms. It’s more about what the action items are.Dietary intervention. What type of diet are you going to best respond to? Are you sensitive to fat and gaining weight? Are you going to respond well to a keto diet or a low-fat diet for weight loss? Sensitivities. Do you have risk factors for celiac disease or non-celiac gluten sensitivity? Nutrients. What is your individual nutritional need? Are you getting enough B vitamins? Do you need to supplement? Are you getting enough choline?Physical fitness and exercise. What types of exercise do you have more predilection towards? Detox pathways.Hormone health.Obesity risks.Mental wellness.The only food sensitivity that we can really look at with a genetic test is gluten sensitivity. It has to do with how the immune system is responding to the food based on whether there’s a risk for celiac disease or whether there’s non-celiac gluten sensitivity.The methylation pathway is found in every single one of cells for the most part, and it’s what’s responsible for healing our DNA, for repairing our cells and making sure that we have something called SAM (S-Adenosyl methionine), which is used for hundreds of biochemical pathways. Action Steps:Get a genetic test and start to understand more about your individual health.Do a follow-up testing to the DUTCH test annually or bi-annually and be mindful of appropriate surveillance as well talking to your healthcare provider for healthy estrogen and hormones.Consider supplementing to help increase your nutrient stores and make sure you’re optimizing to make sure all your cells and biochemical pathways are working properly. Robyn said:“The lifestyle genetics, what we’re using this information for, is to determine what specific lifestyle strategies are going to be best for that individual. Q&A: Healing Post-pill Amenorrhea, Strategies for Acid Reflux & Constipation + Tips to Survive the Holidays and Feel Your Absolute Best

How you can best support yourself over the holidays? The holiday season can be a stressful and sometimes overwhelming time for a lot of people. What’s happening here is that there is a breakdown in communication between the hypothalamus, your pituitary glands, and your ovaries.The pill is one of the biggest causes of amenorrhea. This poses a problem for many of the women who have been on the pill for many years because their ovaries may have become resistant to resuming ovulation.Your hormones need fat to function. Pregnenolone is the mother hormone and it’s synthesized from cholesterol.Acid reflux is typically due to too little acid production, which is so important for digestive health.Stress and fatigue are two of the biggest immune system offenders. Action Steps:Simple strategies to support yourself when you’re having amenorrhea:Start incorporating more protein and fat into your diet.Supplement with B vitamins.Work on healing and supporting your gut.Exercise.Re-balancing tips when you have acid reflux:Avoid trigger foods like coffee, chocolate, alcohol, tomatoes, pepper, spicy foods, and citrus foods. Don’t eat anything 2 to 3 hours before bed.Take apple cider vinegar. Incorporate deglycyrrhizinated licoriceSupport your body over the holidays:Make sure you’re getting in your vitamin D.Supplement with zinc.Take a daily probiotic.If you are prone to getting cold sores, take 1,000 to 2,000 mg of L-lysine.Take immune supportive mushrooms.Have things in moderation.Have a hand sanitizer on hand.Rest more and stress less.Do the movement that you love and that feels good in your body.Make sure you stay hydrated. Samantha said:“If you find that this is the time of year where you do typically get sick… recovery can take longer because you might be eating too much sugar, drinking too much caffeine, maybe overdoing it on the alcohol -- all things that suppress the immune system.”“There’s nothing wrong with going out and enjoying yourself but have things in moderation. Understanding Histamine and Healing from Histamine Intolerance

What do you do when you have histamine intolerance? Board-certified doctor of natural medicine, Dr. Becky Campbell shares insights from her book The 4-Phase Histamine Reset Plan. Its main role is to help you get rid of allergens.One of the enzymes responsible for breaking down histamine is diamine oxidase (DAO). You can test for histamine intolerance by testing for DAO, although it’s not very reliable.The best way to test for histamine intolerance is to eat foods high in histamine. If you get any new symptoms or your current symptoms increase, you most likely have it. The follow-up to that is to remove those foods for a week, and if you start to see a reduction of those symptoms, that’s when you know you have histamine intolerance.The common causes of histamine intolerance:Mast cell activation syndromeGluten intoleranceLeaky gutVitamin deficienciesGut infectionIrritable bowel diseaseGenetic mutationsLeftovers are a very big trigger for people with histamine intolerance because the longer the food cooks and the longer the food sits, the more histamine is being produced and the more bacteria is being produced. Action Steps:Test for histamine intolerance.Cut out high-histamine foods in your diet. Dr. Becky said:“One of the best ways to get rid of histamine intolerance or to really, really manage [it] is to test your gut, see what you’ve got going on in there, and kill those infections.” “High estrogen levels really can drive histamine in the body. However, there are 300+ chemicals in the drinking water that are not regulated.There are 77 million Americans who are drinking water that violated the Safe Water Drinking Act because of excessive levels of regulated chemicals. So just because it’s regulated, it doesn’t mean that they are within safe ranges.Everybody’s water is different. There is no one perfect solution, product, or brand of water filter that we can say everybody should buy.Fifty percent of the chlorine that we absorb in our body comes from the shower.Endocrine disruptors are chemicals or substances that block or mimic the communication of natural hormones in the body.
