Nolan Bushnell - Atari Founder & Mentor to Steve Jobs [Business, mindset, entrepreneur, disruptors]

In today’s podcast Rob is joined by American businessman, electrical engineer and founder of Atari games Nolan Bushnell. Together they discuss how Nolan found success in video games, having Apple founder Steve Jobs as an employee and why ideas are rubbish until you work on them.   KEY TAKEAWAYS Each time sales slow down on your product, bring out a new one. Slowly but surely you will become a real company receiving orders and gaining customers. As long as you can keep ahead of everybody creatively, you can become the power.   The probability of you being a successful gamer in the E sports world is the equivalent to you getting signed up to the New York Yankees. If you make it you can make a lot of money but it is up in the 1% category. Inject practicality into your children wherever possible.   To be in a relationship with an entrepreneur, you have to embrace chaos and unpredictability. Every once in a while you have to push all of your chips out on the table, some of those chips would usually be put away for house payments which is difficult. The risk profile for an entrepreneur is much higher than normal and much higher compared to a wife and a mother.   Everybody has a good idea when they’re in the shower. What determines what you do when you get out of the shower? Can you make that idea your own by working on it? Ideas are basically rubbish, you do not own these ideas until you work on them. The more you work on your ideas, the more you own them.   To be disruptive is to do things that have never been done before in a way that fundamentally changes outcomes forever more. Mathematically there are things called singularities which are things that wipe out the history whilst going forward. True disruption is a singularity.   BEST MOMENTS “I instantaneously knew that if I screened with a coin slot in my arcade it would earn serious money.” “I always thought that video games were going to be massive and disruptive, and I felt that  if we tried really really hard we could get a little piece of it.” “Games have to be easy to learn and hard to master.” “If it’s fun it can make money.”   ABOUT THE GUEST Nolan Bushnell is an American businessman and electrical engineer. He established Atari, Inc. and the Chuck E. Cheese's Pizza Time Theatre chain. Nolan has been inducted into the Video Game Hall of Fame and the Consumer Electronics Association Hall of Fame received the BAFTA Fellowship and the Nations Restaurant News "Innovator of the Year" award, and was named one of Newsweek's "50 Men Who Changed America." Bushnell has started more than twenty companies and is one of the founding fathers of the video gameindustry. He is on the board of Anti-Aging Games. In 2012 he founded an educational software company called Brainrush, that is using video game technology in educational software. Nolan is credited with Bushnell's Law, an aphorism about games "easy to learn and difficult to master" being rewarding.   [Business, mindset, entrepreneur, disruptors] VALUABLE RESOURCES https://robmoore.com/ bit.ly/Robsupporter   https://robmoore.com/podbooks  rob.team ABOUT THE HOST Rob Moore is an author of 9 business books, 5 UK bestsellers, holds 3 world records for public speaking, entrepreneur, property investor, and property educator. 2020 is Dead: Bring THIS Into 2021! [Business, mindset, entrepreneur, disruptors]

DESCRIPTION  For many people, the year 2020 was a write-off. It is now time to leave last year behind, look forward and create an amazing 2021 for you and your business. Join Rob today as he details the ten things you can do that will help accelerate your 2021 success. Discover how to pivot and adapt your business, why moving online will increase your profit margin and how to take your business global.  KEY TAKEAWAYS  2021 could paradoxically be the best business and entrepreneurial year of your life if you want it to be. To maximise success pivot, adapt and react very quickly to the market. Always be ready to pivot your business model, service and product to the ever-changing market.  Go from offline, physical and retail to online. This will enable you to scale from local to national and eventually to a global level. Moving online will allow you to keep your costs and overheads down to stay lean and agile. In doing so your margin will increase significantly.  Build your global audience. Set up assets such as a Facebook page or a Youtube channel which will break you into a global market. Once you have reached a global audience you can market your products and services.  Make sure you have systems for global outreach. These are things such as registration pages, payment gateways or email marketing software. These systems should be translatable globally. American systems are more translatable globally than a local software.  BEST MOMENTS  “It is time to move forward and create an amazing 2021.” “Don’t get ready, be ready.” “The world has changed and everything is moving so much faster.” “You can become a millionaire much quicker.” [Business, mindset, entrepreneur, disruptors] VALUABLE RESOURCES https://robmoore.com/ bit.ly/Robsupporter   https://robmoore.com/podbooks  rob.team ABOUT THE HOST Rob Moore is an author of 9 business books, 5 UK bestsellers, holds 3 world records for public speaking, entrepreneur, property investor, and property educator. COVID (& Lockdown) Survival For Business- Real Opportunities in 2021 [Business, mindset, entrepreneur, disruptors]

WHAT IS CLUBHOUSE? FIND OUT HERE In today’s episode, Rob is joined by entrepreneur, strategist and host of ‘The Pandemic Podcast’ Dan Gregory. Together they discuss the most recent government announcement ‘Lockdown 3.0’ and the way that Covid is changing the way business works. Join them today and learn how you can help your business survive by pivoting, not allowing fear to overcome you and identifying problems and looking for solutions.    KEY TAKEAWAYS There is so much fear amongst people during the pandemic. We need to think about the knock-on unemployment rates which could be huge. We also need to think about all of the companies that will go bust when they cannot afford to pay back the business loans they took. Whilst it was nice for the government to give tax holidays for companies, they still have to be paid back at some point.   If you have ever thought about starting an online business, now is the time. How many more people are going to be online now? An e-commerce or information business will thrive in the current climate.   There is a pandemic of fear which is something new to everyone. Only put information in your head that is factual. The mainstream media sells fear and it is hard to tell what is true and what is false nowadays. Manage the global fear by getting your information from factual sources and unfollow anything that is conjecture.   Address the main problems that you currently have which could be anything from stock to cash flow. Once you have identified your problems, look for solutions. If you haven’t got the solutions in your existing model, create a new model or a new business. Covid won’t be here forever, so don’t make short term decisions.   It is very easy to become disempowered right now but you need to snap out of it. Use these feelings to drive you forward. You have to be the change you want to see and despite everything that is going on right now you have a unique opportunity to create change in the world for the better. There are a lot of things that we may not be individually able to control but we can contribute to change when we come together.   Entrepreneurship is not as scary as it first may seem. Right now there is more opportunity and more money in the world than ever before. If your mind is tuned into fear and panic you will no longer see the opportunity that is right in front of your face.   BEST MOMENTS “Is the way that we are dealing with it proportional to the risk at hand?” “That will bring a new opportunity for property investors.” “We are all experiencing fear on a global level” “I think this is a grand opportunity.” “You could be standing on a mountain of value but you’re just not seeing it because you’re so deeply in fear.”   ABOUT THE GUEST Dan Astin-Gregory is the founder of Elevate MEDIA and host of the Pandemic podcast. Dan is an entrepreneur, strategist and inspirational thought leader who has impacted the lives of more than 500,000 people from over 90 different countries with his work in human potential, leadership and entrepreneurship.   [Business, mindset, entrepreneur, disruptors] VALUABLE RESOURCES https://robmoore.com/ bit.ly/Robsupporter   https://robmoore.com/podbooks  rob.team ABOUT THE HOST Rob Moore is an author of 9 business books, 5 UK bestsellers, holds 3 world records for public speaking, entrepreneur, property investor, and property educator. 9 Disruptive Predictions for 2021 for Entrepreneurs [Business, mindset, entrepreneur, disruptors]

The year 2020 was something no one could have ever predicted and now a ‘new normal’ has been created, Rob shares his predictions for how 2021 will go. Rob discusses how businesses that create a connection amongst their customers are likely to thrive this year, how there will be a resurgence of live events and why the best way to prosper in 2021 is to solve your customers’ new problems, fast.   KEY TAKEAWAYS Creating something meaningful leads to hope, truth and connection. By creating a connection you have created a great business model. What we have lost in Lockdowns is a tactile connection with other human beings. Any business that creates a connection and focuses on creating a community is likely to do well.   There will be a resurgence of live events this year. Lockdowns have created frustration amongst the masses which has increased the desire for people to get out of their homes and do more. Once the doors are re-opened there will be a mass of people wanting to attend live events.   The pandemic has created mass fear, you must inoculate yourself from this. If you allow other people's fear to impact and infiltrate you, you will freeze. The fear should spur you on to find solutions and create viable products and services that leverage these new pains and problems. When you solve them and turn those pains into solutions, you win as an entrepreneur.   You have got an opportunity to scale dramatically on social media in 2021. More people are using social media meaning more engagement and opportunity. As you scale you naturally lose the personal touch, it is vital to try and keep your social media as personal as you can.   Your customers have new problems, you need to find them, and you need to solve them fast. The faster you solve your customers’ new problems, the more you profit in 2021. The longer you take to solve these problems, the more you will struggle.   BEST MOMENTS “Not just because of the convenience element but because humans could connect.” “There could be a mini-boom in live events.” “A black hole seems to pull everything in it, a star seems to shine everything out.” “You change the world, one person, at a time.”   [Business, mindset, entrepreneur, disruptors] VALUABLE RESOURCES https://robmoore.com/ bit.ly/Robsupporter   https://robmoore.com/podbooks  rob.team ABOUT THE HOST Rob Moore is an author of 9 business books, 5 UK bestsellers, holds 3 world records for public speaking, entrepreneur, property investor, and property educator. Emergency Lockdown 4.0! Cashflow Strategies & Managing the MASS FEAR [Business, mindset, entrepreneur, disruptors]

Learn today how you can leverage the opportunities that coincide with the governments most recent announcement of Lockdown 3.0. Join Rob as he describes ten ways in which you as an entrepreneur can make the most of lockdown, including inoculating yourself from mass fear to taking advantage of social medias newest platform Clubhouse discover how to make this lockdown count.   KEY TAKEAWAYS Inoculate yourself from the mass fear that could turn into anger. You cannot turn anywhere without having a conversation about the government, lockdown or pandemic. Whilst it is okay to read the news and get the facts and figures having numerous conversations every day about the pandemic can become draining and could cause you to become unproductive. Change the conversation. When people start talking to you about Covid-19 or lockdown, change the conversation. Talk about the new opportunity that comes with the new lockdown. Give people hope, leadership, vision and belief. Spin the conversation around for other peoples’ benefit as well as your own. Clubhouse is going viral. We all wait for the new social media platforms to go big and we all wish we had got into these platforms early. Clubhouse is great for increasing your followership, your brand and research. People in Clubhouse are talking about what is happening now and therefore it is a great opportunity to find out what the new problems, pains and solutions are. There are new problems in the world right now. The quicker you find them, the quicker you solve them and the more global they are means you will win big. An entrepreneur finds meaningful problems, creates meaningful solutions and scales it to as many people as possible on the planet.   BEST MOMENTS “Energy is everything and right now there is a lot of black hole type of energy.” “Leverage online. There is going to be so many more people online.” “Marketing generates leads, leads create sales and with no sales, you have no business. Without marketing, you have no business.”   [Business, mindset, entrepreneur, disruptors] VALUABLE RESOURCES https://robmoore.com/ bit.ly/Robsupporter   https://robmoore.com/podbooks  rob.team ABOUT THE HOST Rob Moore is an author of 9 business books, 5 UK bestsellers, holds 3 world records for public speaking, entrepreneur, property investor, and property educator. 9 Brutal Lessons From 2020 (for Success in 2021) [Business, mindset, entrepreneur, disruptors]

2020 was a brutal year but as business owners and as entrepreneurs there have been valuable lessons learned that you can take into 2021 to improve your business and scale your brand. Listen in and discover Rob’s 9 key takeaways from adapting your expectation vs reality, learning how to stay agile and scaleable and why it’s essential to always have a plan B.   KEY TAKEAWAYS Expectation vs reality - Entrepreneurs could not have predicted the COVID-19 pandemic but as a result, many did not adjust their business model and expectations for the year. The quicker an entrepreneur can adapt, pivot and change their plans, the easier it is to thrive in tough times.   The unexpected upside of a very difficult year - For every downside, a business may experience, there is an equal upside and as a result of the pandemic, many will have created new products and services, optimised their business and become more agile in their industry. Having no plan B - It’s always important to have a plan B and know what you would do if. Aim to disrupt yourself and your business by finding your weaknesses and opportunity growth areas by covering all of your bases if certain situations happen. Always have a plan B, C, D, E and F.   Dealing with fear on a global scale - Do not let the fear of the pandemic seep into your business so that you end up making irrational decisions. Always be very careful of who you follow and the media that you watch, aim to be balanced, level-headed and deal in facts.   Agility - You need to be able to think, decide and act fast when making business decisions. Always be in testing mode so that you can provide the best product or service and always be ready to move.   Scalable products - Ask yourself if your product is scalable on a global level so that your business is sustainable.   Low overhead models - Keep your overheads and long-term fixed costs low so that you can grow your business by the cashflow that you bring in and stay agile. BEST MOMENTS “The best way to be agile in business is to expect the unexpected and plan for what you cannot plan for” “Also aim to be a ‘glass half full’ type of person” “Ask yourself what if regulations changed? What if your competitors grew? What is the taxation laws change?” “Sit down and make a list covering all of the upsides of the business learned as a result of 2020” “The upsides learned in 2020 can be leveraged and scaled in 2021” “Follow people that inspire you and that can improve your business”   [Business, mindset, entrepreneur, disruptors] VALUABLE RESOURCES https://robmoore.com/ bit.ly/Robsupporter   https://robmoore.com/podbooks  rob.team ABOUT THE HOST Rob Moore is an author of 9 business books, 5 UK bestsellers, holds 3 world records for public speaking, entrepreneur, property investor, and property educator. How to Create a Wildly Compelling Offer/Pitch [Business, mindset, entrepreneur, disruptors]

Do you have a new product or service that’s awaiting its launch? Join Rob and learn how you can create a wildly compelling offer which your customers can’t turn down. Discover the importance of creating a unique product, how your best salesman is your customers’ testimonials and how to create scarcity and urgency for your product. Rob also answers questions on how to successfully set goals, and how to handle criticism.   KEY TAKEAWAYS If you get bored with your products and services, your market will too. The only limitation to this in your industry market is your creativity and innovation. If you see your results diminish you have got to get into a creative mindset and freshen things up.   Your product, service and your launch must be unique and completely different from anything on the market. It must also be unique to anything you have done before. People don’t want to buy the same as everything else. If you have something that nobody else does, then you win the game. If you’re doing something your market and your customers have never seen before then you’re winning the game.   Much to the dismay of good salespeople, you are not your best salesperson. Your best salespeople are your client’s case studies and testimonials. Any skeptical client is going to trust third party reviewers with no ulterior motive. The case studies you acquire must show results gained from using your product and service. You must also use case studies that are relatable to your ideal client.   Sales are energy. You need to get people to have an emotional change to make a decision. We are all in a different emotional space when we have made a decision. Decision making is a movement and is new energy.   If your customers believe they can utilise your offer whenever they like, they are never going to do it now. If there is no competition against other people or punishment for delaying it then they will not purchase your product. Different forms of scarcity could be advised that this is the ‘last one ever’ or ‘price increasing soon.’   When people set a goal, they set a fantasy. Nobody ever prepares for the negative effects that may happen on their journey to reaching their goals. By setting a goal with a one-sided fantasy, you are immediately setting yourself up to fail. Set out what could go wrong as well as what could go right.   Whilst many critics do not have much balance in the way that they converse, they do provide useful feedback that you should listen to. Many people label all critics as haters. By calling your critics’ haters you have turned them against you. You are receiving critique, not hate. Embrace it, you learn more from them than you do from your fans.    BEST MOMENTS “There are two things we need to look at when it comes to your compelling offer. One is the product itself and two is the marketing of the product itself.”   “You cannot guarantee results. You can guarantee transformation.”   “This is a transformation. What you ideally want is a significant transformation, but it has to be believable.”   “People buy property for freedom and choice.”   “You are naive if you think you can have all of the upsides and none of the downsides.”   [Business, mindset, entrepreneur, disruptors] VALUABLE RESOURCES https://robmoore.com/ bit.ly/Robsupporter   https://robmoore.com/podbooks  rob.team ABOUT THE HOST Rob Moore is an author of 9 business books, 5 UK bestsellers, holds 3 world records for public speaking, entrepreneur, property investor, and property educator. What is The Universal Definition of Success? [Business, mindset, entrepreneur, disruptors]

Whilst every person may have their own unique definition of personal success, it is always beneficial to discuss a universal qualifier of what success really is. Join Rob today as he discusses the definition of success. Discover how creating value in areas most important to you can be defined as successful, how transient measures of success can send you on a never-ending quest for success and why for something to be deemed as a success it must be both selfish and selfless. KEY TAKEAWAYS It is wise to discuss a universal qualifier of success so that we can pursue more of the things that are important to us and make the biggest difference. As we go through life our qualifier of success becomes personal. These may be meeting satisfaction, getting results, financial or accolades. The problem with these quantifiers is that they are transient and often many of them are selfish.   For something to be successful, it has to be selfless as well as selfish. Success is nothing to do with your accolades, money or rewards. Success needs to balance the selfish and selfless.  If your definition includes material items such as money, cars or watches, then there is always going to be someone with more of those than you.   Success is you creating value in your unique area. Being valuable in the area that is of greatest importance to you can be defined as being a success. If you compare yourself to someone else’s success, you cannot be a success. That is their life, not yours. That is their values and vision, not yours.   The deeper sense of happiness and fulfilment is directly linked to how many people you help and how much you help them. The great thing about having a global vision is you are always helping more people, therefore you are always able to add to your sense of satisfaction and value.   Entrepreneurs can go through stages where their success is defined by how much money they have, how many material items they own and how large their business is. You will eventually realise that there is no end to that. Therefore that chase can make you feel unworthy or empty. BEST MOMENTS “If your goal for success is happiness, that is selfish.” “Something that is absolutely not the definition of success, is comparing yourself to others.” “The only thing on the planet that you are the best at, is being you.” “Do you go back and hat tip to yourself? Credit yourself for all those things that you have achieved along the journey? If you do, you are okay on that journey of ever-increasing targets.”   [Business, mindset, entrepreneur, disruptors] VALUABLE RESOURCES https://robmoore.com/ bit.ly/Robsupporter   https://robmoore.com/podbooks  rob.team ABOUT THE HOST Rob Moore is an author of 9 business books, 5 UK bestsellers, holds 3 world records for public speaking, entrepreneur, property investor, and property educator. RANT! How To Handle Failure & Rejection Like A Boss [Business, mindset, entrepreneur, disruptors]

Fear and rejection are something we all have to face in life and sometimes it is not easy to accept. In today’s podcast, Rob details how to handle failure and rejection effectively. Discover why facing your fears can allow you to grow as an entrepreneur, the importance of having a balanced outlook on life and how to contextualize your emotions. KEY TAKEAWAYS You have to face rejection, embarrassment and shame. As an entrepreneur you have to face your demons regularly otherwise you are not pushing yourself enough and you are not growing enough. There are certain parts of you where you will recurrently feel fear and rejection as this goes back to your conditioning.   It is easy to beat yourselves up about the things that are going wrong instead of the things that are going well. It is also common to have a downside view of things rather than a balanced or upside view.   You would not want to get rid of fear. Fear is your internal warning system and a reaction to your environment to stay safe. Fear is real and you need it. We need emotions, it is more about feeling and contextualising the emotions and reacting accordingly.   Contextualise what is real and what is imagined. Contextualise what is a ‘first world fear’ and what is real and threatening to you. Failure and mistakes keep you humble. Therefore it all serves a purpose if none of these emotions existed then we would all become complacent and arrogant.   Nobody is a failure. Everybody is perfect at being themselves. You can fail at things or be rejected on occasion but that does not make you a failure or a reject. Usually, people aren’t rejecting you; they are rejecting whatever you are offering, selling or promoting. It is not personal, if you do feel rejection it is probably more about your past rejection than your present or future rejection.   BEST MOMENTS “You can grow through it and learn from it.” “All emotions are necessary.” “Why can’t we disagree more and still not judge the person?”   [Business, mindset, entrepreneur, disruptors] VALUABLE RESOURCES https://robmoore.com/ bit.ly/Robsupporter   https://robmoore.com/podbooks  rob.team ABOUT THE HOST Rob Moore is an author of 9 business books, 5 UK bestsellers, holds 3 world records for public speaking, entrepreneur, property investor, and property educator.
