127. Ella Halikas on Building Delusional Confidence, Overcoming Fear of Failure & Dating Insecurities

Welcome Greek Goddess, curve model, and content creator Ella Halikas to the show! Ella shares our mission to help other women feel confident in their skin, and turned her biggest dream into a reality by becoming a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Model in 2021. We admire Ella’s confidence and her ability to go after her goals with determination and grace. She reminds us that we get to our big goals by focusing on our passion, and striving to be our best self every day.  Today she is sharing her best advice for setting boundaries with family members when it comes to conversations about weight, building “delusional” confidence, overcoming fear of failure, setting goals while avoiding burnout, and how rejection breeds resilience. We discuss dating as curvy women, and the self-worth struggles we are working through. We also talk about what it’s really like working as a full-time curve model, and the exciting project she will be releasing soon. We are grateful to Ella for sharing her wisdom and experience, and know you’re going to love this conversation!   “I think that having confidence really means wanting to be better than who you were yesterday. I'm always striving to be the best version of myself in all different facets.” - Ella Halikas   We also talk about: Ella’s experience being raised in a Greek household Setting boundaries with family members How to determine what your goals are Learning from failure How Ella handles rejection in the modeling industry Why Ella struggles with dating confidence What Ella tells herself on her low confidence days How to navigate gaining weight and nothing fitting you anymore Ella’s Biggest ick when it comes to dating Avoiding goal burnout   “We grow and we learn so much from our failures. I learn the most about myself, about what I can achieve, how I can handle situations, when I fail, when I lose, when I get rejected, when I get told no, when I get dropped from agencies, when I don't get the job anymore. Don't let that stop you because literally on the other side of failure is the win.” - Ella Halikas   New podcast episodes of Confident Collective drop every Tuesday.   Thank you to our sponsors: Zocdoc: Go to zocdoc.com/CONFIDENT and download the Zocdoc app for FREE. 126. Exposing Our Toxic Traits

Constantly losing things? Unfortunately. Always thinking someone is either mad at or obsessed with us? Most likely. Thinking that money is no object at the airport? Guilty. In this episode, we’re exposing all of our toxic traits and share some top offenders submitted by listeners. In summary, we're all toxic AF, but to be honest, we have no desire to change our toxic traits. It's fun to laugh at ourselves, so let’s accept them and keep doing what we're doing, okay? Plus, Kristina shares some exciting family news and updates us on if she is planning on moving to the east coast. Raeann gives Kristina reasons why moving to NYC could have a positive impact on her career, shares an update about how she’s thriving in the city, and we talk about our current obscure Tik Tok holes.    “Another really bad toxic trade of mine is how often I lose things.” - Kristina “My top toxic trait is thinking everyone’s in love with me.” - Raeann   We also talk about: Kristina’s exciting family update! Why Raeann’s thriving in NYC How rude it is that our partners can’t read our minds Zillow-ing our friend’s homes Returns are the worst People whose phone is constantly dead or dying Always needing a treat when we leave the house Bad Bunny and Kendall Jenner How long it takes us to get ready   Kristina: “This is someone's toxic trait in his mind as well: My phone is always about to die.” Raeann: “That is a toxic trait about people that really annoys me. How was your phone always dying? Do you not have a charger? This is 2023.”    New podcast episodes of Confident Collective drop every Tuesday.   Thank you to our sponsors: Boll and branch: Get 15% off your first set of sheets when you use promo code TCC at bollandbranch.com. 125. Sober Curious? Olivia Noceda’s Advice for Navigating Relationships & an Alcohol-Free Lifestyle

We’re sure you already know and love today’s guest, Olivia Noceda! Olivia has had an alcohol-free lifestyle for the past 15 months, so we invited her on the podcast to share her experience and to explore the concept of sober curiosity. Olivia shares her personal journey with sober curiosity and why she decided to cut out alcohol. We discuss the similarities between the sober curious movement and diet culture, and the red flags to be aware of. We also talk about the correlation between alcohol and hookup culture, and how to navigate dating while sober curious.  Raeann and Kristina both open up about their own relationships with alcohol and share real-time reflections about why they drink. As Raeann has recently experienced, living in a drinking culture like NYC can be challenging for those who are exploring an alcohol-free lifestyle, so Olivia shares some great tips for going out and feeling more comfortable not drinking. We also delve into the potential effects on friendships and relationships and provide advice for those who want to stop drinking but are worried about the impact it could have on their social life. Join us for this enlightening, honest conversation as we explore the growing shift towards sober curiosity and the importance of asking ourselves how alcohol does or doesn’t serve us in this phase of life. Regardless of what you choose, remember to always do what’s best for you, and that trusting yourself is loving yourself. P.S. Don’t forget to head to Olivia’s website and Instagram to try out some of her delicious mocktail recipes!   “The questions I started asking myself were; how does alcohol serve me? What is it to me in my life and what is my relationship with it? With no judgment, I'm not judging myself, I just want to know what it is. And very simply, I had nothing good to say about it. I just started to realize that there was nothing really positive that it was bringing into my life.” - Olivia Noceda   What We Talk About: What does “sober curious” mean? Why Olivia explored sober curiosity to begin with Similarities between sober curiosity and diet culture Questions to ask yourself if you’re starting to become sober curious Tips for living in a drinking culture like NYC while sober curious Navigating dating while sober curious Kristina’s reflections on her relationship with alcohol Why Raeann feels influenced to drink more than she’d like to How cultural influences play a role in our relationship with alcohol Signs alcohol may be a problem for you Why there’s a culture shift towards sober curiosity right now Advice for people who want to stop drinking alcohol but are worried about how it will affect friendships and relationships The correlation between alcohol and hookup culture Tips for going out and feeling more comfortable not drinking   “I feel there's obviously a lot of judgment for people who don't drink, but I also feel like there's a lot of people who don't drink who judge those that do. We all need to have a little bit more fair play and more respect for everyone's life choices, no matter what they are.” - Kristina Zias   “When you are following what you desire and what you are interested in and bettering your life, you're basically weeding out people who aren't aligned with your values and your mission. And that's just going to be better for you in the long run. So in the short term, it can be scary, but I think you have to look ahead to the long, long term goal. - Raeann Langas   New podcast episodes of Confident Collective drop every Tuesday.   Thank you to our sponsors: Visit nutrisense.io/confident and use code CONFIDENT to save $30 and get 1 month of free dietitian support. 124. Shit Men Say

The audacity! We’re laughing but it’s actually ridiculous, the shit men say. And honestly, no one gets more random, crazy shit said to them than us. We’re sharing personal stories about the most insane things men have said to us; from commenting on our size, to the way we walk, to how our eyes look. Then, we share some of the most unhinged things our TCC listeners have heard from men. We can’t imagine what’s going through their minds to make these comments, but they sure as hell have made for funny stories. Whether they don’t know how ridiculous they sound or simply don’t care, let’s take this opportunity to collectively call them out on their BS.   “I think one of the most ridiculous things that someone said to me was when I was walking into Gelson's, which is a grocery store in LA, the security guard goes, ‘Damn girl, you walking like you’re about to fuck somebody up.’ And I was like, excuse me?” - Kristina   What We Talk About: How Raeann’s move-in process is going What life’s like for Kristina now as a mom of 2 Confessions of a breastfeeding mama What’s really impeding on Raeann’s vibe in NYC Kristina’s hair dilemma Crazy shit men have said to us Crazy shit men have said to YOU   “The amount of times I've been stopped on the street by random men, just so they can call me big, I can't even keep track.” - Raeann   New podcast episodes of Confident Collective drop every Tuesday.   Thank you to our sponsors: Zocdoc: Go to zocdoc.com/CONFIDENT and download the Zocdoc app for FREE. We know so many of you follow and admire her, and hope you enjoy getting to know her on another level.   “ When people say, ‘Mikayla, you're my favorite body positivity influencer,’ I don't think that's fair to say because I do struggle with an eating disorder and because I don't believe I'm the most body positive. 122. Kristina's Birth Story

Baby boy number 2 has arrived! It’s so wild what an adventure pregnancy and labor and delivery are. There’s so many highs and lows and ALL THE EMOTIONS but with the absolute best reward ever in the end. In this episode, Kristina is sharing her entire birth story; which was much different (and harder) than her first experience, and to be honest, pretty stressful and traumatic. Although both mom and baby are recovering and doing well, Kristina openly and transparently walks through the details of her labor and delivery, giving her advice and learnings along the way. She shares how she and her husband Steve introduced baby Christian to Nikolas, his initial reaction to his baby brother, and how it’s going now. Motherhood is so hard and so fulfilling at the same time. Balancing a newborn and a toddler is a whole new ballgame but Kristina feels so confident and at peace knowing that she’s got this. “On the way to the hospital, honestly, we had so much fun. I was in so much pain and we just started blasting music and acting like we were going to the club. We were singing at the top of our lungs and it felt like we were just about to embark on this crazy adventure, which we were. But instead of going to the club, we're going to the hospital.” - Kristina Zias “All I knew was: the baby's gonna come tonight, so there's no point in me trying to get some sleep. So I was like, I'm gonna do my makeup and hair because if we're gonna have a baby tonight, I might as well at least try and look cute, and at least that will distract me from the pain. This is how I choose to give birth, how I choose to distract myself. And it was an amazing distraction, honestly. - Kristina Zias What We Talk About: How Kristina’s feeling as a mom of 2 Processing a traumatic birth with self compassion Was the psychic medium Steve saw (from episode 89) right about the baby’s gender? Preparing for birth when you have a big baby and what Kristina did to get him to come naturally The timeline of the night she went into labor How she distracted herself from the pain Her expectations versus the reality of her second birth The biggest differences in her experience with Nikolas and her second delivery What she suggests talking to your doctor about before delivery  Her stressful pushing process The scary post delivery realization the doctor had What Kristina’s recovery process was like and what she did to feel more like herself  How they introduced Nikolas to the baby and his initial reaction How everyone’s doing now   “Not to sound so woowoo, but that energy really makes a big difference. I know if I were to have another one or if you're having a baby, I think it's important to communicate the type of energy you need from your doctor because that is something I never would've thought of.”  - Kristina Zias “ Around 11:26 AM my little boy Christian James DeAngelo, who was born: nine pounds, five ounces with a knotted umbilical cord. My little miracle baby is just like the sweetest little thing, and I feel like I'm just meant to be a mom. I feel so confident in that, and it feels really great. Obviously it's super, super hard and challenging and there have been tears along the way but I feel like you realize how strong you are and how resilient you are, and just having a growing family is such a blessing.” - Kristina Zias New podcast episodes of Confident Collective drop every Tuesday.   Thanks to our sponsors: BetterHelp: Learn more and save 10% off your first month at BetterHelp.com/confidentcollective or use code "confidentcollective" at checkout. 121. If you’re feeling lost, this is for you

Reflecting on different phases of your life gives you an opportunity to appreciate the moments that have made you who you are, and shows you that you’re capable of so much more than you give yourself credit for. When Raeann moved to Los Angeles five years ago, her life looked a lot different. As she prepares to close this chapter and move to NYC, our good friend Rosie joins Raeann on the podcast to help her recognize and celebrate her evolution and ask hard questions that dive deep into the pivotal moments that have led Raeann to who she is today. We talk about the failures that were just redirections to something better, how to move forward after a big breakup, how solitude is the best way to truly get to know yourself, betting on yourself and going after your dreams even when people around you don’t understand it and so much more. If you’re feeling lost, or don’t know what’s next for you, we hope this episode inspires you to get to know yourself on a deeper level and really go after what you want in life.   “You cannot get to know yourself or experience growth outside of solitude.” - Raeann Langas     “There is such a freedom in getting it wrong and let that refine us and try again.” - Rosie   What we talk about: Raeann’s NYC move and apartment update Who was Raeann when she first moved to LA? That time Raeann almost got married The many jobs Raeann had when she first moved to California How to redirect your focus when you realize something isn’t working Being more mindful of celebrating our wins as women How solitude is essential to getting to know yourself Letting go of control and surrendering to what’s meant to be Why you shouldn’t put literally everything into a relationship Raeann’s hopes, dreams and goals for this next phase of life in New York   “If you try something and it doesn’t work out it’s not a failure because you’ve learned something from it.” - Raeann Langas   “Let’s always leave room for what’s bigger than we can imagine.” - Rosie   New podcast episodes of Confident Collective drop every Tuesday.   Thank you to our sponsors: Lelo: Celebrate love this Valentine's Day, reconnect with yourself or your significant other and seize great discounts LELO offers for their 20th birthday on lelo.com/valentines-day Nutrisense: Visit https://www.nutrisense.io/ and use code CONFIDENT to save $30 and get 1 month of free dietitian support.
