S01 E90 - #11 Star Wars
"This week Poppy quickly proves she's the Jedi master. We get to the bottom of the real question: Why is Luke so whiny?Poppy questions why she isn't on a podcast designed for her, Rob is forced into an impromptu pop quiz that could destroy his credibility forever, and we try to figure out once and for all....are the Sand People secretly planning something?Plus, we've got some hilarious three-star reviews, a completely random tangent about the film Backdraft, and a debate over the top film in the original trilogy. At number 11, join us for Star Wars: A New Hope"Quote:"Whos the more foolish, the fool or the fool who follows him?"IMDB: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0076759/@longplayvideolongplay.video

S01 - Bonus Episode
It's bonus episode time! In a truly wild start, Andy kicks things off by telling us exactly why he doesn't like this film. 😲 Can this film even make it into the top 100? As we talk through all the twists and turns, we introduce some major spoilers for our season 2 rankings and see if Edgar Wright can complete the trio to claim Kev's top 3 spot. We make the obvious comparisons between this, Happy Gilmore 2, Wes Anderson, and Chef (don't ask). So what can this film be? Well, as we discuss, it's obviously a remake of Point Break. Join us for the bonus everyone was asking for Baby Driver 🎬

S01 E89 - #12 The Big Sleep
This week in the shop, we go digging through the dust — all the way back to 1946. The war was over, the drinks were stiff, and the men had faces like crumpled maps. We're talking about a film, where the plot’s a maze, the dames are dangerous, and nobody says what they mean unless it’s with a gun.We ask the real questions: Did people really age that badly, or did everyone just look like they'd already buried a few secrets? Did we give noir the cold shoulder too fast… or was it just that one Robert Downey Jr. mess that soured the bottle?Natalie’s back — sharper than a stiletto in a silk stocking — drawing a straight line from this flick to The Empire Strikes Back. Same writer, same trouble. Her whole family showed up to the shop this week, turning movie night into a full-blown reunion with shadows on the wall.Kev confesses he's never seen a film from the '40s. Never knew black-and-white could bleed so much. Andy’s got his own skeleton to drag out: this one used to be number one on the list. Now it's parked at twelve, but maybe that's just the way things shake out in a town full of bad luck and worse lighting. At number 12, The Big Sleep. It's not just the title. It's a warning.

S01 E88 - #13 The Matrix
This week in the shop we question if we’re really in a shop and if we aren’t, why’s the internet so bad? We travel back to 1999 or is it 2199, either way there’s a lot to say! We wonder if it’s time for this film to be reconsidered as more of a classic than it is and discuss how sequels can impact the memories of the original film, even when no one has memories of the sequels. Kev has no hesitation saying he wants to live in the Matrix up until he hears it might be a bit like living in Instagram…Andy just wants BT to send a man, to fix his f*****g broadband. At #13 on the list, we watch The Matrix!Quote: "Stop trying to hit me....and hit me"IMDB: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0133093/@longplayvideolongplay.video

S01 E87 - #14 Chef
This year we go back to 2014, the glory times of social media when it was just used for friendly arguments and going viral was a plot of a film rather than a horrifying reality for anyone, anywhere. Andy and Kev go head to head on their favourite performance by the lead actor, possibly thinking one is a prequel to the other. Carla joins us at the shop for one of her favourite films and Kev talks us through how watching 50% of a different film is the same as having watched this film. Robert Downy Jr is awesome but it has little to do with this film. Andy sets up a feud for season 2, things breakdown (possibly because Kev is Hangry) and opinions vary on number 14 on the list, Chef.Quote: "It's a blank canvas for your dreams"IMDB: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2883512/@longplayvideolongplay.video

S01 E86 - #15 The Goonies
Today we explore a true 80s classics as we head out on our bikes to explore the woods and try and find treasure. Andy talks about his gang past and recounts still trying to find the same adventure he did when he was 1985 Andy, with mixed results. Kev wonders what the verb for not taking notes whilst watching a movie for a podcast might be called and compare water slide scenes with past watches on the list as we watch number 15 on the list, The Goonies.Quote: "Hey yooooooooooou guys"IMDB: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0089218/@longplayvideolongplay.video

S01 E85 - #16 The Illusionist
It's a magician film...or is it 🪄 We delve back in time to "1994 Magic Circle Andy," with his love of Columbo magic films. We discuss who is Serious Sam Rockwell. We sell-in A Paul Giamatti podcast, we wonder why magicians are so focused on revenge. We cover the new genre of magic-romance movies, there is epic facial hair on display. And then we end in style with a healthy discussion about the algo. ("it's nice, in a non-bad way"). Join us for a movie about the son of a butcher, and the son of a cabinet maker at #85 The Illusionist.Quote: "I'm going to ask you a question that doesnt seem friendly. S01 E84 - #17 Pump Up The Volume
This week we show our age by going deep into the 90s with a film that’s a mere 35 years old! We talk about how different the 90s were to the 80s and how cool or uncool we were at the time (everyone will definitely guess which one we were but no spoilers!) We ask if Christian Slater had the career he should have had and the power of glasses to transform any character. Did this film invent Podcasts? Who knows but it’s definitely ahead of it’s time as we watch #17 on the List Pump up the Volume.Quote: "talk hard"IMDB: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0100436/@longplayvideolongplay.video

S01 E83 - #18 Lord Of The Rings: The Return Of The King
This week we cover an epic 4hr finale to the trilogy…will Freddie and Woody survive...will we all survive Andy's recounting of the entire film in detail, only Andy knows and that worries us all. Woody mistakenly has high expectations of a film on Andy's list, we bring back some old categories for a bit of nostalgia. AND have we finally broken Andy, when he mentions the film didn't need romance!! 😱😱 Join us this week for #18 LOTR: Return Of The KingQuote: "Go now and die, in what seems best to you"IMDB: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0167260/@longplayvideolongplay.video

S01 E82 - #19 Good Morning Vietnam
This week we start off strong with Kev doing impressions of famous actors saying the immortal line from this film. We discuss what we know about the Vietnam war that we see in movies and how that’s different generation by generation as we welcome back a younger guest (maybe for the last time because of all the shots fired) to watch the final Robin Williams film on the list. We ponder whatever happened to the 60s and why they’re not important anymore as we watch #19 on the list, Goooooooood morning Vietnam!Quote: "It's "0" "600", what does the O stand for...oh my god it's early"IMDB: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0093105/@longplayvideolongplay.video
