This week on Beyond Clean we speak with Nancy Chobin, President and CEO of Sterile Processing University, LLC for Part 2 of our interview highlighting CBSPD Certification.  Nancy is Retired from her position as the Vice President of Sterile Processing Services at Barnabas Health in West Orange, New Jersey where she was employed from 1990 to July 2015.  She served as a liaison for Joint Commission, Centers for Medicare/Medicaid and the New Jersey State Department of Health surveys.  She also worked as an Independent Nurse Consultant providing services related to the design of SPD Departments, policies and procedures, compliance with regulatory standards, on-site training, and preparation for certification to over 260 hospitals, medical device manufacturers, legal firms and healthcare systems and surgery centers in the US.  Nancy is a renowned International and national speaker and is the founder and past Executive Director of the Certification Board for Sterile Processing & Distribution, Inc.   Finally, she has received many awards in the field of sterile processing and was recently recognized as the 2018 recipient of the AAMI Standards Developer Award. Harry Mullen: Straight Talk on Sterile Processing Training Programs

This week on Beyond Clean we speak with Harry Mullen, Manager of Sterile Processing at Riverside University Health System and Director of Operations for Central Sterilization Solutions.  He has over 33 years in the medical and sterile processing field.  In 2011, He started Central Sterilization Solutions (CSS) along with his partner James Hoxie to teach the CRCST course for technicians desiring a true career in SPD.  They have experienced an increase in the average pass rate going from a 65% average to 95% on the technicians first attempt.  CSS has also contracted with SPD departments to help hospitals with issues identified by the joint commission and other accreditation organizations, correct the deficiencies, and obtain clearance upon re-inspection.  CSS is in the process of creating course curriculums for the CIS, CHL and CER certifications. Jonathan Wilder: Fundamentals of Steam Quality (Part 2)

This week on Beyond Clean we continue our discussion with Jonathan Wilder, President at Stericert Co. and Managing Director, Quality Processing Resource Group, LLC.  Dr. Wilder has worked with all thermal and chemical sterilization methods, as well as cleaning and disinfection methodologies, bringing his background in physical chemistry and surface physics to bear upon difficult problems in the field. He has been published in academic and trade journals. He holds an MBA in Technology Management. He has been an active participant in AAMI sterilization standards committees since 1998 and, as of January 2018, is the co-chair of the US standards-making committee for hospital steam sterilizers.
