EP 130: Are You on an Emotional Rollercoaster With Constant Mood Swings? 5 Stages You Must Go through to Cope With the Loss of Self

Happy April Fools Day! I'll be honest, I'm not the best with jokes, but there was a time where I felt like I was on an emotional rollercoaster kidding my own self that freedom from my eating disorder actually existed. My mood swings were off the charts. When I felt controlled by my disorder I would lash out at the people I loved & when I felt I had control over my eating I would feel a false sense of satisfaction & happiness. It was a whirlwind. ~ Here is the TRUTH for you today sister, in order to find freedom you MUST move from the valley of denial to the hilltops of acceptance. The journey will feel like a rollercoaster at times....this is normal. If you have struggled for years, just know that you have masked your emotions for far too long & it can feel really hard to acknowledge that in order to step forward you must first pull back the layers & understand that YOU ARE NOT your unhealthy behaviors. You are not the eating disorder. You will go through phases of grief & loss...maybe even depression. I sure did. But the important thing to recognize, is that this process will NEED to happen, it's just part of healing...& at times it sucks! You see, grief gets a bad name, this is because you have to feel feelings of loss that once brought you comfort. But with grief is also the opportunity to create something brand NEW. I'm so excited for you to do just that! ~ It's time you tell that voice inside of your head to sit down & shut up! As you step into your very best self, she isn't coming. She doesn't have a reservation at your table. One thing I know for sure: My scars may not be physical, but they tell a story from my past. They now remind me of when life tried to take me out....but didn't. They remind me that I am stronger than I think. & you are too! xo, lindsey Find All the Things -> wwww.herbestself.co ______ Coach with Me ->Client Application ______ Email me directly -> info@lindseynichol.com ______ Join the free FB community -> www.herbestselfsociety.com ______ Need a helping hand guiding you girl!? EP 129: The Truth About Slip-Ups & Set-Backs in Recovery & What to Do When You Feel Like Giving Up

It's that time of the week girl! I'm jumping in to your inbox today to check-in on you my sweet friend. How are you? No, how are you really?! ~ If you struggle with disordered eating, slip-ups & set-backs happen....well as sucky as they are (making you want to throw in the towel), it's time to start expecting them. Prepare for the slip-ups! Change is hard. Growth is hard. Slip-ups & set-backs are just proof you are doing hard things. NOT proof that you are failing at the things. In my recovery journey I wanted so badly to DO recovery "right". On days where I fell back to old patterns & behaviors, I felt like it was just "too hard". I felt like I was just never going to get to freedom. That maybe it just wasn't in the cards for me. Reality is....THAT way of thinking is a LIE. A false narrative. STOP believing it! That lie is a trap your mind wants you to believe to keep you chained to the disorder. Discouragement + Doubt = Quitting You aren't a quitter! You aren't a giver-upper either! So when slip-ups & set-backs come your way....use them as a SET-UP as you step into the BEST version of yourself. You totes got this! & I got you sister. hugs, lindsey Find All the Things -> wwww.herbestself.co ______ Coach with Me ->Client Application ______ Email me directly -> info@lindseynichol.com ______ Join the free FB community -> www.herbestselfsociety.com ______ Need a helping hand guiding you girl!? Happy Thursday friend, How's it going so far? As I sit here typing this I am listening to the glorious sound of birds chirping right outside of my office window. HELLO SPRING! I don't know about you, but this girl can't deal with the cold! I am so very ready for warmer weather & to see all the spring flowers GROW.  Which brings me to Episode 127 of the Her Best Self podcast. This one is all about growing & evolving + how you are your BEST investment! ~ Did you know that 1 out of every 10 people who struggle with disordered eating ever reach out for support? 1 out of 10 :( Yep, the stats are dreadful. On the show today, I talk about how you can beat that statistic RIGHT NOW! I share the positives of investing in you & leveling up into your next level of you! Sis, put yourself out there. Ask for support! ~ Putting power behind your commitment to your best future self is how you achieve your wildest dreams. Reaching out for support when you are sitting in stuckness is the absolute BEST thing you can do to find joy & happiness in your life. ~ Ask yourself, "Am I okay with being here forever? Am I around people who are going to lift me up & inspire me to get where I want to be? Are decisions I am making today moving me forward into where I want to go tomorrow? Am I holding myself accountable? Do I need someone to help me do that?" It is so very important to put yourself in an environment that is going to help you heal your life. How can you put yourself first today? One thing. INVEST in you! ~ Finding freedom from the chains of disordered eating is REAL. But don't try to do it alone. Not that you can't....it just takes SO MUCH LONGER! Coaching can help provide accountability you need to get you to level up. You deserve to learn, grow & evolve! EP 126: Try This 4 Step Strategy to Face the Fear of Gaining Weight, so That You Can Make the Decision to Heal Your Life

Hey girl, How was your St. Patty's Day? We spent time looking for 4 leaf clovers, eating green donuts & cheering on our favorite little leprechaun at his first baseball tournament of the season. Yep, it was a pretty busy weekend for the Nichol crew. However, the one thing that I'm most proud of is honoring my body in the midst of all the fun events WITHOUT the fear of gaining weight. You see, gaining weight use to be my biggest fear. I mean, flying in a plane was also scary. & snakes, well I'm terrified of those as well. But, nothing was as frigtening to me than gaining weight. & even when I knew I needed to gain weight for my health...it was the ONE thing I just couldn't seem to get past. ~ Maybe you have this same fear. Maybe you live in the same thought cycle that I experienced, where every single food choice you make on the daily is centered around whether or not if will make you gain weight. This thinking is all wrong. This thinking is keeping you stuck. But you can decide to change your mind at any given moment. ~ Reality is, being small doesn't make you better. Being small doesn't make you more worthy. Being small doesn't mean you will have a more prosperous life. ...it's actually the exact opposite. Your life doesn't grow when your body shrinks...you just learn to tolerate the misery of running on fumes...until one day you just can't. You see sis, your life grows when you choose to not be measured by unhealthy standards of this world. Your life grows when you decide to honor your body, face your fear & show up for yourself in your authentic truth.  The biggest lie that I believed was that a smaller me was a better me.  Don't you dare believe that lie friend! A smaller you is definitely a different you....but it won't make you any better.  ~ The BEST version of you is the version that lives unrestricted.  The BEST version of you is the version that lives without controlling your weight. ~ You deserve a life, FREE from the controlling chains & fears of gaining weight. I hope Episode 126 speaks to your heart today & that you take some time to do this 4 step strategy, so that you can completely heal your life & decide to make a change. EP 125: Girl, You Aren’t Lazy! The 4 Letter Word You Need Right Now if You Battle the Lie That “You Need to DO More to BE More”

Hey there! Spring has almost sprung! I do feel however that my flowers are confused with all the changing temps here in Virginia. Changing seasons can be just what you need sometimes, but they can also mean hustle & "doing more"....oh how my boy mom heart feels this one (enter -> travel baseball has now taken back over our weekends!) If you have been finding it hard to rest these days, I so feel you! Does the thought of giving yourself a break seem hard right now? Do you guilt yourself or feel "lazy" if you allow yourself to just "be"? ~ For years, I believed if I relaxed, slowed down, took or break or didn't exercise every single day, then that meant I was lazy. My eating disorder wanted me constantly going, doing, accomplishing and controlling. I glamourized the fact that if I was in constant motion then I was always burning calories. So much so, I would do random crunches at all hours of the day & even eat standing up. I became so obsessed in the disorder, that I had convinced myself I was wrong. I was bad. I was a slacker.  Not only did this lead to exhaustion & total collapse of my body, but I lost joy.  I lost me. ~ In Episode 125 of the HBS podcast, I share the 4 letter word you need right now if you battle the lie that "you have to DO more to BE more".  Grab your favorite notebook & pen & listen in! Oh...& share it with a girlfriend too! ~ "Come to me, all you who feel weary & heavy burdened & I will give you REST." EP 123: 4 Ways to Heal From People Pleasing & How to Stop Giving Power to What Other People Think

It's Thursday sis, we are almost there! The weekend is right around the corner. But before we get there I wanted to drop a note into your inbox today & spread light & love with you, reminding you that you are worthy of all your wildest dreams & desires! & also reminding you that it's okay to put YOU first, especially in recovery from disordered eating. In Episode 123 of the Her Best Self Pod, I share all about people pleasing. People pleasing is very common with those in recovery from disordered eating. The two can go hand in hand as ways to cope when life feels uncertain. Eating disorders keep you isolated, while people pleasing allows you to keep the peace, both in ways to keep you feeling safe and secure. Just like in recovery from ED, it's important if you identify with being a people pleaser that you also grant yourself compassion and grace as you move through the healing journey. The good news is that people pleasing is NOT a personality trait, it's a learned response.....which means it can also be unlearned! So if you find that you are constantly putting others' needs in front of your own, then today's episode is worth a listen. I talk with you about 4 ways to heal from caring what other people think, especially as you navigate freedom from disordered eating. Join me on the podcast sis, you will want to tune in to this one! xo, lindsey Find All the Things -> wwww.herbestself.co ______ Coach with Me ->Client Application ______ Email me directly -> info@lindseynichol.com ______ Join the free FB community -> www.herbestselfsociety.com ______ Need a helping hand guiding you girl!?
