In John 5 there was a “great multitude” of sick, lame, and paralyzed people lying around a pool in Jerusalem hoping for a miracle.  One man was there who was an invalid for 38 years.  Jesus was directed by the Father to heal that one man among the many who were sick.  Why did He only heal that one person?  And what must have all the others thought when they were stepped over for their miracle?  Pastor Gary shares two perspectives on this story—one from the angle of what ministry is supposed to really look like, and one from the human angle of what it must have felt like to be stepped over for a miracle.

In John 4, Jesus has a divine appointment with a woman at a well that will be life-changing for her.  She had been on a search for love—married five time and living with a sixth man who was not her husband.  As only Jesus can do, he tenderly performs heart surgery on her by exposing the great longing of her heart—a longing that can only be filled by Jesus.  She represents all of us who have gone from one relationship to another, one drink to another, one drug to another, one sexual encounter to another trying to fill that hole in our soul.  Today’s teaching by Pastor Gary is a message that will help us to see how only Jesus can really complete us and make us whole!

There is a difference between PHYSICAL birth and SPIRITUAL birth. Physical birth was the will and decision of others, but spiritual birth is your choice. There was a Jewish man named Nicodemus who didn’t understand spiritual birth. Like so many people today, people are confused and curious about Jesus. The conversation between Jesus and Nicodemus in John 3 helps us to understand what it means to be “born again.” Have you been born again?

The first miracle that Jesus performed during His earthly ministry was the changing of water into wine at the wedding feast in Cana.  No one was healed, no one was raised from the dead, and no one was fed by a few loaves and fish.  This miracle was purely for the enjoyment of the wedding guests.  Like a parent who loves to bless his children, God loves to bless us not based on our performance but based on His goodness.  The wine that Jesus miraculously produced at the end of the wedding banquet was the best wine of the banquet—a reminder to us that God has saved the best for last!
