Did you ever try running away from home as a kid hoping your parents would beg you to come back home? In Revelation 2, Jesus calls the Ephesian church to “Come back home!” Why? What were they doing wrong? Jesus commends them for all the things they’re doing well, but He says there is one thing they lack–love. It’s possible to do a lot of things for God but not be in love with God. In today’s message, Pastor Austin challenges us to avoid cold, mechanical religion and to fall more in love with Jesus.

In Romans 8, Paul opens and closes the chapter with two important exhortations: (1) There is no condemnation and (2) There is no separation from the love of God for those who are in Christ Jesus. Too many Christians still walk around under the heavy weight of condemnation, shame, and guilt. In addition, some Christians believe the lie that God doesn't really love them. In Luke 19, Jesus sent two of His disciples to retrieve the young donkey on which He would ride for His triumphal entry into Jerusalem preceding His crucifixion. When the owners inquired as to why the disciples were taking their donkey, the disciples were to respond, "Because the Lord has need of it." The owners immediately and graciously complied. In this special Palm Sunday message from guest speaker Dr. Mark Rutland, we learn that we too can give and receive spontaneous grace, "because the Lord has need of it."
