Katee Watched Oculus for the First Time in Over a Decade

Hi everyone, this week we have a Halloween surprise for you! My producer Jeph and I are rewatching Mike Flanagan's 2013 horror film Oculus, which I starred in. Grab some popcorn and candy and get ready for some southern gothic scares. I haven't seen this movie in over a decade, so it was a lot of fun to sit down and try to remember what happened. Jeph had never seen it, so he was coming in blind! For this audio companion, Jeph and I introduce the movie and talk through some behind the scenes stories about the rest of the cast, which included Karen Gillan, Brenton Thwaites, Kate Siegel and Rory Cochrane. We also get into the stunts and effects, how the film found success at the box office and how to act possessed in a dress! If you want to watch the film with us, head over to https://patreon.com/thesackhoffshow or check out our YouTube for highlights! Robert Englund on Becoming the Stuff of Nightmares

Happy Spooky Season, Everyone! As many of you know, scary movies freak me out. But that doesn't mean I don't love today's guest! Today I'm talking to a horror icon— Freddy himself, Robert Englund! Robert is beloved for his performance as Freddy Krueger in A Nightmare on Elm Street and its many sequels. He has also had an illustrious career outside of Wes Craven's franchise, appearing in hundreds of films and TV shows, including a recent appearance as Victor Creel in Stranger Things. On Halloween of this year, he will be immortalized with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and it could not be going to a sweeter, more generous person. Robert is a joy to talk with and I'm so honored he took the time to chat with me. We have gotten to know each other over years at conventions and we have a great conversation about what it's like to be associated with an iconic role, his warm relationship with horror fans and how he used his experience on-set to inform his performance as Freddy. I hope you enjoy this conversation as much as I did— and Happy Halloween! Madelaine Petsch on Her Journey From Riverdale Teen to Scream Queen

Happy Tuesday, Everyone! I'm so happy to be talking with today's guest— the fabulous Madelaine Petsch! Madelaine played Cheryl Blossom on Riverdale and she is currently starring as Maya in The Strangers: Ch 2, reprising her role from The Strangers: Ch 1. She will also be seen as Charlie in Maintenance Required, which will be available globally on Prime Video October 8th! It was such a pleasure to get to know Madelaine a little bit better! We actually have a lot in common— we talk about growing up in the Pacific Northwest and getting involved with acting at a young age. We also discuss what it was like to be media-trained as a CW actor and how she is transitioning into producing more original work. I watched The Strangers: Ch 2 on the airplane and I'm NOT sure I recommend that experience (it was terrifying and I'm not a big horror person, especially in a confined space!). But the film is great and I hope you all check it out! If you want more conversation between me and my producer Jeph, join us over on the Patreon, where we discuss the interview and everything we have going on in our lives! Scene Stealer Steven Ogg on Grand Theft Auto, Walking Dead, Snowpiercer and More

Hi Everyone, Happy Tuesday! Today's guest is none other than Steven Ogg. Steven has created a niche playing characters that are a little (or a LOT) unhinged. He is best known for playing Trevor in Grand Theft Auto. He played Simon in Walking Dead, Pike in Snowpiercer, Rebus on Westworld, Sobchak on Better Caul Saul and many, many others. People see Steven and they think— whoa, this guy's a little crazy. But the truth is, he is also a super sensitive artist and a real actor's actor. I had so much fun getting into the weeds and sharing stories about working with directors and his philosophy of how to stick around as an actor when a show is being written week to week. Steven is a total character and it was such a pleasure to get to know him a little bit better! Be sure to stick around this week for the Hindsight, where my producer Jeph and I talk about the conversation with Steven and our love (okay, Jeph's love) of Grand Theft Auto. Jon Heder Talks Napoleon Dynamite, Chapstick, Disco and Life as a "Weirdo" Icon

Hi Everyone, hope you're having a wonderful Tuesday! This week's guest is my Pacific Northwest buddy and star of Napoleon Dynamite, Jon Heder! If you haven't seen Napoleon Dynamite (I don't know how that's possible), please go out and watch it RIGHT NOW and then come back for this interview. It was so much fun to chat with Jon and hear the story behind how he created such an iconic character. We talk about where he learned to dance, how he and the director transformed the story from a student film into a massive hit and what it was like managing such an insane level of overnight fame. It's been quite awhile since that movie came out and the truth is, Jon is so much more than that character. He is a dad, he's a big outdoors guy and he's still a phenomenal actor! He is starring in the new film Waltzing With Brando, alongside Billy Zane, and we talk about his experience learning more about Marlon Brando, shooting in Tahiti and his personal policy on nudity on camera. This is exactly the conversation you'd expect from a guy like Jon— it's absurd, goofy and earnest all at the same time. Be sure to stick around for the Hindsight, where my producer Jeph and I talk about the interview over a bowl of tots! Charisma Carpenter on Cordelia, Buffy and Fighting For a Safer Hollywood

Happy Tuesday, Everyone! Buffy was one of those shows that genuinely inspired me to become an actor. I have been such a fan and admirer of Charisma Carpenter ever since her iconic performance as Cordelia Chase on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel and it was a treat to sit down with her for a longer conversation. And this was a LONG conversation— in fact, we had so much fun talking, we had Charisma come back and record a second day just so I could ask all the questions I had for her! Charisma is passionate about everything she does and her passion is infectious. We talk about hard lessons she's learned over a long career, how to advocate for yourself on set and how to create healthy conversations around body image with kids. It's a conversation that goes deep fast, and it's also full of laughter! Charisma has a new podcast called The Bitch Is Back, where she is re-watching Buffy and Angel for the first time and reflecting on how her life has changed since those iconic shows first aired. I can't wait to check it out! Be sure to stick around after the interview for a quick Hindsight with my producer Jeph where we talk about this great conversation! Brandon Rogers Talks YouTube Celebrity, Helluva Boss and Ignoring the Algorithm

Hi Everyone, Happy Tuesday! I am so excited for you to get to know today's guest. When I first saw Brandon Rogers, it was at a con and he had a line of people waiting to see him that went out the door and down the block. I said to myself, "I have got to get to know this person." If you don't know Brandon's work, he has been making incredible, hilarious short videos for YouTube for almost 20 years (since the beginning!). Do yourself a favor and do a deep dive. His characters are outlandish, subversive and most of all, fun. He is now the star of the animated show Helluva Boss, where he plays Blitzo. This conversation was a blast and honestly really educational. Brandon and I bond over what makes us laugh (people getting hurt, sorry!). We also talk about our relationships with our fans and how AI is changing the landscape for independent creators. After the interview, I sit down with my producer Jeph and talk about the conversation in a segment we call the Hindsight. Join us there and on Patreon for more goodies! Robbie Amell on the Final Season of Upload, Code8 and Showing His Son the Flash

Happy Tuesday, Everyone! I hope you're enjoying the end of Summer! I had such a great time chatting with my guest this week— the one and only Robbie Amell! If you don't know Robbie, he is currently starring as Nathan Brown in the final season of Upload, a show which I absolutely love. He also played Ronnie Raymond on The Flash, as well as Connor Reed in Code 8 and Code 8: Part II, which he also produced. We talk about his recent move back to Canada (you know I love my Canadians) and what it was like becoming a dad while shooting Upload. We also talk about his comedic timing, his experience learning from some of the greats early on in his career and what he's learned from watching Upload creator Greg Daniels work alongside his son Owen, who also stars on the show. We are also both huge F1 fans, so I try to control myself and not let us talking about his recent trip to Monaco COMPLETELY take over the conversation. I'm excited for you to get to know him better and for everyone to watch the final season of Upload, which is streaming now! As always, make sure you stick around after the interview for the Hindsight, where I try to convince my producer Jeph to join me for a spartan race and we talk about plans for our upcoming live recording of The Sackhoff Show right here in my hometown of Portland! Jimmi Simpson on Always Sunny, Westworld, Black Mirror and his New Show Haunted Hotel

Hi Everyone! I am in awe of today's guest and I can't wait for you to listen to this conversation! Jimmi Simpson is one of those actors that really makes you pay attention from the moment you see him onscreen. You may know him from playing Liam McPoyle on It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia or from his more dramatic work as William in Westworld, Walton in Black Mirror, Tom Andrews in Pachinko, or from one of many many other roles. It was such a pleasure to chat with someone whose work I really respect and learn that our process (or lack of process) is not that different! It was a nice feeling to realize that even someone who seems so disciplined and confident as an actor still faces lack of sleep, ADD and imposter syndrome. We talk about obstacles and opportunities and how to make your way through a challenge as an actor even when you may not know the best way to approach it. This is a great conversation about acting, but Jimmi also has lots of nuggets of wisdom about life in general. Plus, Jimmi's new show Haunted Hotel is really funny and beautiful and I can't wait for everyone to check it out! Be sure to stick around for the Hindsight, where my producer Jeph and I chat about the interview, as well as upcoming live shows and conventions!
