Holiday Cheer and High-Level Coverups
Hey everyone! This week's episode is a repost of a live episode we did over on my Patreon. I was recently told I HAD to watch the new documentary The Age of Disclosure all about UFOs and UAPs, so I thought I'd grab the two middle-aged men I know that will always talk to me about aliens, my producer Jeph Porter and my friend Kristian Harloff. So if you want to know my thoughts on the film, check this one out. Jeph and I also do a little AMA at the end. If you want me to answer your questions or you want to be a part of these live streams, head over to patreon.com/thesackhoffshow and join the 2%! Ernie Hudson Knew Ghostbusters Was Something Special
Hi everyone, Happy Tuesday! This year, I dressed up as the Marshmallow Man for Halloween, so it's only fitting that I have Ernie Hudson on the show this week! Ernie famously played Winston Zeddmore in Ghostbusters. He has also appeared in many, many other projects, including films like The Crow, Airheads and Miss Congeniality and on TV on Oz, Grace and Frankie, LA's Finest and most recently as L. C. Duncan in The Family Business. It was such an honor to sit down with Ernie and we immediately got along. We talk about his childhood and the emotional moment last year when the street he grew up on was renamed in his honor. We also get into the inner strength he's developed riding the highs and lows of an almost 60 year (!) career in show business. There is so much we can all learn from Ernie and I hope you get as much out of this conversation as I did. If you want to hear more about Ernie and get updates on my own life, be sure to check out the Hindsight for this episode over on Patreon! Paul Sun-Hyung Lee Unboxes His Carson Teva Action Figure, Plus AMA with Katee!
It's a special Tuesday this week! Show favorite Paul Sun-Hyung Lee joins the show as Katee reveals his brand-new Carson Teva action figure. Plus, Katee gets the updates from Paul about the new season of Avatar: The Last Airbender and Paul shares his contribution to the design of the patches on Carson Teva's bomber jacket. Stick around for an AMA with Paul and Katee, with questions about the 501st, cosplay, Stephen King and who would (and wouldn't) play a vampire. Katee Watched Oculus for the First Time in Over a Decade
Hi everyone, this week we have a Halloween surprise for you! My producer Jeph and I are rewatching Mike Flanagan's 2013 horror film Oculus, which I starred in. Grab some popcorn and candy and get ready for some southern gothic scares. I haven't seen this movie in over a decade, so it was a lot of fun to sit down and try to remember what happened. Jeph had never seen it, so he was coming in blind! For this audio companion, Jeph and I introduce the movie and talk through some behind the scenes stories about the rest of the cast, which included Karen Gillan, Brenton Thwaites, Kate Siegel and Rory Cochrane. We also get into the stunts and effects, how the film found success at the box office and how to act possessed in a dress! If you want to watch the film with us, head over to https://patreon.com/thesackhoffshow or check out our YouTube for highlights! Robert Englund on Becoming the Stuff of Nightmares
Happy Spooky Season, Everyone! As many of you know, scary movies freak me out. But that doesn't mean I don't love today's guest! Today I'm talking to a horror icon— Freddy himself, Robert Englund! Robert is beloved for his performance as Freddy Krueger in A Nightmare on Elm Street and its many sequels. He has also had an illustrious career outside of Wes Craven's franchise, appearing in hundreds of films and TV shows, including a recent appearance as Victor Creel in Stranger Things. On Halloween of this year, he will be immortalized with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and it could not be going to a sweeter, more generous person. Robert is a joy to talk with and I'm so honored he took the time to chat with me. We have gotten to know each other over years at conventions and we have a great conversation about what it's like to be associated with an iconic role, his warm relationship with horror fans and how he used his experience on-set to inform his performance as Freddy. I hope you enjoy this conversation as much as I did— and Happy Halloween! Hi Everyone, Happy Tuesday! Thank you so much for being here. Today I'm talking to the ultimate multi-hyphenate creator Alanah Pearce. Alanah is an actor, a producer, a content creator and a former journalist and she is best-known as a video game writer and developer. She is a highly-respected voice in the role of games and has worked on some of the biggest games of the last 10 years, including God of War Ragnarök. Madelaine Petsch on Her Journey From Riverdale Teen to Scream Queen
Happy Tuesday, Everyone! I'm so happy to be talking with today's guest— the fabulous Madelaine Petsch! Madelaine played Cheryl Blossom on Riverdale and she is currently starring as Maya in The Strangers: Ch 2, reprising her role from The Strangers: Ch 1. She will also be seen as Charlie in Maintenance Required, which will be available globally on Prime Video October 8th! It was such a pleasure to get to know Madelaine a little bit better! We actually have a lot in common— we talk about growing up in the Pacific Northwest and getting involved with acting at a young age. We also discuss what it was like to be media-trained as a CW actor and how she is transitioning into producing more original work. I watched The Strangers: Ch 2 on the airplane and I'm NOT sure I recommend that experience (it was terrifying and I'm not a big horror person, especially in a confined space!). But the film is great and I hope you all check it out! If you want more conversation between me and my producer Jeph, join us over on the Patreon, where we discuss the interview and everything we have going on in our lives! Scene Stealer Steven Ogg on Grand Theft Auto, Walking Dead, Snowpiercer and More
Hi Everyone, Happy Tuesday! Today's guest is none other than Steven Ogg. Steven has created a niche playing characters that are a little (or a LOT) unhinged. He is best known for playing Trevor in Grand Theft Auto. He played Simon in Walking Dead, Pike in Snowpiercer, Rebus on Westworld, Sobchak on Better Caul Saul and many, many others. People see Steven and they think— whoa, this guy's a little crazy. But the truth is, he is also a super sensitive artist and a real actor's actor. I had so much fun getting into the weeds and sharing stories about working with directors and his philosophy of how to stick around as an actor when a show is being written week to week. Steven is a total character and it was such a pleasure to get to know him a little bit better! Be sure to stick around this week for the Hindsight, where my producer Jeph and I talk about the conversation with Steven and our love (okay, Jeph's love) of Grand Theft Auto. Jon Heder Talks Napoleon Dynamite, Chapstick, Disco and Life as a "Weirdo" Icon
Hi Everyone, hope you're having a wonderful Tuesday! This week's guest is my Pacific Northwest buddy and star of Napoleon Dynamite, Jon Heder! If you haven't seen Napoleon Dynamite (I don't know how that's possible), please go out and watch it RIGHT NOW and then come back for this interview. It was so much fun to chat with Jon and hear the story behind how he created such an iconic character. We talk about where he learned to dance, how he and the director transformed the story from a student film into a massive hit and what it was like managing such an insane level of overnight fame. It's been quite awhile since that movie came out and the truth is, Jon is so much more than that character. He is a dad, he's a big outdoors guy and he's still a phenomenal actor! He is starring in the new film Waltzing With Brando, alongside Billy Zane, and we talk about his experience learning more about Marlon Brando, shooting in Tahiti and his personal policy on nudity on camera. This is exactly the conversation you'd expect from a guy like Jon— it's absurd, goofy and earnest all at the same time. Be sure to stick around for the Hindsight, where my producer Jeph and I talk about the interview over a bowl of tots!
