If we know that exercising has such potent and in many times IMMEDIATE effects on mood, then the question becomes, why aren't ALL of us doing it with no issues? Some of our older adults (and clients of all ages) think of EXERCISE like a cuss word. Yuck. They HATE it. They have a visceral reaction to it. This is known as the AFFECTIVE response of exercise. The "suck" in the middle of a hard workout hits us all differently and even KNOWING that you get to the other side. The suck can make people disengage. So how do we tackle it?
