The organisation works with school leaders and Ministries of Education to develop operational efficiencies and innovative learning approaches in education using mobile technology.  Abdul is a former teacher of 20 years and is the Co-founder of a primary free school in Bolton, UK. He is also a former Principal and CEO of a multi academy trust based in the UK. He is known for his pioneering work on mobile based learning at Essa Academy, Bolton, UK. Since then he has worked with a number of international educational organisations as well as devising learning strategies based on mobile technology platforms.  His programmes focus on the idea of ‘Changing Beliefs’ through ‘Simplicity and Reliability’ and have extended beyond the traditional school environment to impact families and the wider communities that the schools serve. He has worked with Head teachers and senior leaders in developing leadership skills for the National College of School Leadership, was the adviser to DfES on the FE Principals Qualification,was Digital/e-learning adviser for the DfES Standards Unit and was the lead on Digital Futures for the Building Schools for the Future Leadership programme where he designed and delivered the programme at National level for several local authorities He is a Board member of the UfI Trust, a £60m charity supporting innovative developments in the use of technology for teaching, learning and assessment in further vocational and adult education. He is a Judge for the BETT Awards, TES FE Awards, Learning Remained awards, E-Assessment awards and the EdTechUK awards. Bob was recently shortlisted for the TES FE “Lifetime Achievement award” for services to Further, Vocational and Adult Education. Edufuturists #86 - The Rise of E-Sports with James Fraser-Murison

On this episode we are delighted to be joined by the E-Sports Teacher James Fraser-Murison. James studied at Roehampton uni and currently in his 16th year teaching. James has worked in four large sixth colleges having taught English and media a level and BTEC. James has been a teaching and learning coach, deputy head and now a director of learning at Queen Mary’s college Hampshire teaching on level 2 and 3 courses. He is a Google level 2 trained (, keen proponent of ILT to help achieve results, father to one amazing son called Noah and self-proclaimed esports teacher! Lesser known facts about James are he has a 200m swimming badge, cycling proficiency test passed first time and once drove into a stationary skip at under 7 mph. We are joined by Lord Jim Knight. Jim is currently the Chief Education and External Officer at TES Global and is currently living in London. Aswell sas this he also chairs XRapid.com - which focuses on moving towards offering free malaria diagnosis across the globe. Jim was a Former UK Government Minister, one role was minister of state schools from 2004-2005, and he is a current member of the House of Lords. He is a visiting professor at the London Knowledge Lab of the Institute of Education in London. He is a big advocate for technology and change needed in education. Jo is the current Assistant Principal for Higher and Adult education at Ashton Sixth Form college, which has just been awarded a full house of outstandings in their recent Ofsted inspection. Jo is also the practitioner research lead at the college. She has worked in FE since 1996 and has been at Ashton since 1997. She joined the college to set up early years and BTEC provision.
