Why your past doesn't need to define you with Chloe Brotheridge
In this week’s episode, I’m speaking with the incredible Chloe Brotheridge. I’m delighted to welcome Chloe back to the podcast – after appearing in one of our very early episodes right at the very start!
Chloe is a hypnotherapist, a coach and the author of two bestselling books, ‘The Anxiety Solution’ and ‘Brave New Girl’.
We sat down to talk just as we were going into lockdown and we had such a great conversation that really re-affirmed for me the power of working on ourselves. Chloe talks about how she went from feeling highly anxious to feeling calm a lot of time. She shares her insights about reframing our mindset and having better relationships with others, ourselves and our emotions.
Chloe also shares about imposter syndrome and confidence, and how we can totally change our experience of ourselves and our lives through some relatively simple tools.
One of the things I love about Chloe is her calming energy which I think just exudes through the whole episode. I hope you enjoy the episode.

How to break up with guilt with Anna Mathur
This week, I’m delighted to welcome my friend Anna Mathur back onto the podcast.
Many of you will already be familiar with Anna and her incredible work. Anna is a psychotherapist and a mum of three, and she has a fantastic new book out called ‘Mind Over Mother: Every Mum’s Guide to Worry and Anxiety in the First Year’. It’s a brilliant book for mums, no matter how old your children are.
Anna and I are so aligned in terms of our passions and our beliefs, and we have many shared experiences from our childhoods growing up. In this week’s episode, we talk about where the idea of ‘not being enough’ comes from and how to reach the core truth, which is that we are all enough, no matter what we do or don’t achieve as mothers and in life.
Anna has a real way with words around these deep psychological concepts, which help to make them really accessible and interesting. I hope you enjoy this week’s episode.

How to heal your relationship with your mother with Brooke Lightstone
This week, I’m excited to introduce you to Brooke Lightstone, whose work I’ve loved for a while. Brooke is a family energy healer, a women’s spiritual guide and meditation teacher and author.
Brooke speaks beautifully about working to heal women and mothers. For me, she is the absolute epitome of grace, calm and wisdom and I really enjoyed our conversation.
In this episode, Brooke shares about how she healed her relationship with her own mother. It’s a powerful topic as the ‘mother-daughter’ relationship can be one of the trickiest there is. The term ‘mother wound’ refers to where we feel that our mother wasn’t able to show up for us or didn’t show up in the way we wanted them to.
We have a really touching conversation around this. Brooke shares her journey and how she’s now on a path of healing to release expectations around that relationship so that she can meet her mother ‘human to human’. I hope you enjoy the episode.

Be The Change With Candice Brathwaite
Candice is an activist, influencer and the founder of Make Motherhood Diverse, an initiative aiming to encourage a more representative and diverse depiction of motherhood in the media. Her first book, ‘I’m Not Your Baby Mother’ has just been released and I was lucky enough to speak with her on the publication date. And it’s an incredible book - part memoir, part manifesto about black motherhood.
We speak about Candice’s childhood, her trauma and how she found herself in this activist role.
We had such a great conversation and I think you’re going to love hearing from Candice. I hope you enjoy the episode.

How to be a model, not a martyr with Glennon Doyle
I can’t tell you how excited I was to have this conversation. When I first started Motherkind, I wrote out a list of dream guests and today’s guest was right at the very top of that list. This week, we welcome the incredible Glennon Doyle to the podcast.
If you don’t already know Glennon, she is the author of two New York Times bestsellers, her latest book, ‘Untamed’, which this conversation focuses on and ‘Love Warrior’, which was also named as an Oprah’s Book Club choice. If you haven’t read them, I highly recommend getting yourself a copy.
Glennon is also the founder of a charity called ‘Together Rising’, an all-woman led non-profit organisation that has revolutionised grassroots philanthropy. Glennon has raised over $25 million for women, families and children in crisis. She's also doing some amazing work to support families who find themselves in difficulty through this period of coronavirus.
We had a really honest conversation – I definitely shared some things with Glennon which I haven’t shared with anyone else before, apart from perhaps my therapist! What I took away from this conversation is that your mission as a parent is to live a life true to yourself. When we can break free from the training and conditioning that so many of us have had and then model that to our children, we can show them what a life well-lived really looks like.
I hope you enjoy the episode. As always, the conversation continues over on Instagram, so do come and share with us there.

How to stay together when you're stuck together with Eve Rodsky
I’m so excited for you to hear this week’s episode. We have a returning guest, Eve Rodsky, whose last interview is one of the top three most listened to Motherkind episodes!
Eve is working to change society ‘one marriage at a time’, and is the author of the incredible book ‘Fair Play: Share the mental load, rebalance your relationship and transform your life’. If you haven’t listened to her previous episode (Episode 75), I highly recommend you give it a listen.
Our current situation has really highlighted exactly what us mothers have to do – the mental load and all the invisible labour to take care of our children and keep our households running.
Eve invites us to treat this moment – this ‘pause’ of real life – as an opportunity to model fairness and equality for our children and our communities.
In this episode, we talk about communication - and Eve shares some fantastic ideas for how to communicate with our partners about managing the household fairly. We also explore the ‘dirty dozen’ – the twelve tasks that are causing the most stress at home right now. Eve also talks a bit about home-schooling, which I know is a real pinch point for many of you right now.
I really loved our conversation and I hope you enjoy listening to the episode. For the full show notes, please head over to motherkind.co Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

A new way to think about lockdown homeschooling With Natalie Costa
I’ve been hearing from a lot of you over the last few weeks specifically around your concerns about home-schooling. You might be feeling worried that your children will fall behind or that they’re watching too much TV and not doing enough schoolwork.
So in this week’s episode, I’m bringing on an expert to help you with some of these challenges. I’m really excited to be speaking with Natalie Costa, who runs a business called Power Thoughts, helping children with negativity and anxiety.
Natalie is an ex-teacher – she supports children in everything from academics through to making friends and their body confidence. Natalie shares with us some easy, effective tools to help our children manage their emotions and feelings right now.
Natalie also has some amazing ideas if you are feeling the pressure around home-schooling and getting it right. In fact, she says we shouldn’t even call it home-schooling and tells us exactly why in the podcast, so do listen in.
I hope you find this week’s episode really helpful – and as always, we continue the conversation over on Instagram so do hop over and let us know what you thought. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

How to find peace of mind in a pandemic with Sandy Newbigging
What a time we are in right now. I hope this finds you, and your loved ones, safe and well. This week, I’m speaking with Sandy Newbigging. Sandy is a modern day monk - he teaches meditation and helps people to find calm in amongst their daily life. He’s the author of 12 books and has a number of incredible offerings online via his website.
As mums, it is even more challenging for us right now. I’ve been calling it the perfect storm for parents. Life doesn’t stop just because of a global crisis. We may be feeling overwhelmed with fear ourselves and the burden of deciding how to handle matters with our kids, especially with their education. How can we transform that fear and stress into freedom and peace?
In this week’s episode, Sandy shares that the only thing we can control right now is our mindset. The place to find peace is the present, and when we leave the present, this is when we tend to fall into stress and fearful thinking. Sandy shares lots of tips to help you do that including his ‘quick reality check’ technique, which can help you be present and stay present in the now instead of worrying about the regrets of the past and unknowns of the future.
This episode is for all mums and parents who want to make every moment with their children count. I hope you find it helpful. Please know that I’m here for you so do reach out via email at zoe@motherkind.co or over on Instagram to continue the conversation.
