We live in a world seduced by easy. We want to look great and be super fit but we don’t want to have to exercise to get there. We want to be uber-successful in our careers but we wonder if there’s a way to reach world-class without having to work hard and be disciplined (every great executive is disciplined – as is every great company). We dream of living fearless, joy-filled lives but we all too often avoid doing the very best practices (like getting up early, taking risks, setting-goals and reading) that are certain to deliver us to our ideals. Nothing comes for free. The best things in life require sacrifice and devotion. Each of us – to get to our own unique forms of personal and professional greatness – must pay the price. And the more we pay, the more we’ll receive.Let’s not be seduced into believing that the best things in life come without effort. Give your best, and the best will come to you. Guaranteed. 

Without a mighty mission to give your days over to, high value targets that electrify your enthusiasm and meaningful pursuits that fuel your joy, you’ll grow bored. And apathetic.Once you know that reason that’s bigger than yourself, the game totally changes……impact becomes more important than income. Delivering value starts to trump vanity. And every fiber of your being begins to fill with inspiration born of rare-air contribution.

It's not only how you begin the race - it's how you finish. I call this concept Last Mile Excellence. What makes a true champion in business and in life is the strength at which you end your event (whether that event is today or a client meeting or a key project that you've been working months to deliver on).
