Bodily Gnosis Part 1

In part one of our four part conversation about bodily Gnosis with Bishop Timothy Mansfield we compare the concepts of the body, the mind, the self, the brain, the heart, the soul, and the spirit. Phew! What a complex topic. We discuss these subjects through the lenses of Gnosticism, the kabbalah, and eastern religions. How did the ancient Gnostics view the body and the material world? What were the Valentinians really talking about when they divided humanity up into three types? Then we close things out by exploring how the body and the mind experience meditation, and how to use that knowledge to enhance your spiritual practices. https://gnosticwisdom.net/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/Talk-Gnosis-Bodily-Gnosis-Part-1.mp3 Subscribe to the video on YouTube | Subscribe to the podcast via RSS | Subscribe to the podcast on iTunes | Subscribe to the podcast on Stitcher Or download the audio here: Bodily Gnosis Part 1 Part 2 coming August 9th The opinions expressed in this show do not necessarily reflect those of the Gnostic Wisdom Network, the Apostolic Johannite Church, or any other organization. Many of us seek a real spiritual community which is loving, inclusive, spiritually lively and empowering of people of all genders, races and sexualities, both rich and poor. The Johannite tradition represents just such a community: founded by Saint John the beloved disciple of Jesus, rooted in the tradition of John the Baptist and guided by direct, experiential contact with the Divine, this tradition encourages personal responsibility and freedom of thought and practice. The Gospel of Mary Part 3

We finish up our discussion with Clark Aitkins about the Gospel of Mary with some thoughts on the nature of sin and the passions, what the Greek philosophers thought of the early Christians and Gnostics, and how we can apply the lessons of the Gospel of Mary to our lives. https://archive.org/download/TalkGnosisTheGospelOfMaryPart3/Talk%20Gnosis%20The%20Gospel%20of%20Mary%20Part%203.mp3 Subscribe to the video on YouTube | Subscribe to the podcast via RSS | Subscribe to the podcast on iTunes | Subscribe to the podcast on Stitcher Or download the audio here: The Gospel of Mary Part 3 Part 1: https://gnosticwisdom.net/the-gospel-of-mary-part-1/ Part 2: https://gnosticwisdom.net/the-gospel-of-mary-part-2/ The opinions expressed in this show do not necessarily reflect those of the Gnostic Wisdom Network, the Apostolic Johannite Church, or any other organization. The Gospel of Mary Part 2

Our conversation with Clark Aitkins continues, and the Gospel of Mary just gets more and more interesting. What instructions does the Gospel give? Is this a feminist document? Can we have a soul ascent as modern Gnostics? How does this document relate to Jewish mysticism? How doe the ancient view of the afterlife affect the development of Gnosticism? https://archive.org/download/TalkGnosisTheGospelOfMaryPart2/Talk%20Gnosis%20The%20Gospel%20of%20Mary%20Part%202.mp3 Subscribe to the video on YouTube | Subscribe to the podcast via RSS | Subscribe to the podcast on iTunes | Subscribe to the podcast on Stitcher Or download the audio here: The Gospel of Mary Part 2 Part 1: https://gnosticwisdom.net/the-gospel-of-mary-part-1/ Stay tuned for Part 3, coming July 19th The opinions expressed in this show do not necessarily reflect those of the Gnostic Wisdom Network, the Apostolic Johannite Church, or any other organization. Heavy Dose of Gnosticism

The history of Martinism is fascinating. Honestly. It’s all tied up in the French Revolution, the Gnostic and occult revivals of the late 1800s, WWII, and more. We talk with Bishop William Behun about this history, and we talk a bit about what Martinists actually do. https://archive.org/download/FinalAudioTGADMarThomas80/Final%20Audio%20TGAD%20Mar%20Thomas%2080.mp3 Johannite Church website: https://www.johannite.org/ Mar Thomas on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/us.primate.AJC Subscribe to the podcast via RSS | Subscribe to the podcast on iTunes | Subscribe to the podcast on Stitcher Or download the podcast by right clicking and saving this link: Talk Gnosis After Dark #80 Click here for the video portion of this interview. Religious Geniuses and Heretics

The author of The Refutation of All Heresies, and other early Christian writers were very keen to let everyone know how their view of Christianity was the right one. In this episode we continue our conversation with Dr. David Litwa about the heresiologists. We talk about the interesting fact that they were all pretty much accused of heresy themselves. Did the ancient Gnostics really practice sex magic as the heresiologists said? Did the Naassenes call themselves Gnostics? What was self-deification in the Gnostic practices? https://archive.org/download/FinalAudioTGAD079/Final%20Audio%20TGAD%20079.mp3 Dr. Litwa’s website: https://mdavidlitwa.wordpress.com/ Subscribe to the podcast via RSS | Subscribe to the podcast on iTunes | Subscribe to the podcast on Stitcher Or download the podcast by right clicking and saving this link: Talk Gnosis After Dark #79 Click here for the video portion of this interview. Talk Gnosis Special Report

A recent set of reports in the Atlantic sheds new light on the Gospel of Jesus’s Wife fragment, brought to the attention of the world in 2012 by renowned scholar Dr. Karen King of Harvard. Turns out the guy who owns it could very possibly have the skills to forge it. The investigation by Ariel Sabar is super interesting, whether you believe in the accuracy of the fragment or not. https://archive.org/download/20160617TalkGnosisSpecialReport/2016%2006%2017%20Talk%20Gnosis%20Special%20Report.mp3 The articles: http://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2016/07/the-unbelievable-tale-of-jesus-wife/485573/ http://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2016/06/karen-king-responds-to-the-unbelievable-tale-of-jesus-wife/487484/ Other Talk Gnosis episodes about the fragment: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v07zuhyhn-I https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Nn3zOtyIuY The opinions expressed in this show do not necessarily reflect those of the Gnostic Wisdom Network, the Apostolic Johannite Church, or any other organization. Genesis Fan Fiction

The classical Gnostics certainly took a lot from Judaism at the beginning of its development. From the re-imagining of the Jewish creation story to ritual practices, Gnosticism owes a great debt to Judaism. However, there is also a legacy of antisemitism in Gnosticism and Christianity in general which we can’t ignore. We talk about the demiurge, the remixing of Jewish scripture, as well as kabbalah, merkabah, and the ascent practices that we share in common. https://archive.org/download/FinalAudioTalkGnosisAfterDark078/Final%20Audio%20Talk%20Gnosis%20After%20Dark%20078.mp3 Temple Israel Greenfield: http://www.templeisraelgreenfield.org/ Conscious Community: http://www.amazon.com/Conscious-Community-Guide-Inner-Work/dp/1568218974/ Subscribe to the podcast via RSS | Subscribe to the podcast on iTunes | Subscribe to the podcast on Stitcher Or download the podcast by right clicking and saving this link: Talk Gnosis After Dark #78 Click here for the video portion of this interview.
