We also agree on a lot of the salient points — like how hilarious it is that Hellboy is summoned by Rasputin during World War II with no explanation of how that happens, and the joy of watching a ball of guts become possessed by the spirits of your ancestors — but we disagree on whether that hilarity was intentional, and how much that actually matters in the scheme of things. We also read the bad reviews and discuss everyone comparing this one to Guillermo Del Toro. Finally we listen to a voicemail story from one of our listener’s crowd experience during The Favourite. Salutations Frot-nation! It’s time for another regular ol’ boring episode of the Filmdrunk Frotcast… or IS it? It’s NOT! A regular ol’ boring episode, I mean. It’s not that. Because this week Matt, Vince, and Brendan (via Skype) got together for the annual NAME OF THE YEAR Draft, in which we read through Deadspin’s bracket of the world’s best/worst names and giggle uncontrollably. Listen at your own risk, and try not to Jizyah Shorts. Our guest this week is Josh Androsky (@shutupandrosky) – a democratic socialist, comedian, and winner of a million dollars on a Big Bang Theory slot machine. We talk about everything from “what’s it like to win a million dollars?” to “can I have some of the million dollars?” and much more! Oh, we also talk about how Joe Biden is a creep and possibly some sort of robot. It’s one hell of an episode and you should really listen to it, and then give the Frotcast 5 stars and a review on iTunes because we need it.

We discuss a wide array of topics, starting with Shane Dawson’s vehement denial that he had sex with his cat, to the recent This American Life in which Jon Ronson gets the skinny on the true origin story of Alex Jones, who told everyone in high school that he was the devil. Then we discuss the thing that literally everyone comes to the Frotcast to listen to… movies. Specifically, we talk the new Netflix film Triple Frontier starring Ben Affleck and Oscar Isaac. And finally, Matt Lieb (me) bring back Royalty Freestyle. Not that it ever left, but Vince and I have sworn to get back into the swing of doing it every episode. You do not wanna miss this one. Vince has just returned from seeing Captain Marvel (no there won’t be spoilers settle down) so we discuss that a little, Marvel movies more broadly, and even more broadlier: is the movie theater experience dead? In the Spielberg/Netflix Oscar fight is there someone who’s right? We discuss whether movies will eventually become opera, and finally settle in to our main topic, the Leaving Neverland documentary about Michael Jackson on HBO. After that we answer your emails about our high school bands and about the MOMO. Should that be in all caps? I’m not looking it up. This week, we had the hilarious and beautiful and my girlfriend Francesca Fiorentini in the LA Frotquarters and we discuss everything from Jussie Smollett, Jacob Wohl, to our nice little day trip to Palm Springs that we just got back from where she and I lounged by the pool all day. She’s my girlfriend. Eventually, Vince and I discuss Netflix’s Abducted in Plain Sight about a super sexual predator who will seduce an entire family just to get to a little girl. Sean Penn would be proud. This week Matt and Vince welcome Shereen Lani Younes and Anna Hossnieh from the podcast Ethnically Ambiguous. Shereen and Anna join the Frotsmen to talk Velvet Buzzsaw, Dan Gilroy’s newest film in the creepy-Gyllenhaal genre about an evil artist spirit that terrorizes the art world. We also talk Sean Penn’s grating writing style, the Oscars, Vince’s hatred of art, Vince’s preposterous love for the second season of True Detective, and how Anna’s father wore Raiders gear to a funeral in Iran. It’s an excellent episode that’s equally eccentric, esoteric, and… enfinitly eccessible? Everyone should endeavor to enjoy this entertaining experience. Alliteration rules. Enjoy!
