Creatively Me

On this final episode of Season #1 of “Creatively Me”, Daniel chats about “Graduation Day” his newest short film streaming on Vimeo from Friday, April 19th. Daniel did this film as part of his thesis in his MA in Film & Screen Media. He’ll be chatting not only the course, but the making of the film from pre-production to post-production. Along the way, you’ll hear from cast and crew on the film & will get an exclusive sneak peek of the short. For this penultimate episode of Season #1, Daniel welcomes Edain O’Donnell. Edain is an artist and creative director who has worked on the art department on several respected and high profile film and television projects. She has contributed to Irish classics such as The Wind That Shakes the Barley. She’s recently worked on Holding, the television adaptation of the Graham Norton book of the same name. It was during her time working on that project that Edain pursued the idea of setting up a film studio, which she is now the co-founder of alongside a slew of talented Irish artists and filmmakers. The West Cork Film Studios is described as a new leading light in TV and Film Production in Ireland, and is simply emblematic of the tremendous talent this country has in the world of visual media. Today Edain will be chatting about her own creativity, the process of establishing the studio and will give an insight into not only what it offers others, but what it has given her on both a professional and personal level. MTU Cork School of Music Graduate Mathias Levy Valensi joins me on today's episode. Mathias hails from France and journeyed into the world of music in his early teens when he first began playing the piano. Today he is a film and media composer, but his individualistic musical style has extended even beyond that to working alongside the likes of Andrea Corr. Mathias has collaborated with Daniel on four films to date. Today Mathias will enlighten us about finding individualistic style as a composer, working to achieve not only your vision but the vision of others as a creative person, and documenting his process in creating a memorable score.  All of this & more on Episode 10 of "Creatively Me".

On today's episode, Daniel is joined by Mike Gibson - an artist whose signature and unique style has drawn him notoriety and acclaim. You need only look at his TikTok page to see the over 100 thousand followers he has that eatery await each time he posts a new art piece. His recognisable work typically features that of a celebrity, mostly a musican, in amongst beautiful inscribed lyrics that relates to said star. His work ranges from depictions of stars from Matthew Perry to Miley Cyrus. His latest art-piece has been recognised by pop superstar Ariana Grande. Today, Mike will be chatting all about pop culture, his signature style, utilising social media to create a business out of his creative passion, and his relationship to his work, when what was once a hobby becomes a career. Triona Campbell - an Emmy nominated producer and young-adult author joined Daniel on this week's episode of "Creatively Me." Moving smoothly from different areas of creativity, from podcasting, to film and television, to novel writing, Triona is a forced to be reckoned with. Today, Triona will enlighten listeners on the importance of storytelling in all it’s various formats, the use of technology in how story-telling and how she takes contemporary topics from the world around us and places it into her work - namely, AI, which Triona has explored extensively for her novel writing. She’ll be discussing her views on where AI is going and the impact it’ll have in the creative world. Furthermore, she'll offer an insight into the innovation of the gaming industry today. Daniel is joined by Eileen Cardona on today's episode of "Creatively Me" - a model and creative director whose versatility in the way she presents herself in front of the camera, has landed her collaborations with the likes of MobJournal and Lifestyle Sports. She has also appeared in several music videos. Eileen will be talking about representation in creativity, how the most seemingly mundane forms of creativity benefits her on a day to day basis, how different cultures seep their way into her art, and will give us a glimpse into the insecurities that everyone, but specifically a creative person can have. Not only is Daragh Fleming's work compelling and uniquely ambitious, it is no doubt making a big difference in the lives of those who come to it. A writer & mental health advocate, Daragh's work aims to break the stigma surrounding mental well-being, whilst being thoroughly entertaining a compelling. He is the writer of the acclaimed "Lonely Boy," "Poems That Were Written On Trains, But Weren't About Trains" & "Enigmatic", which have all achieved acclaim. Photographer Charles Moriarty - best known for photographing Amy Winehouse for her debut album "Frank" joins Daniel on this week's episode of "Creatively Me". After moving from Dublin to London, he became a stills photographer in the music industry and on the London social scene. Charles will be chatting all about his earliest experiences with photography, his inspirations, his time photographing Amy Winehouse and gives us an insight what it’s like to be involved in the stills department on a major blockbuster. He’ll chat about what he sees when he reflects back on his own work, how the photography industry has changed over time, and approaching nude subjects in photographs. Daniel welcomes an author whose books have been adored not just in her home country, but all around the world. Marita Conlon-McKenna is a multi-talented writer who has penned diverse tales for both’s adults and children, Marita is perhaps best known for her acclaimed debut - Under the Hawthorn Tree and it’s two sequels, which have became staples of Irish children’s literature. Marita will be discussing the legacy of her work, as well as how she deals with reviews and reader expectations. She’ll be discussing how she writes, the impact creativity has on her day to day life and her involvement in a campaign encouraging children to discover Irish authors and Irish books. Today's episode sees Daniel chatting with comic-book artist Will Sliney - an Irish comic-book artist who has applied his range of artistic skills to some of the biggest franchises in the world from Marvel to Star Wars. He also hosts his own show on RTE.  Will will be discussing his path from college student to working for Marvel, early inspirations and the importance of connecting with one's childhood self within the creative process. He'll also be talking about the value that's placed on the arts in education systems today, and dares chose his favourite Marvel film. All of this and more on Episode 3 of "Creatively Me".
