Lies & ADHD with Ari Tuckman
If you live with ADHD you know the precarious line that you can walk between fact and fiction. Whether you’re tempted to lie to yourself about what you’re capable of in a given time period or lie to your boss about what you’ve accomplished this week, the instinct to make those around you feel better by smoothing the edges of reality is strong. This week, we’re thrilled to have Ari Tuckman back on the show to talk about ADHD and lies, the situations that are most likely to cause you to push that button, and how to reframe your behavior and make amends if you’ve found yourself in uncomfortable, lie-inducing situations. Pandemic Anxiety with Dr. Doug
We interrupt our regularly-scheduled podcast to inject a couple of ideas in your path today. In this first episode, Dr. Doug Herr is back to talk about the anxiety and stress that comes with living with the unknown. This week, Dr. Doug joins Nikki and Pete to talk about our emotions, but not by belittling them or running from them or even moving through them. He approaches our emotional response to living in the world of uncertainty that comes with the pandemic by helping us understand what our emotions are, why they exist, and how we can better come to terms with our reactions this way. Dr. Doug is planning a webinar in which he teaches these techniques more deeply for next week. We encourage you to sign up to be notified — it’s free and should be incredibly helpful.Links & NotesThank you for supporting The ADHD Podcast on Patreon! How to manage Coronavirus Anxiety with Dr. Doug Herr

ADHD Job Interview Tips with HR Nikki!
We’ve already talked about how you’re going about managing the emotions that come with the job hunt in the last two episodes with Dr. Doug. This week, we’re moving into the direct experience of the job hunt. You may not know this, but our own Nikki Kinzer has an extensive background in human resources and has interviewed more people than she can remember. So this week on the show, she’s going to be sharing some of the strategies she wishes more interviewees would have followed, and how your ADHD can impact you along the way! Here are some sample questions you might ask during your own interview (for reference from this episode): What do you think are the most important skills for someone to have in this position? (does it match?)What does a typical day look like for this position? (does that sound good?)How might the day vary from day to day?How many people would I be working with and how do I work with them?Who do I report to you? What are they like? (if applicable)What does the workload look like over the course of the year? Are there some seasons that are busier than others? Why, and how does the company adjust when work is heavy/light?Why is this position open? How would you explain the work culture here? Why do you like working here? What are the next steps, will I hear back and when?Links & NotesThank you for supporting The ADHD Podcast on Patreon! The Theme System Journal
