S17EP08: How to take a scientific approach to becoming world-class
I’m a scientist by training. I have a joint degree in Biology and Economics. And that background in biology meant that I spent hours and hours of the early part of my life studying, researching and experimenting in a laboratory. The Latin root of the word “laboratory” literally means to work. The word “experiment” comes from the Latin, meaning to try and to risk. The word “research” comes from Latin, meaning “to wander hither and thither.” So, what we call science literally means hard work, taking risks and not really knowing where you’re going! Today, I'll teach you 5 steps to being world-class... Love. Rich PS. For most of human history, it wasn’t called coaching. It was called leadership. S17EP07: Rebel Yell
David is a consultant to the leaders of 1-billion-dollar corporations. He's worked in the corporate world for over 25 years and over a decade at Walt Disney. You're about to hear me draw out David's story and articulate it in a way that's so powerful that it lands deeply inside of him. I normally charge $10,000 to take someone through this experience because its impact is worth literally hundreds of thousands of dollars and we can't do this for ourselves. As you hear me drawing out David's story, imagine I’m asking the same questions of you. Or imagine asking those similar questions of your clients. This is a powerful exercise to draw out the power of the person in front of you. Enjoy! Love. Rich PS. For most of human history, it wasn’t called coaching. It was called leadership. S17EP06: Where do I find interesting people?
Building a coaching business or a community is like pushing a car. At first, the inertia makes it a really slow process, but eventually, the momentum will kick in. That’s right where my guest, Richard, is sitting with his business. Richard is a consultant and a coach who has worked in tech for 20 years. He works with fast-moving business leaders who love complexity. Richard questions where he is supposed to find interesting people that he will love to work with. In this replay episode from an earlier season of this 1 Insight podcast, you'll be right there with us as I inform Richard of the truth - that he can go find the communities that they hang out in or he can create those communities himself! Now - several years after this episode was originally recorded, Richard is about to begin year 2 of his membership in 4PC - the community I created for the exact reasons we talk about during the podcast. S17EP04: The Four Stages of Transformation
Transmission is when you become a guide and start to help others to become heroes. Today I have a conversation with Hayden around how he steps into the highest level of transformation - the mastery level. Sometimes as a coach your job is to simply create space and the clients will come to their own insights. And, that's precisely what happens in this conversation. And, I have mine too at the very same time. Love. Rich PS. For most of human history, it wasn’t called coaching. It was called leadership.
